I was in great need of rebuilding my credit, I had a small business that went under and left me with a lot of debt. After trying to pay everything I sunk even further and I will admit had no real choice left except to file bankruptcy. After it was discharged I knew that I needed to rebuild my credit. I still had a student loan but I needed revolving credit to rebuild my credit score. Capital One was the first "preapproved" offer that I received that didn't charge a lot of fees. There is an annual fee which varies per card but I have never seen one over $50. I love that Capital One was willing to take a chance on me (and yes I did file on one of their cards in my bankruptcy.) I started with a small limit but was automatically enrolled in credit steps. Credit Steps is a Capital One program that allows you to increase your credit limit when you show you're responsible with the card. After you use the card and pay on it for 3 months they increase your credit limit and it...
...

i was sent an offer several years ago to help me rebuild and establish my credit with a card that started with a $50 limit and when paid as i went in a responsible manner, would gradually grow along with my credit. this card now has a $500 limit soon to increase even more soon, and i am back in good graces with some really good payment history under my belt, and i seriously owe it to this card giving me the chance to do so. Capital one platinum mastercard is a great card to have, i have had a couple of problems in the four years i have had the card, but whenever i call to speak to a representative, it has been with positive results, the have reversed a couple of late and/or overlimit fees, but more importantly and respectfully, they do go out of the way to explain how something may go wrong so you learn from it and how to do things the right way so your credit continues to get better, which is how we all need these credit companies to be so we can all get to a better place financially!...
...

Capitalone is the best credit card company in the world if you were to ask me. I have had 3 credit cards through out my life and I must say capital one's institution is better for me. They maintained avery low interest rate for me even though my balance was 967 from 1000 dollars. Yea I owed a lot. I had a monthly fee of 15 dollars no more than 24 dollarrs. I f I was unable to make a monthly payment then I would call one of their customer service representatives and let them know I was short on money. They set up the perfect time for me and gave me more days to collect the monthly fee. I always paid off the full amount every time I got my school check which was a little bit over 3,000 dollars. I applied for a credit increase 3 times and guess what....I was given thtat credit increase all three times. I started out with a 750 dollar credit limit, then 1,000, and later a 3,500 credit limit. I recomment people getting a capitalone credit card. There low APR rates are the best!!!!!
...

I had a Capital One Platinum Mastercard. I never missed a payment, I was never late on a payment. I always paid above the minimum payment request. When I received a notice letting me know that they were raising my interest rate, and I mean RAISING the rate...I called them to find out why. They said it was an across the board raise because of the economy. Now all I hear lately is about how the economy is coming back. Seniors are not even getting their annual cost of living increase this year because the cost of living has gone down. Which is it? If the rate increase was not bad enough, when I called to "opt out" they told me to be sure and redeem any "rewards" I had accumulated. I wanted to use them for gift cards for my grandchildren this year as Christmas gifts, so I waited a little while before I went to use them. "MY OWN FAULT"I "thought" she said Oct. 15 was the deadline. So on Oct. 1 I went to redeem them, to find out that I was not allowed because I had closed my account by "opting...
...

I love this Capitol One card because they gave someone young with not a lot of credit a credit card. They raised my limit because I was paying on it.

I got this card some years ago as it offered what I thought was a decent interest rate and 12 months interest free. What I didn't know was that you always have to read the fine print. I was given a low maximum as I didn't have any credit and the account fees, both monthly and yearly, killed me! I was already over my limit right away!

So I ended up having about a 28% interest and hadn't hardly bought a thing with it. Yes, I was young and yes, naive. If you're looking to build your credit, they'll more than likely give you a card but be forewarned, pay attention to when they charge their fees because I didn't receive any notice and therefore, because I didn't check my statement daily, I was over the limit and under a pile of debt.
...

Capital One Platinum uses unfair trade practices in dealing with interest rates. I was at a low 2.3% interest rate and received a notification stating that the interest rate would be increased to 9.9%. The notification stated that I had the option to cancel the card and keep the low interest rate to pay off the balance or keep the card with the higher interest rate. The notification stated that I had until 04/17/09 to notify them of my decision. I called the number in the notification to cancel the card. Capital One was to have cancelled the card effective 05/17/09. I called Capital One to verify that the card was cancelled and was told that everything was taken care of. I was extremely shocked to receive my bill in June showing that the card was not cancelled and that I was being charged the higher interest rate. I called and email Capital One and they refuse to uphold their offer to cancel the card and allow me to pay off the balance with the lower interest rate stating...
...

I have had my Cap One card for about six months. It has a 14.25% rate that will not increase as long as the account stays current and minimum payments are made. I try to pay my entire balance so I don't have any interest accrual. Recently I received an e-mail inviting me to sign on and create my own image card. The service is free and as long as you follow their guidelines practically any image may be uploaded from your computer. They also offer an extensive list of photos, icons, etc. The categories are too numerous to mention here I am sure most of you have seen the recent TV campaign about this feature. I submitted a photo of my little girl (Shih Tzu) Gizmo and the card turned out to be awesome. Everywhere I have used my card both the sales persons and the customers in line have oohhed and aahhed over how special my Cap One card is. This is not for business card users but if you have a Capital One card for personal use I would recommend getting an image card. You have the option of changing...
...

I have never given a review before now. Mypoints has enticed me and a survey company has paid me dearly for what is called in credit card company terms a "Change in Terms Notification and Delinquency Payments Notification". Evidently credit card companies feel they have the right to do business however they feel fit. They feel like it is ok or necessary to change their agreement with their cusomers and if the customers do not like it they can leave. I chose to stay. There is no fee. I have a low limit and I always pay it off in full whenever I use it, which happens to be rarely. This review is for all the other Capital One card holders who might have been greatly impacted by this decision to change the terms. I am sure if you had a large balance and could not pay this change would have been hurtful. Evidently this terms change is serious and somebody somewhere is trying to fiqure it out, so be careful who you deal with some companies are desperate in these hard economic...
...

This card has come in very handy as a credit builder. After going through a long and tough divorce and ending up having to file bankruptcy I have been struggling to find any credit, even in small amounts to help build my credit back up. Capital One offered me this card with a low credit limit but with 6 months at 0.00% interest on my purchases. Also, after making a purchase and making my payments on time for 3 months they increased my credit limit and after doing the same for 3 more months they will increase it again. This means a lot to me. The interest rate is somewhat reasonable compared to some others and the small annual fee is worth it to me to get a favorable credit rating back. I may not be able to cruise across the world with the credit limit, but for an emergency or maybe a new appliance it is great to know that I have this card to fall back on if needed.
...
