This has been a Nightmare from Day 1. Completely unprofessional. Raising Rates before your account end. Horrible customer service! Will say anything to get money out of you and then change up. I've been forced into this service because of the complex I live in. Charter is a bunch of crooks. Run far, far from this company.
...

It never ceases to amaze me how much these cable companies charge for TV service. Only twice in my life have I ordered cable. Both times I switched back to FREE over-the-air TV. This last time took a new innovation - DTV.

When I first moved into this apartment about 3 years ago, the landlord would not allow an outdoor antenna on the roof. And an inside antenna got next to nothing. I was stuck either going with Charter Cable or a dish of some kind.

They "claim" no disruption in TV service during storms. That's a joke. Sometimes it would go out for just a few minutes...sometimes for a day. Sometimes there was NO STORM! It would just go out.

Then I heard about the coming of DTV and the government coupon program for converter boxes. I got on the Internet & ordered my two coupons. I went to my local Radio Shack & purchased one to start. I can't explain the electronics of it, but -- the same indoor antenna that got next to nothing over an analog signal now picks up a great...
...

I have never been so disappointed in customer service in my life! Our cable was down for 2 weeks due to an accidental cut in the line. We waited nearly 8 months for the problem to be entirely resolved. In the interim, our neighbor's driveway was damaged during an operation to bury the cable, we had exposed cable throughout our yard and 2 neighbor's yards for months. Countless phone calls were needed to complete jobs. We have no alternative here except satellite. Seriously thinking about changing!
...

As a reasonable person with a life of her own, it is maddening to spend several weeks trying to find a CSA who understands your dilemma, only to find that when you call back to act on the information that the steer you'd been given was wrong!

We've always been able to renew our 12-month bundle price after having been off the bundle for 3 months. Told by a coherant CSA last month that I should call after paying the third regular price bill--but when I did, a barely understandable agent and supervisor said this isn't possible (at least I think that's what they said, since I could barely make it out).

I am so tired of the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing with this company!!! As soon as another cable provider moves into our area this fall, I AM GONE!!!!
...

Smooth says "Poor customer service" about Charter - Cable TV

It took me 3 weeks to have my service downgraded. I chose to downgrade because I was under a promotion and didn't know it or that it would expire until I received my bill. I had to add on an additional service in order to get a reasonable bill. I made 3 service appointments before the service was actually performed. One of those appointments was never recorded. Customer care was not very caring....

Nothing special from Charter except the high prices. Never offer free months of movies unless you are new client. Those of us stuck with them never get a deal. Receive your bill on Monday if its not paid by Friday they send a cancellation notice. If I didn't have so many trees around my house I would for sure get the DISH...

I would never recommend charter again. The quality of the pictures are hit or miss. The internet service is the same. Seems like the only one that works good is the phone.

Been dealing with them for 6 yrs, have yet to find a english speaking tech when i call, or yet my favorite is the 70,000 automated questions you get before you get a foreign language on the phone.
...

I have had experience with cable both as an employee and a customer over the years. Charter Cable has given me pretty good service. The cable channels are exactly what they describe them to be. I get very good service with the customer service department and the tech department, however, billing leaves ALOT to be desired. No one in my billing department speaks English very well. It is extremely hard to understand what they are saying, and after repeated requests to repeat what they say or slow down when they say it, I am returned with irritated and snippy replies. Every supervisor is the same way. Not to mention the supervisors need to be on the same page as customer service. When my order was set up for cable installation, I had a past due balance. Customer service said I could pay that balance as well as the other charges at the time of installation. the billing department told me that I couldn't get the cable installed until the balance was paid and I had would have to wait 30 days......

I had cable and internet. Internet goes out frequently, to start with. Then I received an offer in the mail for a certain rate and when my rate went up in spite of that, I kept calling customer service to have my bill corrected. I was nice about it but they would never even fix the bill. One of the customer service managers, when I asked who I could speak with above her, as in her manager, simply lied and said there was no one else I could speak with and that she was going to terminate the conversation. Worst customer service I have ever experienced. Since she is not the president of the company, that's obviously not true. I actually had to go to the Better Business Bureau to get the problem resolved and the collection letters to stop!!!!!! I will never do business with them again. If I live in an area someday that has no other provider, I'd rather go without it....
