Britmick says "WORSE THAN BAD!" about COX - Cable TV

Wise up Cox, your product is getting old, your excuses are getting old, & I was getting old waiting for you to get me a 1/2 decent picture at two different houses!

Guess what I did?

I went out & bought a decent outside antenna, & now I get 45 channels with PERFECT reception for FREE!

Someone in your Las Vegas offices should really get to grips with your worse than bad service, you will eventually have to wise up, or you'll all be applying for jobs with Direct TV & Dish Network!

I also think that the 'Vegas city council should free up some cable space for independant TV companies to stop this monopoly that has been allowed to Cox Cable Las Vegas!

And as a footnote, their latest TV adverts show smarmy know-it-all kids trying to tell adults what a great service Cox is......this is despicable!
...

QACJET says "Cox tries but they're not up to the task" about COX - Cable TV

I've now had Cox for 2 months. The internet service is OK, although the advertised high download speeds don't seem much better than the DSL I previously had. Also, their so-called professional installation fees are absurdly high. The installer was here for ten minutes, during which he plugged in the modem and used my bathroom. The TV service is seriously deficient. The HDTV channels are good, even though there is a messy and slow process in switching channels. The problem is with the digital, non-HDTV, channels. The sports channels, such as ESPNU--not available on HDTV--come across as a complete blur when action takes place. And I'm watching on a 46-inch Sony Bravia. For the sports fan, Cox is really a disaster. Non-HDTV channels are unwatchable, and sports channels offered by DirecTV (Fox Sports, Big Ten, Mountain) not available on Cox. I've been informed FIOS is coming to my condo, so I'll soon be bidding adieu to CoX

djohnson420000 says "Cox Sucks But most American companies suck just as bad!" about COX - Cable TV

its a shame cox sucks, but they all do! As americancs we should be used to third or forth rate service! We have asked for it for over a century, so I guess we have nothing to complain about. As far as Cox Sucking, we have the "fastest" internet package available for Meriden Connecticut, Meriden is a city but it is full of unemployed people, so what should we expect, a higher than average bill for somewhat average service, it is fast, it is as fast as Comcast, difference is the price, if you are Tech savy, get a T1, if you can afford it, and if you live in an area that Cox Serves, try to save for a T1, if not the fastest Cox has is alright, we have 5 phone lines running on it, and three pcs, a ps3, and two cable boxes, never misses anything, my only real complaint is

1. CUSTOMER SERVICE,

typical customer service for American based Corp

2.

They have down time A BUNCH compared to the competition in the Connecticut Market, one a month after 12:00 at night you will lose internet service for...
...

roadwarrior2008 says "COX lies about free High Definititon in commericals" about COX - Cable TV

COX lies all of the time about its free High Defintion programming in their commericals. The COX programming does not cost anythng extra directl;y but in order to access the High Defintion channels such as movies and music you need to pay for a monthly fee on each box for all channels over 101 channels. If you do not have a box, which you have to rent via them, you can not get any of HD programming so it is not "free" no matter how many times it states it. Rather than charging for HD programming COX is charging an access fee PER TV.

The only equalizer is that other service mediums other than COX lie has much as COX does about its advantages.
...

COX COMMUNICATION IS AN OVERPRICED PRODUCT WITH TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I HAVE THEM FOR MY HOME AND BUSINESS AND BECAUSE OF ANOTHER FIASCO WITH THIS COMPNAY I AM DROPPING THEM FROM BOTH MY HOME AND MY BUSINESS!

I WILL PUT THE WORD OUT!

I PURCHASED A BUSINESS AND DECIDED TO STICK WITH COX BUT THEY DECIDED AFTER I SIGNED TO INFORM ME I WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PREVIOUS OWNERS BILLS! GOOD THING MY ATTORNEY HAD IT IN WRITING THAT I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR IT. COX DID NOT WORK WITH ME ON THIS AND SAID BECAUSE I SIGNED I AM THE ONE GOING TO PAY THE OLD OWNERS BILLS OFF.

