I got this card to use on a European vacation to get cash as I needed it. I thought I understood the terms and conditions, but I was wrong. I was charged $10 every time I got a "cash advance" from an ATM machine. Not only that, I was charged 24% becase the "cash advance" was unpaid until the due date. What I mean by that is that even though I paid the amount owed in full on the due date, I was still charged a finance charge because there was a cash advance on the account in the time period.

The card was advertised as having an introductory 0% finance charge for the first few months. After talking with a rather snippy customer service representative, I immediately cancelled the card.

Don't make this mistake. Stay away from Capitol One. Predators!
...

Capital One has been in my wallet since college. It had the neat water drops on the front - very hip. The rates jump EVERYWHERE! Balance transfers rates and timeframes are great, but then the rates skyrocket! There is NOOOOO middle ground! And trying to talk this out with a customer service rep is near impossible. I resorted to email. All the emall responses go around in circles - not addressing my specific rate questions on current balances and history of rates, instead the rep recites my current terms and conditions. There is no opportunity to negotiate, no attempt in keeping my business, nothing.
...

UWPiPhiAngel says "No annual fee = No credit" about Capital One - No Hassle Cash Platinum Visa

As of July 2009 - There's no annual fee if you have excellent credit, which I thought I did with a credit score in the upper 700s with all 3 bureaus, however I was declined. My boyfriend was also declined. I've had Capital One's card before, but I canceled because of the $29 annual fee. It was a little hard to let go because they had raised my credit limit to $4500, but why pay to have a card when you should be getting paid? Maybe if you're trying to improve your credit score...

When I visited the Capital One site a few months ago, they had the no annual fee offer available for "good" and maybe even "average" credit, but now it's only available under "excellent" credit. From what I can see on their site now, anyone with less than stellar credit history should go for the Capital One MTV card instead (no annual fee, point system can basically earn you 2.5% cash back on entertainment).
...

When I use my Capitol One card I know that the interest rate will be good for me. I don't use any other credit card except for AAA Visa. I am sorry to say that Sears,Penny's, ect even though I have them, I don't use them because their interest rate is way to high....

After 6 years of having Capital One Visa-No Hassle Rewards card, I'm closing my account. Because I normally pay my balance in full each month, I don't pay attention to fees and policies on late payments. I paid one payment online ONE HOUR late a few months ago. I knew I'd get hit with interest and I paid it. However, the next month I got hit with interest again on all of my charges even though I paid in full and early. I called and was told that's their policy--2nd month is charged interest no matter what. I asked to speak to someone who might have authority to waive this interest given my 6 years of history with them and excellent credit score (over 800). They put me on hold a while and the same person came back only to say no one could talk to me and they wouldn't waive the $104 in interest. I asked if he understood he was about to lose a 6-year customer who gets them merchant fees on over $35K in annual purchases and he said he was sorry but there would be no waiver. ...
...

A great card for people with bad credit trying to reestablish their credit but a terrible card in the long run. High yearly fees just to have the card, very small credit increases, high monthly finance charges, and no grace periods. On-line access is not always available and payments made on-line don't always post properly (especially if your paying close to the due date). High penalty charges for going over your credit limit even if its over at your statement time due to the finance charge. Customer service has been just plain rude making statements like "You should keep a closer eye on your finances" and "You need to resolve double payments yourself with the biller, those are not our problems", which may be true but at least they could be nicer about it. I don't like this card and will be getting rid of mine before the next yearly finance charge is assessed....

This was the first credit card I ever got as a college student. It is a great product for people who are just starting to build their credit.

Once you do get some credit though, I'd recommend moving on to a new card. The company is very stingy with credit line increases, and their APR's aren't outstanding.

Overall though, I don't regret getting this card. I never had a problem with it, and it did allow me to build enough credit to get better cards with rewards and such.
...

I have capital one visa card there services is fine however capital one does not tell you that they don't report your credit limit to the credit bureaus because of this it appears that your are always maxed out even if you only have a small balance. With this said they have even admited this to me when I asked ... They also do this so you appear to be BIG SPENDER with your cards and are not appealing to other hip credit card companies.. There is also a class action law suit pendig... Capital one may give you some points however your credit score takes a hit anytime you balance is more than 30 % of the actual balance avail for spending. Since Capital one does not report your limit it always appears you are at your max of 100% of your balance which does affect you points and your appearance to lenders.
...

Capital One is pretty well known today. You see advertisements everyone. What everyone probably doesn't read is the fine print. Some credit cards charge you over a $100 dollars to use that specific credit card. My brother was going to sign up for one until my mother told him to read the fine print. Be sure you know what you are getting into before you realize you are paying alot more then what you bargain for....

This card is not good for someone who pays there bills in the mail. If you are even a day late they up your rate and put finance charges on your card with that new rate.

You may get lulled by the commercials BUT where is the Customer Service when you NEED it...You can't talk to a customer service agent or get a Postal dated POSTING which is now overrided by their Eastern Time Zone computer clock. Annual fee(s) are posted ahed before the Annual Renewal date so...if you decide to cancel the FEE you have to chase the Supervisor to CANCEL the CARD relationship.

Automation takes the HUMAN touch away from YOU and the company.

NOT worth IT...
