I was in New Mexico over the summer and had taken my husband camera on the trip which worked fine, until I dropped it and had to replace it right away. I went to a local office supply store and they had one Canon Powershot camera left. After careful study about this one with the salesman, I bought it. I loaded the memory card from the old camera right into the new one and was off taking pictures. The zoom is great, but can be somewhat fuzzy pictures. It's not a Nikon and you will not get Nikon quality pictures, but for the price, it is a good choice. Particularly if you are like me and do not care for all the gizzmos and gadget fads and simply want a quality picture from a usable camera, this camera is one to check into. Moving around within the camera is easy and so is the download of pictures. Overall the pictures are hit or miss in quality because of the lens and zoom, but again for the money it is still a good quality camera.

The Canon PowerShot SD550 digital camera has been working out wonderfully for my family and I. This compact camera has an elegant and stylish design, while still maintaining it's funtionality and ease of use. It is small enough to fit into your pocket, which makes this a great camera to use if you're traveling or at a social fuction. It even provides you with a wrist attachement for easy access. Though prone to scratches, you probably don't have to worry about it breaking on you. This is a solid camera without being overly heavy. The zoom is easily accessible. There is also an auto flash and auto red eye reduction. There is the option to use various special effects and shootong programs. Not to mention the pictures come out nice and clear! Although if you are looking for a camera with advanced controls, this might not be the best choice for you. I think that with a little practice this camera would be easy for anyone to use, young or old.

Incredible digital camera. Small compact and is able to take beautiful pcitures. It can detect faces and prints beautiful pcitures. Yet small enough to put in your purse or pocket. I would recommend aeveryone getting it becuause it is under 200 dollars and does an amazing job. I use it all the time when I go hiking on the beach and out with friends. It takes great pictures at night and day. It even does well on moving objects when I take pcitures of moving objects. It doesn't take with the case so you will have to buy the case and a little extra memory, however it does come with a battery and the chrager which is great. People buy very expensive cameras and then never use them but this camera is relatively inexpensive made by canon and does a great job in everday life. ofcourse if you are a photographer you need a better camera but for everday user I can't find a better camera for the price and its works great.

I received this Canon camera as a christmas gift last year and I love it!!! I have a 2 year old and it takes great pictures of her running, jumping, and every other time she won't sit still. I have never had a problem or taken a bad picture with it. The photo quality is just absolutley amazing! The only bad part is that it won't even turn on with cheap batteries, it likes energizer the best. But they last a good while. The zoom is great and easy to use, I can zoom in 16 times and still have a good picture. I would reccommend it to everyone!

The Canon Power Shot A550 is one of the best available digital cameras on the market. What makes this one of the best is it's size, it's ease of use, and the great shots it takes! I just keep it in my purse on weekend getaways and I forget it's there. It's very light and compact and is ready to use at a moment's notice.

I received the camera as a fabulous wedding shower gift and I put it to use immediately! I got great photos of my shower, my "bachelorette" party, my wedding and my honeymoon in Europe. Now after two years, I'm still using it for all my vacations, my special occasions, and any great moment I want to capture.

I am not technologically savvy - so thank goodness this camera does not require use by a technically-minded scientist. I just download photos at the local photo shop (or drug store) and I have hard copies of keepsake photos for albums or frames. This is a gem of a camera!

When I decided to replace my outdated digital camera, I researched like crazy. Trying to get good quality without spending both arms and legs. I finally went with the Canon PowerShot A550.

At first I loved it. Good quality pictures, easy enought to use. But I think what I liked about it was that it was so much better than my old 1.3 megapixel unit. After using for a while, I disliked it more and more.

The quality of the pictures is OK, not great. The scroll to view pictures is slow and it does not have a thumbnail view. The settings (outdoor, nighttime, etc) are labeled with pictures that don't really help indicate what they are for. I am a dummy when it comes to cameras and could use something easier. Sometimes I set it on "night shots" and the flash does not go off. Other times I can't get the flash to NOT go off and the pictures are all washed out.

I also found that the camera eats batteries WAY too quickly. I was taking photos for ebay listings and found the...

We use the Canon Powershot camera at work and it seemed pretty nice, so I bought one for personal use. Outdoor photos are always perfect. Flash photos indoor are pretty good, but redeye is common. It's awfully fast and shutter lag is non-existent, very nice for a lower end 7mp camera. I'd consider stepping up to a model with pop-up flash if most of your photos will be of people (to minimize red eye), otherwise, it's a great unit especially given the entry price.

I reviewed many cameras before making my purchase about two years ago. I am a pet groomer and I wanted a camera that had quickness in turning on and taking a photo. Pets don't have a "stay there" pose. So, that was most important to me in buying this camera. In purchasing it, I found that it did in fact have a quick response time in grabbing it and turning it on and clicking for a photo. I also found that the type of memory card was easy to use at digital printing stands. I really liked the compactness of the camera which I could throw into my small purses without feeling like I was lugging a suit case around (like my other Canon). For the price this camera was great. I waited for a sale too and got a free gift card at the store I bought it from. I went ahead and purchased the extended warranty too. My Canon Powershot A550 is one of the better digital cameras on the market, This is the second Powershot I've had and like it better than other brands I've used. One of the nicest things about using the Canon this model you use rechargeable batteries anywhere, you aren't limited to the battery packs like the first Powershot G-2 that were very expensive.

Presently I'm photographing the construction on the bridge on RT.441 over Swatara Creek in Middletown. The job Superintenate said he never had an album from start to finish. So I told him I don't mind doing it if he likes the shots and he said they look so professional.

The sofware that comes with the camera, is the simplest one I've used. But I do have others that I've incorporated with the original.

I was able to use this right out of the box, and found the menus easy to navigate. I found this very user friendly as well. In the future I will definately buy more Canon cameras....

I had this camera for several years and loved it! I dropped it quite a few times and it held up very well. Eventually I used it at summer camp and ran over it with a golf cart. However, I liked it so much that I bought another Canon.

The pictures that the camera produced were excellent. I really enjoyed this camera.

It was given to me as a gift so I am not totally sure of the price. However, it had to be fairly resonable.

I did use the different settings but only a few times. Auto was the setting I used most often.

Easy to use, produces great pictures, controls are simple. I have four dogs and it gets great shots of them running with little to no distortion of the photo. It's a real pleasure to take this on vacation because I can be confident that the pictures I take will be great. This is my second digital camera and provides a lot better quality picture. Software that comes with the camera makes it simple to download photos on to your computer and categorize them. ...

This is a small, easy to use camera. It has many tools on it to use for how ever you need to take that picture. The manual is a good thing to hang on to and READ. You can simply take pictures with this camera, but after reading the manual, you realize that you have purchased a lot more than you thought of in a camera. Good for beginners and pros...

It's ok camera. I had to replace my Nikon. This canon has sound with videos-Great. But I prefer my old Nikon.

If you're clumsy, this camera doesn't take a drop as good as a Nikon. Trying to find a better inexpensive camera that takes better indoor photos.

The colors are off for indoor lighting without the flash. For indoors, I can't seem to find the right combination. Maybe it's the lighting of the room. I have to switch back flourescent lighting because with tungsten, it's not soo great.

For outdoors the colors come out vivid rather than true to color like the Nikon takes them. I've had 2 Nikon already. Well, you can check for yourself and compare photos online.

A positve for this camera, you don't need a tripod to get a great photo.