WELL COX - ONE I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS AND IF YOU CANT COLLECT FROM YOUR OLD ACCOUNTS YOU NEED HELP! WHY WOULD I SIGN TO USE YOUR SERVICE KNOWING THE PREVIOUS OWNER WAS BEHIND IN HIS PAYMENTS?

I signed up with Cox four months ago, and I had no idea at the time, but it was the biggest mistake I have ever made. The guy on the phone talked me into getting a bundle, which I thought was pricey, but it did sound nice. He told me that, because I had good credit, the $150 deposit would be waived. When my first bill came, I was furious when I saw an extra $150 on there for a deposit. I called Cox and they told me I had to go to a store and show a photo ID. Not once did the guy who signed me up ever mention this. I went to the store and showed my ID and the lady said it should be removed, but that I should call to make sure it was taken care of. It was no surprise when I called two days later that the deposit still was not removed. It took me another 2-3 calls before I finally got a CSR who was competent enough to actually remove the charge. Strike two was was when I looked at that first bill and saw that they couldn't even spell my first name right, even though I clearly remember spelling......

I have had Cox Communications service for the last several years. They absolutely care about their customers, their service, and whether or not they are meeting customer needs! On the phone they are extremely courteous, helpful and care about getting the job done and done right the first time. In all the years I've been a customer I have only had ONE rude Service Tech arrive at my home. Cox trains their customer service reps and techs locally, and I like to support a company who does not out-source to other countries! Cox Communications has won 1st Place in The Daily Nonpareil Readers Choice Award for several years running.

My only complaint is the automated system when you have a technical problem. I went through everything it told me to do step by step, and of course I had to disconnect the call to do some things they instructed. When I called back in I had to listen to all the garbage I already went through. That was aggravating. Other than that, there is little down time even...
...

I have always been a Time Warner customer and thought that when I moved to Lake Forest that I would be able to transfer my service to my new home. Unfortunately COX cable is now my cable provider. I have never paid so much for little service. At Time Warner I had premium movie channels, 1 HD DVR, and 3 regular DVR plus Internet and my bill was approximately $140-$150 a month. Now that I have to have Cox cable, due to high prices. I soon will be paying $120 a month for 1 HD DVR, 1 regular Box with no DVR, Internet, and no movie channels. I feel that Cox is way overpriced and I hope that someday soon a different cable provider will come to the neighborhood.

Customer Service: When I picked up my boxes at their center I asked the representative if I owed anything. He said NO and that I would be billed next month. When I finally received my bill 1 month later it was $250. I was being charged for 2 months and told I had a very overdue payment. How unfortunate that I never received the bill...
...

I grew up at the end of the world. Well actually, to get to my parents' house, you go to the end of the world, take a left, and go down about 8 miles (if you don't believe me, go to Mapquest, pull up a map of zip code 71320, and see how many times you have to zoom out before you see anything you recognize). When I was growing up, the local cable company changed almost annually, the service was terrible, and a stiff breeze knocked out the cable.

What does this have to do with Cox? Well first of all, Cox was not one of the myriad of cable companies I had growing up. Second, it gave me an appreciation of cable that doesn't go out at the drop of a hat and has decent service.

For the most part, Cox is very good:

I seldom have an outage. I do live in a city, which I believe helps.

The selection of channels is great, even though I never watch a majority of them.

*HD channels are free so long as you subscribe to the corresponding standard definition channel.

If you get DVR, you won't know...

...

Cox used to have above average service for Cable TV and Internet, but their customer service has decreased in the last year. The NHL Center Ice and MLB Extra Innings packages are nice, but expensive, extras to get with the digital cable. The HD package is a great extra, as well. I have a great package deal with them for digital cable, phone, and internet, but it is getting very expensive to get all the channels and services that I want and the outages have increased while the customer service has decreased substantially. I used to feel like a valued customer, but in my last few phone calls (regarding outages and service disruptions), I felt like a red-headed step child. I have tried requesting supervisors to speak with, but to no avail. I would give the cable and phone a satisfactory rating, but the customer service is unsatisfactory. I will be considering other providers. ...
