We love our Canon products! We have had tons of Canon cameras, printers and scanners. We had the previous version of this camera and when the Powershot SD 1000 we bought one for us, one for my mom and one for my father in law. I like that it has the video camera option and it is easy to switch back and forth. I thin the buttons and function in the menu are easy to figure out even if you don't have the manual on hand and of course we never do. I also like that since we have had Canon cameras for years the menus and settings stay pretty much standard to you get used to using it and don't have to relearn all of it every time you upgrade! I also like the fact that they have point a shoot settings that we can set it to and leave it on when our kids use it. I have found that it is very durable and with 4 kids that is always important! I am also never worried to carry it around since it is small and durable!
...

Got this camera 2 years ago and use it on a fairly regular basis since. It's a great camera and I've never had problems with it. It is small and light so it is easy to hold with one hand. Has a lot of useful features/settings so you can have different size/quality pictures. Settings are really intuitive so you don't even have to read the manual to be able to use it. Having said this, it is always a good idea to read the manual. This camera came with 2 manuals brief and full. I found the brief version to be the most useful. Unfortunately, I lost it pretty soon after buying the camera so I am stuck with full version. And this full version is surprisingly not helpful. But this is the only con I can think of.

My previous camera was using standard batteries so I was delighted to discover that this camera uses its own battery which comes with a special charger. But this battery was made for the camera so if something happens with a battery it will probably be pricy to replace it.

Overall I really...
...

I remember I asked a waiter to take a picture for me at dinner. Right after he takes the picture he says, "Wow! This is a really good camera!" and asked me about all of the specs that it had. I must say that the quality of the screen is one of the best I have ever seen (for a point and shoot) and is so small that it can fit right into your pocket! I definitely have no regrets about this Canon SD1000 and would do it over again if given the chance. Go Canon! My last camera was also a Canon, and neither of them have ever done me wrong.
...

The Canon SD1000 Digital elph is a pretty good camera. The pics are really top notch, and you can just point and shoot. I've had it for about a year and haven't even bothered to check out all the features, but every so often a situation pops up and I discover something new that it can do. It's really small and very handy. It comes with a wall charger and keeps a charge for a long time.
Sometimes there's a lag between when you press the button and when the shot is taken....it depends on some mysterious factors I haven't figured out yet but light seems to figure in. It fixes the light on some shots automatically and that's really nice. The short video mode actually works really well. It seems like many of the problems with the early digital cameras have been resolved.....so....if you're still struggling with an old digital....it might be worth trying a new one.
...

I love my canon power shot sd1000, it is small and convenient to tuck in my purse and always have on hand. It is also very easy to use, takes great pictures and has a rechargeable battery. It is everything I was looking for in a compact camera. I have two grandchildren and hundreds of picture memories, Thanks Canon....

I bought this camera about 5 months ago and it has been great! The pictures always come out clear, and there are some really nice features. It is small and has a high resolution 2.5 inch, scratch resistant LCD screen. It also had face detection and red eye reduction. I looked for a camera for a while and when I checked the Best Buy website, I noticed that the SD-1000 had the best reviews for the cameras in its price range. What really sold me was the fact that is was on sale for $179! In the end, I am extremely happy with my purchase, and have had absolutely no problems with the camera since I purchased it. I would definitely recommend it. You can't go wrong with a Canon!!...

The Canon SD1000 camera is a grat camera. Small in size, large in features. 7.1 megaPixels, both optical and digital zoom, and face detection. It works great and takes great pictures. I liked this camera so much, that when my daughter's friend threw her purse and broke the camera, I bought another one. I just LOVE it....

This is an excellent camera in a mid range. great quality and very user friendly. My Wife and I have found this camera to be everything we expected and more. Its compact but packs a big punch. Canon has always produced a great product and this one falls into the same category.

...

This camera is good buy. It has night mode which is good. The zoom feature is also available.
An SD card is needed to store pictures. The battery is re chargable which is better than AA batteries. The only drawback is one has to wait a little time before the picture is captured....

baileymouse says "Great little pocket-sized camera" about Canon - Power Shot SD1000

This little camera takes amazingly clear pictures. I was looking for something small to carry on vacation, and the Canon SD1000 fit the bill.

In spite of its compact size, the camera has a sizeable LCD screen that helps you see exactly what you're trying to shoot. The color tones in the LCD are really crisp. The face-recognition feature is a great plus - it helps make sure that all faces in the shot are in focus. The auto focus works very well.

The camera starts up very quickly, and there's no waiting before being able to take a picture. I like that. I had a Fuji that used to take forever and this is a welcome change.

If you're looking for just a little bit more, like image stabilzation, you might want to go for another model. However, the price of the SD1000 can't be beat for a camera of this quality.

The rechargable battery lasts a long time and the charger folds flat for convenient travel. I've had this camera since February, 2007 and it's come with me to Vancouver, Seattle, Montreal and......

Purchased this camera based on reviews I found online. I was not disappointed. I have recommended it to several others. It does everything I wanted it to do and then some. Great pictures, compact size, excellent battery life. The battery charges quickly, so you don't miss out on too many photo ops. I highly recommend a case to protect the delicate screen and an extra memory card for storage. Love it!!...

This is the third Canon Power Shot camera that I have owned. I use one for work since I take a lot of pictures that need to be downloaded. I have another one that I use strictly for personal use. My original camera lasted me three years and still takes great pictures but the LCD feature finally broke. Believe me it took a beating before it broke (I must have dropped it at least 15 times and nothing happened to it. The one that I use for work is set just to the smallest size and works great. My personal one I took to three weddings this summer and I have to say that I got clearer pictures than some taken by the professional photographer!! As a matter of fact I was very disappointed when I saw the professional shots since I had many of the same images and mine looked just as good if not better in some instances. The camera is a sinch to use and the pictures are easy to download. I have recommended this camera to several friends and many have bought them. I just love...
...
