The first cruise we (my wife and I) took left from Tampa port on Carnival Inspiration. When I first stepped in to the lobby area, it reminded me of some Hyatt or Hilton hotel lobbies.

There were glass elevators, piano with violin playing, marble floors, very well designed staircases. The ship at first seemed overwhelming. This ship was about 854 feet long and had 12 decks I believe. We were on deck 10, and we had a balcony stateroom.

As soon as you board there is food being served usually on the Lido deck. Out by the pools the crew is getting ready to start serving hamburgers, hot dogs and french fries for those who want to lay by the pool and eat.

Inside the resturaunts the food was fantastic, there was a buffet style bar, a sub or sandwich bar, desert bar, fruit bar and a pizza bar, your noncarbonated drinks like tea, lemonade, apple juice, coffee, fruit punch and ice water is all free. There was also a soft ice cream area to make your own cones. Seating was ample and...

As a first time cruise goes I was a little unsure of what to expect. Wow what an experience. Carnival elation was an incredible experience. From the moment i entered the docking area to board the ship. Everyone was extremely friend and happy. This took so much stress out of my traveling i had just driven 4 hours to get to the dock. When we first entered the ship I was amazed at the beauty. All throughout the cruise day and night people were cleaning and maintaining the ship. It was spectacular. The dining experience was a story in itself. One evening at dinner my daughter wanted to order a dinner that included tomatoes, which she does not like. she asked the maitre d if she could have i without tomatoes he said they were already in the sauce but he would go into the kitchen and handpick the tomatoes out of her meal. He did just that i was very impressed. I would defenitely without a doubt go on another Carnival Cruise because of my postive experiece on Elation. ...

Don`t miss out on the fun! carnival cruises is the way to go!I went on a carnival cruise 2 years ago and intend to go again soon. I had the time of my live the whole experience is just awsome.Ask my husband and two children and they will say the same tdhing we all had a great time!Couldn`t ask for better food or service The room with balcony awsome.

I took my Sister, 16 year old son and my sons friend on the Carnival Elation in October. Our trip took us to Cabo San Lucas and Ensenada. First of all, the ship was beautiful and the staff could not have been more friendly. They had tons of stuff to do while we were at sea and I hardly saw my son and his friend. The activities for all age groups was well versed and so much fun. Cabo San Lucas was clean and pretty. I have been here before and the snorkeling was great, the restaurants were great, and the people were very friendly. I have taken many cruises before but I have to say, I was most impressed by the Elation and Carnival Cruise Lines. The breakfast buffet was not nearly as abundant as other ships I have been on but It was good non the less. We also ate at the restaurant some mornings where we ordered off the menu. We were seated at large tables with other passengers so we got to know people from all over. The biggest thing I have learned on a cruise is that...

This ship has ALOT of movement, much more than expected. Had sealegs for two days after departing. Crew was being held prisoner by Carnival Corp in the bowels of the ship, could hear them cry out in agony...made the ship sound ghostly. This is an OLD ship, one of Carnival's oldest and noisiest. Stay away from the back of the ship, the droning of the engines will drive you mad. If you're addicted to cruising and want a poor experience to break you of it, this is your ship. Shore Excursions offered by Carnival were 2X more expensive than if you had paid for them at the dock. Veteran cruisers said it was the worst they had ever experienced...and recommended we try Royal Carib....

Safety issue #1: while looking for a seat in the Mikado lounge (area was dark), fell over an unlit riser on the top floor and cut my leg. The area around the injury swelled quite a bit with a very large and unsightly knot on my shin. I have a cut and bruising still (four days after the incident) and feel that I could have easily broken my leg if I had landed differently.
Safety issue #2; during our "Inspiration" dining, my son's entrée arrived and while he was eating the main course, a table guest requested a nibble from one of the vegetables on his plate. She then discovered that glass shards were strewn throughout the meal and had even removed a small glass chunk from her mouth just prior to swallowing. Whether my son had consumed any glass is unknown, but he has not been feeling too well since.
Empress room H/V/AC; the comfort of the room was severely compromised during the entire voyage. Though the A/C vent was wide open, the room would range between stagnate hot to icy cold bursts...

Years ago some friends said that Carnival lines were nice but that it wasn't really special... Well! - We thought that it was a special ship, trip, and that the staff and food were fantastic! We have recommended to our friends. As a result, another side of our family is taking the same 5-day coastal cruise as their annual family get together. It well exceeded our expectations. Don't hesitate, book the cruise!...

We went on a family cruise on Carnival Cruises. It was fun just experiencing what a cruise is all about, and all the amenities there are. However, it seemed like everywhere you went, alcoholic drinks were offered (for a price, of course), which made for some noisy neighbors at night.

I was looking forward to the "Chocolate Buffet". It looked marvelous! But, hardly anything tasted good. They had used bitter European chocolate for EVERYTHING!

The particular time we went, there was fog in the bay when we were returning from our trip, so the dis-embarkation was delayed. Instructions were to stay in your rooms until called, but we got kicked out by our cleaning people. Luckily, one of the auditoriums was open, and they had a movie running to entertain folks.

The Carnival Cruise I took with my family was noisy and the push to gamble, or drink alcohol, or even just spend more money than you need to was excessive. The frequent interruptions by the so-called cruise coordinator was not good at all. We will avoid Carnival Cruises in the future....

we just got back from a Mexican cruise aboard the Carnival Elation. t was our first cruise and we were not disappointed. We were so pampered by everyone on the ship. It was a vacation of a lifetime. We are ready to go again. Fantastic food, entertainment,stateroom, ports of call, and service....
