I give Capital One credit card a poor rating. The card was actually great until I missed a few payments.I know what you are thinking that is your fault why did you miss payments?Well yes I admit that was the beginning of my mistake.I tried to fix my problem I made a phone call to capital one to set up a payment plan. Will let me start from the beginning I was behind 25.00 like i said I missed two payments my balance with late fees and interest was 225.00.So i set up a payment plan the lady on the phone knocked my balance down to 95.00 as long as I agreed to pay it within fourteen days I sent the payment in full within fourteen days. My statement came again the next month it said I made my 95.00 payment but it still had a balance remaining of 200.00.I called back talked to a supervisor that stated to me: Yes we have receive your payment but your 95.00 was not included in your late fees and interest. Then I explained to him that I talked to someone over the phone and the young lady reassured...
...

When I recieved my Capitol One Visa card about six years ago, it was a great card. My interest rate was low, and my minumum payment manageable. Now years later when I have been unemployed for almost two years they have raised my interest rate and minumum payment. Mind you my credit score is still excellent, but how long will that last when they have done this to me. Capital One, what's in my wallet? Nothing.
...

I have personally had some credit card issues in the past and try to steer clear of them. However, my capital one card is the only card I still have and use. The rewards are pretty good. I simply put my gas and groceries on the card through the month- pay it off at the end of the month and in the end I've gotten about $10 back in rewards. Sounds like a good enough deal to me!

When I first started using this card I had some trouble receiving my statement and then they would charge me late fees. The customer service reps were really good and cleared those off for me.

One thing I do not like about the card is that I can not make a payment over the phone without paying their fee. I always make the payment online which works fine but I find it annoying that I can't just pick up the phone and pay it. When I pay it online it takes about a day to apply it to my account and another day or two to draft it from my checking account.

One other thing that bugs me about it- I've had this...
...

I applied for my Capital One Platinum Visa card in 2003 and have had it ever since. My limit is very low and hasn't changed since I got the card but that doesn't bother me at all because it's low enough that I can pay it off every month and don't have to carry a revolving credit balance at all. The customer service associates are friendly and they strive for one call resolution of any problem. They also have a program called credit inform which is a program that for a small fee of $5.99 a month they help you monitor your credit rating and your credit report by sending you a free credit report every three months which includes your credit score. I would recommend to anyone to sign up for this service its a small fee an since i have had it I have watched my credit score rise which is actually pretty cool, plus it tells you where you are compared to the rest of Americans a neat feature too in my opinion.
...

Capital one is a credit card i would not suggest to open uless there are no other options available. I have been their customer for more than three years, always paying on time and never going over the credit limit. Out of the blue they have raised my APR from 8 percent to 17 a couple of months ago. They have justified their actions as an unfortunate but necessary measures . I do understand many credit card companies are raising APR's now due to hard economic times, however not more than double! It is a rip off!

I have an account with bank of america, american express, chase and city bank, none of them raised my APR more than 4%!! Moreover, some of them ( like bank of america for instance) swithched my account to one with rewards for no fee, while capital one refused at my request, saying that I would have to open a new account if I would like to have rewards!

Besides, their web page is not well thought of and organized comparing to other banks.

The Capital One Visa Platinum business card is a great card to own. For one it covers all your business needs. The customer service for this card is great, and Capital One overall has a great company. A few times when I sent my payment in late they didn't charge me any late fees or service charges. If I ever had a complaint about a certain issue they always worked in my favor and fixed there problem according to what I said. I have had experience with a lot of companies that were one sided and did not want to take back certain late charges or fees but Capital One always took care of the issue with a great atmospheric energetical behavior and stood by the term that says "the Customer is always right". There low interest rate is a plus. It is lovely to have your statement come in every month with only a dollar or two in interest fee knowing your getting the most for your money out of the Capital One Visa Platinum Business Card, unlike other credit cards that are scams where...
...

My Capital One Visa Platinum credit card has never caused me any problems. My credit limit increases slowly, which I appreciate as a college student as I have less temptation this way. I receive all of my statements online, saving me time and helping to prevent the killing of trees. Unlike many credit cards, I always have plenty of time after receiving my statement to pay it. The payment due date is about three weeks after I receive my statement. I also pay my bills online. In order to do this I had to store my account information online; there was no option to enter it each time I made a payment. I was nervous about this, and although I would still rather not do it this way I have not had any problems with my accounts. My card also had a pretty beach scene on it! I originally got the card during high school in order to increase my credit rating. As a working college student, I now use the card for emergencies, never leaving a balance on it long. It has worked very well for this purpose....
...

We got our Capital One card because the interest rate at the time was only 4.9 %. That was suppose to be the for ever rate but then the economy started to get bad. Once this happened they raised the rates to 9.9%.
We still like the card and the rate isn't to bad. I can't wait to get it paid off so I don't have to use it any longer....

I'm so disappointed with my Capital One credit card. While I know that more and more banks are trying to recuperate money by messing with their credit cards, Capital One decided to raise my rates for no reason.

Even though I had a credit card with a lower interest rate, I had stuck with my Capital One card as it had always been a good and reliable credit rate. I used it as my everyday card, but paid it off every month until recently. Do to some medical bills and a little travel, I had accumulated a couple thousand dollars in debt. While I continued to pay more than the minimum payment every month and always on time, they decided to raise my rate from 12.9% to 17.9%! The only way to avoid the rate increase was to close my card. Instead I decided to switch to a credit card through my credit union that has a 6% interest rate. I realize that Capital One is trying to recoup money, but I cannot agree with their decision to do so by going after good customers.
...

The Capital One Visa Platinum credit card is just okay. There were some pros and quite alot of cons to owning this credit card. It really didn't live up to the expectations I had for a credit card. The biggest con of all was the customer service. Customer service means so much to me. I also didn't really like the customer service too much. The card served a good purpose in that I was able to expand credit to some degree. However, I wish the customer service was a bit more helpful, friendly, and considerate. At times, I felt like my request were ignored and things took to long a time to process. For instance, I needed a letter sent to me and it seemed like the proper department was simply too difficult to get to. I didn't understand why they couldn't just fax it to me. I don't think that the reason for my review here is because of negative reports I've heard. But what they say is true: A negative report goes further than a positive one.
...
