NicholeNanney says "boring" about Brokeback Mountain

in college, required movie to watched & I hated it. It was boring and not interesting and I could care less seeing two gay guys have sex on a movie. This movie was repetitive and they kept going back and back and back to the mountain. If they loved each other so much then they should have just left their wives and went off together....not that hard. Terrible movie....don't think college's should recommend it for reviewing either ! ps I am an education major ??? wtf does that have to do what watching Brokeback Mnt. ?
...

tmontanya says "this was the best gay movie i have ever seen" about Brokeback Mountain

broakback mountain was the best gay movies i have ever seen since torch song trilogy which started harvey fierstein. Brokeback mountain was filmed in canada but id looked a like the west coast of the united states of america. It was to take place in montana i think or wyoming. but the scenery was very pretty and the back drop with all of the mountains in the back was very pretty. I would recommend this movie to anyone who would love gay cowboys.. and poor heath ledger who is now dead was a a very good even great actor with jake gillinhall as his longtime boyfriend. a great heartwarming stoiry of who gay cowboys in love. unfortunanly jake dies towards the end of the movie. but the best part was when health went to jakes parnets house and grabbed his shirt that was in closet. made me cry like a big baby!
...

pitcherday says "I liked Brokeback Mountain and I'm not a romantic person" about Brokeback Mountain

I'll admit it - I waited a while to see Brokeback Mountain. There was so much talk about the gay sex scenes. I really don't care for gratuitous sex scenes that do nothing to elevate the plot in any movie. How stupid did I feel when I actually saw the movie? VERY.

It's a love story, and probably a little more sappy than I would like. As for the "big, gay, sex scenes?" Oh, please. Get a life. I think if this story had been about a heterosexual couple, I probably would have shut it off. The thing that made it interesting to me was the challenges and issues facing the two men at that time. Ennis (Heath Ledger) and Jack (Jake Gyllenhaal) seem so different from one another, and under any circumstances, I would not put those two together.

Ennis is quiet, reserved, and level-headed. Jack is passionate, impulsive, and hot-headed. Both actors turned in great performances in this film. I know some people had a problem with Jack's death at the end of the film. I thought Ennis had foreshadowed it,...
...

erikkx3 says "Brokeback Mountain is an intriguing, daring, film." about Brokeback Mountain

Brokeback Mountain, starring Jake Gyllenhal and the late Heath Ledger, is a tragic love story between two gay cowboys. Taking place during a time when homosexualism is considered to be a moral sin, this movie pushes its limits by displaying a sexual affair between two men. Despite many controversial remarks, Brokeback Mountain is a must-see film. Although I would love to say that this is a great movie for everyone to watch, it does involve many controversial topics and isn't recommended for children under the age of 18....

iluvflowers says "Great love story for most" about Brokeback Mountain

Broke back mountain was a great love story. Ive heard alot of negative reviews from people strictly due to the fact it is based on the love between two men. If people could have an open mind and get past that fact, they could see the beauty behind the story. I watched this movie intently and got carried into the plot, it is a very heartwarming story of deep love, you get carried off to almost feel the love as if you were in the movie, it has a sad but all too real ending i personally cried. I feel it is the best love movie of all time so far that I have had the pleasure of watching!...

perrrkiss says "look at the meaning of the movie and not about 2 gay men" about Brokeback Mountain

I feel if someone hates a movie so strongly they didn't look deep into the meaning of the movie. A movie can mean many different things to each person. Try and see yourself in that persons shoes to see what you would do or how you would feel. I thought the movie was very good, but I didn't just look at it as 2 gay men. It was about 2 people that loved each other and could not display it one because they were gay or could have been from different race's or rich and poor. what ever the reason the love was real and many different people go through this type of love. On that note I am a married woman with 2 kids and I myself do not condone the act of homosexuality but it is not my place to pass judgment against anyone. To each their own. I do believe the movie was good.
...

asherah says "Not Great" about Brokeback Mountain

I thought it might be great but it wasnt, and I was left rather disappointed in a film that did have potential. Now that the poor guy is dead, I feel badly writing a less than stellar review, but the acting just wasnt up to par, the plot left a lot to be desired. The scenery was exquisite, and there were some poignant moments, but the sad ending just made a mediocre film that much worse....

It was a good movie. It held interest and really had a good story about two men trying to hide feelings. The only thing that was not good in this movie, was it was hard to understand them, the way that they talked especially Heath Ledger, it sounded like someone talking with food in their mouth. Sub-titles would help resolve this. Beautiful scenery throughout the movie....

This movie was a big disappointment. I love Heath Ledger and seeing him in this role I was hesitant to watch any of his other movies. I thought there would be more of a love story but there wasn't. In fact is was a sad depressing movie and left you in an odd mood. The soundtrack was the same sounding song over and over. There was lots of hate and anger and was just an odd movie!...

Not trying to bash the movie, however, I think that I did not have a lot of substance. Not having anything to do with the homosexuality of the film, just the film in general was very dry. My big emotion, is that I DO NOT want this movie in the household of children. For some child to see this would be devastating....

What began as a brilliant short story in New Yorker magazine evolved into a heart wrenching and thought provoking film. If this movie isn't evidence that love is love, no matter your gender, socio-economic status or age, I don't know what is. The movie doesn't just show one side of the story though, but tells the stories of everyone involved. One of my TOP TEN favorite movies of all time....
