a100indecisions says "No secrets when reading the ingredients list" about Canidae All Life Stages

We adopted our Bull Terrier from a family that was unable to keep up with her energy levels, and they told us she was on a very strict diet of Iams. A coworker switched her dog to "the raw diet" after learning that some of the ingredients in commercial pet food were given scientific names to hide the fact that they were animal parts of domesticated and/or euthanized mammals. I knew that feeding our dog strictly raw food would be too much work for our busy life, but I didn't want to feed her the cheapest food I could find - or anything that you could pick up at the grocery store (or even gas station). So I went online and searched for the best dog food - and Canidae kept coming up. It wasn't sold at the grocery store - or even at the big box pet stores - it's only sold in smaller, independent pet stores. This means it costs more than Kibbles and Bits, but I feel much better about feeding our dog something made from the same ingredients her human owners would eat. There is nothing artificial...
...

Canidae All Life Stage made my dog very sick. If you use this dog food, keep a close eye on your pet for any signs of illness that your dog did not have previously. Try any other food and see if your dog's problems begin to lessen and disappear. Would have saved hundreds in vet bills and my sanity if someone had informed me of Canidae's "New and Improved" formula....

After a year on Nutro my black and tan 6 year old dachshunds hair started coming out. She had eye discharge and looked horrible. The hair she had was brittle. I tried adding eggs in her food and dream coat. The vet could find nothing wrong with her. I switched to nutro and within weeks her hair was growing back with in 3 months she had a thick soft coat again....

I wasn't aware they changed their recipe, only the size of their bags. But my dog let me know. He began vomiting the first day I started him on the new smaller sized bag. Unfortunately, I ignored the signs and waited a week before searching for a new food. I'm so disappointed and am still on the lookout for a food as good as the old Canidae....

We have tried MANY MANY MANY dog foods and done enough research to drive one insane. This is one of the BEST foods available in our area. It is hard to find at times but it is worth it if you can find it. Our dogs (currently we only have 6) LOVE it. We have used a variety of different foods and finally found one that they all like.
...

After recently losing a four year old rescue dog to cancer, we decided to look for a healthier food product. Our dogs have always been spoiled and getting them to eat dry dog food was always a challenge. Our newest rescue dog took to it without any trouble. Our older four year old rescue dog (who isn't always motivated by food), loves it and generally cleans his bowl. The vet said the calorie content may be too high...but I am ignoring that bit of information...my dogs are highly active and weight is not an issue right now. Great product, well worth the money....

angiew901 says "Excellent food! Prevents and helps with many health problems" about Canidae All Life Stages

Unfortunately, both of my dogs have had a few health problems-including allergies and digestive issues. After experimenting with many different foods and brands, we discovered Canidae. All of our dogs health problems were solved very quickly after the switch. (Well, except for the chicken allergy, which we solved by feeding the Lamb formula.) When all of the recalls were announced earlier this year, I felt very comfortable and safe feeding this to my dogs despite the hundreds of foods that were recalled. Canidae has never had a single product recalled, unlike most pet foods and products on the market. Their snap biscuits are also a great product. They are very reasonably priced and a great quality. My only minor complaint is that this product can be difficult to find, I wish it was more widely available (but not at the expense of the quality.) My dogs have shiny, healthy coats, small normal stools, they are perfect weight, and we have really seen great results from this food....

Awesome dog food! My girls are very picky eaters, for the longest time they would only eat the Purina crap you buy at the grocery story. They love Canidae. It's the most cost effective dog food you can buy that doesn't have all the fillers in it. I drive an extra 30 minutes away just to buy it. It averages around $1 a pound and it's a really good quality food! Other foods with similar ingrediants cost twice as much. My dogs are 5 and 10 pounds, both a senior and an adult. My parent's dogs also eat it- 15 lb adult and 30 lb puppy.

I definitely recommend this to dog owners who are looking for something better. Toss the Wal-Mart mess and go pick up a bag!
...

I looked into this food after the pet food scare. I started looking for foods with no by-products. There are very few products out there that qualified. After much research I chose this brand. My Shih-poo is very picky about his food and I wasn't sure how he would react. He immediately loved it. I will never go back to any other food....

I first discovered Canidae when it was recommended during the horrible pet food scares this past year. Canidae not only uses only Human Quality ingredients, all of those ingredients are from the USA. The food is also produced here.

My dogs love it. The kibble isn't very big, which means it's easy for smaller dogs to chew too. The "Life Stages" formula is a food that is so well balanced, you can feed it to all ages of dogs so you'll never have to switch.

It's more expensive than cheap brands of food but it's worth it to know what you're dog's getting.
...

Excellent food.. Human grade ingredients, no wheat, no corn, no cancer causing preservatives or dyes.. No fillers or garbage ingredients.. No sugars.. All quality ingredients.. Well balanced diet, don't need to supplement at all.. Dogs love the food.. Eat far less than the cheaper foods, they really enjoy eating the food.. Even dogs that are normally fairly picky, can't get enough. No trying to encourage them to eat.. They are asking for dinner.. Great coats, shiny, lots of energy, bright eyes, nice stools, health skin and coat... I couldn't be happier with this Dog food.. I would recommend it to anyone with a dog.. It's good for puppies, adults and seniors. No need to try and decide when you should switch from puppy to adult or adult to senior.. Comes in a 40 lb bag, instead of those rip off companies who charge more and give you 30 lbs.. I am very very happy !

...

potranquita says "If you love your pets - consider Canidae" about Canidae All Life Stages

Canidae is a great product. Since all these death have been occurring with the recent pet food contamination, I've been looking around for good to feed my babies. Canidae gave me peace of mind, knowing that I was not feeding them JUNK. Please stay away from any food product that has "by-products" listed in their ingredients. "By-products" can be anything from, road kill, dead zoo animals, entire poultry (beaks, feet, feather), and even euthanized dogs/cats (which include trash bags, collars, tags/IDs, and most importantly the substance they've injected to euthanize that animal with). All of that is labeled by companies as "by-products" - to keep the customer from knowing what really goes into making pet food. So please steer clear from such products. And with the recent wheat/corn contamination - I'm staying clear of that as well.

All of the Canidae products are made the with superior quality in every bag and can with NO corn, wheat, soy, grain fractions, fillers or "by-products"...
