Spiffster says "Not nearly worth the fee. Horribly rude customer service." about Chase - United Mileage Plus Platinum

The united miles card provided by Chase is a complete ripoff. 60 dollars a year... what is the point of having a credit card that provides "rewards" that you have to pay for. Especially now days when there are plenty of credit cars out there that have cash rewards and NO annual fee. My wife has this card and we are going to cancel it tomorrow. She has had this card for 4 years now and just recently made her first late payment. She had tried to get the fee reversed and was told that "we have no option to do that for you". 4 years, never a late payment, 240.00 dollars of accumulated fees... i return she gets horrible customer service. Im sorry but why would anybody applay for this card... it just doesnt make sense... And by horrible customer service, im not talking about the fact that they would not reverse the 1 late fee... these people where just plain rude to my wife.
...

hammie2002 says "30,000 FREE Miles to sign up!" about Chase - United Mileage Plus Platinum

Traveling is expensive so why not travel for free?! I searched every credit card that rewarded airline miles and United Mileage Plus was the best of them. Their offer right now gives you 30,000 free miles just to sign up! A domestic flight (US or Canada) is only 25,000 miles, so automatically you get a free flight. The card offers you 1 mile for every dollar you spend, but it really doesn't stop there. The miles you earn can be used for cars, hotels, and much more (not vacation packages though). The card has so many great ways to earn miles, you'll have more than just one free ticket before you know it. The payment processing time is 3 days on this card, the customer service is amazing, and finally the yearly fee is $60, which you can pay using your airlines miles :) The benefits of the card are amazing, I would highly recommend this card.
...

I been with United Mileage plus for many years and will be with many years to come .I use this card mostly for Gas Purchases and small Items , because i get miles back what i can redeem when i have my 25000 Miles saved up . I had a lot Credit Cards in my Life , but iam sticking with this one and only one. I let this other ones all expire , because i need only one in my Life , besides i have my Debit Card from my Own Bank whats so nice about it . The only thing i dont like about that Visa Card from Chase i wish only the Interest Rate would be under 10% ,because i pay my monthly Payments on time no matter what . At this point it stands at 13.9% i believe . I dont worrie about sending the Payment in by Mail , all goes automatic Deduction from my Checking Account . Thats the only way to go this Days . I cut out alot sending Checks to Bus who i owe to , That cuts out alot licking Stamps and what goes with it . So i hope People look at this Options more and make the World more greener .
...

shauna828 says "Good points accumulation but annual fee is too high" about Chase - United Mileage Plus Platinum

This card accumulates GREAT miles. The annual fee is quite high ($175) but in the long run I find it worth it. In the first year, you can accumulate up to 15,000 elite qualifying miles, and in subsequent years up to 5,000. For purchases at united.com, and grocery, home improvement, gas, and dining, you accumulate 2 points per dollar. All other purchases are 1 point per dollar. With more and more restrictions on the "saver award" flights on United, it is harder to get the flights that you want for the lower rate of 25,000 miles for domestic flights, but you can get any flight you want (domestically) for 50,000, which isn't terrible considering the price of flights these days. Also, Visa is accepted pratically everywhere in the world and I never have trouble getting money from ATMs when my MasterCard is not accepted, although the rates for a cash advance are very high. Overall the APR is not ideal but I mainly pay the card off every month so for me, this is not a huge issue. This card is......

TraderGeorge says "Amazing initial offer" about Chase - United Mileage Plus Platinum

The Chase Mileage Plus Platinum Business Visa just became my sixth Visa from JP Morgan Chase. It has no annual fee for the first year, and a $75 fee thereafter, but the second year also comes with 6,000 aditional miles. I earn 2 miles for every dollar spent on United Airlines and 1 mile/dollar spent on everything else. With my first charge I got a 21,000 mile bonus credit to my United Airlines Mileage Plus Account. I used to figure the Mileage Plus miles to be worth about $0.02 each based on a ticket to my timeshare in Hawaii being $700 or 35,000 miles. With higher fuel prices driving ticket prices higher, those same 35,000 miles now save me about $1800 in air fare, so the 21,000 miles credit are worth about $0.05 each, making the initail bonus worth over $1,000 in real money. Combined with the 15,000 miles Chase gave me for opening a home equity line last fall, I am going to Hawaii for free on Chase.

(My home equity line balance is zero, so it costs me nothing. If I decide...
...
