I just bought one of these cameras to use for those family pictures when you want to have a camera handy. This is a great little camera that takes wonderful pictures with just a push of the button. I let my elderly mother use it as well but she did find that it was too small for her fingers. She kept putting her fingers in the wrong place so you might want to look at something a little bit bigger for that elderly loved one in your life. But for those of us who just want to have something handy that fits in your pocket for those " I wish I had a picture moments" this is the perfect solution! It takes quality photographs with minimal work. You really can't go wrong with this unless you want control of your camera. This is the perfect aim and shoot camera. You can't go wrong with a canon!

I've always had sony cybershots, but I ventured out and got this little Canon Power Shot SD780 IS. I'm loving it! The color on it is more vivid and has more contrast. the "blurring" with small movements is much less than with the cybershot. I'm impressed!

The Canon Powershot SD870 is a really good camera for regular use- I take it out with friends and family, to sporting events, etc- I've gotten some great pictures with the zoom of athletes at sporting events. However, it is not a camera that would last forever-- I treat mine well and it has slowly developed some issues. I'll be looking to replace it in the next couple of years (I've had it for a year) so don't buy this and expect it to last too long.

This camera is awesome. It's been dropped, beaten up, packed and unpacked, and used used used. Still going strong after a year and a half! Great options and the best part is that the battery is rechargeable--no more running to the store for AA's! Takes a standard memory card that can be put into most laptops and uploaded easily. It's basically plug and play. Easy to use, easy to learn, fun, durable, great value for the money. I'd suggest the Canon Power Shot to anyone.

I have owned a Cannon Camera SD870 for quite a while and love it! It is not excellente but it takes nice and crisp pictures. For a regular person like me this camera is perfect. It has 8.0 megapixels of resolution, an optical image stabilizer, face detection, a large 3.0 inch lcd, auto ISO shit, and 3.8x optical zooming. It takes some time to get use to all the features that this camera offers but it is easy to use. This camera takes wonderful pictures but the bad thing is that it has poor light performance. I would really love it more if this camera would have the crop and zooming features after the pictures have been taken. But again I really love this camera and wouldn't change it for any other!

I got the Canon SD 870 for Christmas and haven't found a single thing that I don't like about this camera. Awesome pictures, tons of features, easy to change settings and very intuitive to use. My wife has a Canon SLR professional style camera and I honestly don't see any difference in the quality of pics. Another great thing is the screen. Although the camera is relatively small, the screen is huge. It's easily 8/10ths the size of the whole camera. Makes reviewing your pix, very easy to correct errors and take again if need be.This is one sweeeet little camera!!

I love Canon when they use to be made to last like Nikon they use to be so expensive but was worth paying for it when they last for ever...When the prize started to come down and not for a reason they made up grade on this cam. you need to start to ask the question why and where are they made, start marking your calendar because you will need to replace them soon or returned them to the store, because they are not going to last very-long and quality is not as you expected like before...Japan makes great elect. but when they start sending their stuff to China too do not expect great quality.

So it is not good to pay less for a products that is easy to brake. Even the frame works are so cheaply made...I have a total of 4 cams that is Canon the old one still the best one because China never got their hands on it then....

this is a really great camera. I needed a camera for having my first child, and this is one that I got at an amazing price on clearance, and I just love it. the quality is amazing. I use it for video's just as much as I do for pictures, and it is great!!! It has beautiful picture and the quality is great. I recommend it to everyone.

Great camera. very stylish ..My friends are really jealous that I own such a beautiful camera..It has got very big screen 3 inches...you hardly find big lcd in photoshoot category. It takes great pictures..the picture quality is awesome. Only negative thing i found that- it lacks a viewfinder.Also its button are a bit small if you have big fingers..
Overall a very good camera..if you are looking for the ultimate photoshoot camera with superb looks and very good picture quality then you have to stop by and take a look at this camera.....

I did some serious research and compared this sd870, the sd750 and the new sd1100's with IS. I LOVED the large screen of the sd870 and sd750 but wanted the IS of the 1100... so, after actually buying all 3 (the nice sales folks said I could try them out and return the 2 I didn't want) and comparing image quality, color etc... I was sold on the sd870. While the IS won't cure every movement, it definitely helps and I am glad I got a camera with it and I am so pleased I went with the HUGE screen. It's amazing. I wish that the sd870 had the image resizing tool in the camera like the 1100 does-- all the 870 has is resizing for websites-- you can't choose where to crop the photo. However, it's no big deal to resize with the editing software so that's just a teeny minor issue. If you're on the fence, go with this camera!...
