Chrisette Michele's - I Am is a beautiful well put together Cd. It has a little something for everyone. With her soulful voice her Cd rates high in my book. There's a mix of songs to express just about any emotion you may be feeling at the moment. I love this cd and would definitely recommend it to everyone....

Bottom-Line: My advice to Ms. Lewis: next time around, and no doubt there will be a next time, leave Mariah at home and bring your voice and personality to the musical table.

Who knew my 20-year old daughter had genuine taste in music! But so it was from her that I first heard this new R&B diva with the voice forged from angel dust and frothing ocean water. The songstress is 25-year old Chrisette Michele from Long Island New York, who released her first studio CD I Am, last June on Def Jam Records.

And who knew Jay Z's Def Jam Record, long associated with the oft-times outlandish world of Hip-Hop, could nurture, let alone release Ms. Michele's soulful CD I Am, but here it is, and we are the better for it. From the opening notes of track No. 1 Like A Dream, to the closing sweet notes of the last (untitled) bonus track, there is everything to love and nothing to loath about this album.

Superbly engineered and produced, I Am pulls together the best of the genre and entertains without...
...

I happened upon this CD completely by accident. I enjoy music, but I don't tend to seek it out or surround myself with CDs. However, if I happen to hear something that catches my attention, I will make a concerted effort to find out the name of the artist.
My stepdaughter was playing music one day, and most of her selections were generally uninteresting to me. Then, she popped in a CD that was so full of energy, soulfulness, and appeal that I stopped what I was doing, enchanted by the fresh sound. Turns out, the artist that caught my attention is Chrisette Michele, and her CD entitled, I Am, is now playing repeatedly on my computer.

From the very first lines of the very first song, I was impressed with her unique sound. So much of music today sounds so very similar, but this young lady has a styling that is all her own. It's reminiscent of a jazzy, bluesy, soulful vibe, but it also has elements of hip hop to keep it updated and fresh. Her voice is so distinctive and her...
...

She has a beautiful, strong, voice that is backed up by soulful/jazzy music. Most CDs I purchase I end up disappointed because the only good song is the radio single (Amerie [who the hell gave that girl a record deal]), but EVERY song is my favorite song on "I Am". ...

I just happened to stumble upon this musical visionary. She has such a unique sound. I saw her live in Rlgh, NC and she was magnificant. She sounds as good in person as she does on her cd. Chrisette has a long career ahead of her as far as i can hear. If you like neo-soul, jazz, r&b, just plain good music, give Chrisette a listen....

I tend to steer clear of mainstream music because it carries little weight. An assembly line comes to mind when I think of all the r&b music that you look at VH1 and MTV because it's all the same old stuff. their are some good ones out their but overall it gets to be very boring very fast.

Enter Chrisette Michele and the refreshing voice that she brings to the table showing that she learned from her influences well! I first heard of this young lady through two hooks she sang(one for Jay-Z and the other for Nas)and was very impressed with her clear sound and supple tone. She began to create allot of buzz and I began to get nervous. I thought "here we go" because my hopes were and the skeptic in me said the voice may be nice I bet her Cd will me a wasteland of same ol stuff......I was wrong.....again!

Her voice evokes the sounds of yesterday when ladies in r&b didn't have to scream or ad-lib their way through a song to make up for what they lack in real talent. Her you have a real singer...
...
