I love my Brother printer and have had it for over a year now without any difficulties, but recently I had a problem with it and the "timing" is off now. It jams all the time. When I call around to see if someone can fix it, all I hear is "printers are so cheap these days that your better off buying a new one" The problem is that I love THIS one, plus, other people may thing $100 is cheap, but I personally don't. To me that is a lot of money!!! Why can't they be easier to get fixed?

The print quality is great and the paper feed always worked wonderfully until this problem. It is very simple to use and very easy to switch from print to scan to fax. I have used different kinds of ink with it, the factory packed ones, the refillables and all of them work great with this printer. A downfall of this printer is that when one color of ink is out, it won't print at all.
...

PissOff says "Hope you don't run out of ink on Brother MFC-240C Printer" about Brother MFC-240C Printer

Brother MFC-240C Printer - this has happened to me numerous times. I hate the printer. It will just simply stop working. No warning. Today I am sitting here, once again, trying to print a simple little document, and it will not print. Why? Because it's out of ink. If that wasn't bad enough.. like, I would expect it to continue to at least TRY to print it, even if it was a reduced quality, or a lesser darkness.. but no, it just simply stops. The worst part tho, is that I am trying to print in just 'black'.. on here it has to be 'grayscale only'.. and even though I have black ink, it will not print. Why? Because it is out of yellow and cyan. Now that is REALLY annoying. Ink is also expensive. You get a cheap printer, you make up for it in the price of ink.
...

eddan2 says "Good printer but has some short commings" about Brother MFC-240C Printer

The Brother MFC 240C is a good printer, but has several short comings. First, the document feeder only holds about 10 documents. The copy mode has only been able to do one copy at a time even though a number of copies was selected. Sometimes the document feeder will feed more than one document at a time (you need to watch it).

The good part is that it offers very crisp resolution in near laser quality letters. I have noticed that pictures have a good resolution. The printing is relatively quick.
...

We've owned this all-in-one printer for about a year now, and in this case I think you probably get about what you paid for. The software could really us some tweaking, particularly on the Paperport end. It has been great as far as stand alone faxing, however, and that was the most significant feature of it for our home office....

MildlyDisappointed says "Brother's MFC Model 240C is okay" about Brother MFC-240C Printer

Brother's MFC Model 240C is a very good deal for the money. Last spring I paid around $60 after the rebate. However, I found that the colors were not sharp and crisp. You could definitely tell the original from the copy. In addition, you should know that places like Staples and Walgreens will not take back the empty ink cartidges. Staples will give $3 back for Lexmark, HP, and Dell cartridges and Walgreens will print a coupon for 10 free digital prints (a $2.90 value). But you're out of luck if you try to return the empty Brother cartridges. I wish that I had known these things before I bought this copier....

I was looking online for an all in one printer for under $100. Whent to Office Depot and was lucky to find this one for $99 plus a $30 mail in rebate. Great deal!

The set-up was very easy, too aprox. 15 min. and I was ready to print. The automatic paperloader from the top (just like an office copy machine) is very handy for quick paper loading, but the paper tray that holds up to 100 sheets if very nice for everyday use.

Faxing is very easy and I can use my home phone number as my fax number to send or to receive.

Scan and print quality are very good.

It's also nice that each color comes in it's seperate cartridge. There is no waisted ink.

All in all, I'm happy with my purchase, I have yet to see how long the ink will last. I've owned this all in one printer for aprox. 3 weeks.
...

It has all the functions I need and I got a really good price for it, but it lacks the user interface of hp all in one printers.

I hope the will get there soon, int he mean time I do appreciate Brothers effort.

also there is a weird pop up error on Mac OS computers when you turn the computer on and brother is saying is Apple's fault but they are the ones who wrote the driver...

pamden says "great product for the money" about Brother MFC-240C Printer

This all-in-one printer, scanner, copier, and fax machine works very well for my home printing needs. I have used it for a long time now, and had no problems at all. Cheap ink replacements can be found on the internet. It gives great quality printing and is very inexpensive, compared to most printers with the same features. It is a little slower than my old HP printer when printing high quality pictures, however the speed is only slightly slower, and it makes up for that small fault with many great added features. The fax machine is awesome. I highly reccomend this all-in-one printer system to anyone that has a smaller budget like myself. It is sold at Office Max stores....

I have owned this printer for several months and have yet to replace the ink cartridges, even though it warns me they are low. I print most documents for my personal use and use ink saving strategies to do so. I am very pleased with the quality of the print. I did order ink on line from 123 inkjets and recieved genuine brother replacement inks for $4.95 each. Each color is separate and with black, thats 4 cartridges. I paid 49.00 for this after rebate at Office Max.

It has a 10 page document feeder for copying and faxing. I read some bad reviews on this but I have been very pleased
...

I bought some online, off brand, cheap ink for my Brother printer and it glombed it up so bad I actually had to send it back to the manufacturer and ultimately had to replace it on an exchange basis. Fortunately, they didn't charge me anything but I did have to do without my printer for about two weeks....
