I got my canon lide 200 from amazon.com, based on the positive reviews, it turned out to be pretty reliable scanner, it is very useful as I can convert most of my important documents like passport into digital format through the use of the scanner. The scanner has the easy to use software with it (although it's claimed that a third party software called vuescan is superior to the one from the manufacter, but I'm pretty satisfied with it)

The scanner basically can either scan the document into a picture file (like .gif, .jpg) or a pdf file, with different choices of resolution available. The scanner can be attached to computer via a USB without the need of power, and it's very light too, although the size is not very compact. (I wish it's a size of a A14 paper as most of my documents would fall into the size of that, and it would be very convenient to carry around)

The scanner I got is made in Malaysia, I've had it for around half a year and it's pretty durable, although I don't use it...

WHAT'S THE 411 ON THIS PRODUCT?

First, let me say that for 13 years, I've bought and owned no other printer or scanner that wasn't made by Hewlitt Packard! And during those 13 years, I thought that HP was one of the best products out there.

Not so now!! The HP printers - that is the 2 latest ones, and then the HP scanner have all stopped working!! Right after the waranties had expired!

WHY I'M SO ANGRY, FRUSTRATED & THROUGH WITH HP:

The HP scanner that was in use or supposedly was in use, had stopped working, mainly because the software is not compatable with Windows Vista. When I called them to ask about it. they told me that since the scanner is no longer in production, that there is no updated software for it that would be compatable with Windows Vista, and that if there were, it would cost me about $80 or so!!

Then they told me that they could help me get the scanner working again, but said that they'd charge me $59.00 to do it!! I'm not paying that!!!!! That's when I decided...

This scanner has a variety of options and can scan excellent photos with low-med-hi dpi options. Easily sets up one-touch-scan options, no separate power needed as it pulls power from the PC. Highly recommended.
