qulic68 says "AVOID!" about British Airways

Well, it seems that BA's already has quite a reputation for losing luggage. It turns out they have the appaling 46% higher rate for this than any other airline! I have already had a bad experience with them several years ago and I swore I would never fly BA again, but still ended up on their flight because they are in partnership with my primary carrier. Sure enough, a short flight from Paris to Heathrow was enough to make my 5 day trip to a conference in London miserable. The luggage didn't arrive, which may happen to anyone; but for the following two days they kept telling me that I would get my bag within hours, while in reality they couldn't (or wouldn't) locate it. No wonder: as it turned out on day three, for who-knows-what reason they decided to return the bag to the States! Since I was at a very formal conference (gave a public speech, gala dinner, etc.), they told me they would reimburse me for the clothes that I had to buy for up to 800GBP (mind you, I had to spend more...
...

I have just got back from England, visiting family, on British Airways. I have used them for the past 22 years of visits.

Even though they have cut back on some of the extra special treatment, they used to give us, the quality is still higher than most of the American airlines.

I was able to go on-line before my visit and put in my passport, visa details, etc., and 24 hours before get my seat. I was able to get one with extra legroom, which was wonderful.

The flights were on time, the food was a dinner and breakfast going out, and lunch and a snack tea, on the way home.

We had individual television screens and movies on demand. This meant I could choose my own movies when I wanted to see them. I watched 4 on each flight.

The drinks are free, including spirits, wine, and beer. They came around with orange juice and water throughout the flights.

Landing and customs cards were given out and a video showed you how to fill them in.

The flight attendants were really helpful and...
...

British Airways..

Food for vegetarian is awful..we opted for vegetarian, however they had nothing except beef or chicken to serve :).
Service is very poor (it maybe cause of my ethnicity - asian/indian, i found it a little baised or maybe they are like this with every customer, i am not sure :) ), with very unfriendly cabin crew..
I boarded BA twice and same experience.
The only thing I like about it is the individual television..
I travelled in the economy class
...

Cooldude27 says "An awesome plane" about British Airways

British Airways is the most realistic airline I've ever traveled on. The food is really delicious. If you finished your food and you're still hungry they let you have any extra food. The TV shows in the plane don't come on until two hours after take off and sometimes when the channel signal goes you get really bored.

When you're in business class in British airways the fun never stops. You get the most delicious food and can order anything on the menu any time you want for free. They also give complementary orange juice or water when climbed on board the aircraft. Your chair also folds into a bed so you can sleep nicely.

The flight attendants are really nice. They give a gift for kids too. They don't just give a deck of card or a book or something. They only give prizes to kids on limited aircrafts only. The last plane I went gave every kid a bag filled with a book, a...
...

Sushbee says "Don't ever fly BA" about British Airways

WHY ONE SHOULD NOT TRAVEL BY BRITISH AIRWAYS Our flight from Delhi to San Francisco via Heathrow started off on a rather bad note with fog delays causing the flight to move from 3:30 AM on the 30th December, to 7:30 AM. However, we were informed of the same by phone, and accordingly changed our plans to reach the airport by around 5 AM. I think I can pinpoint that THIS is probably where the nightmare started. As we were standing in the check-in line, we were interrrupted by a BA employee who surreptiously informed us that the flight, BA 142, on the 30th December 2008 was further delayed to 11 AM. We looked around in confusion, since no sign reflected the change. However, due to her insistence, we called up our pickups in San Francisco, and informed them of the change. When we reached the counter, however, we were more confused since the BA check-in lady, a young woman named Ashika seemed completely unaware of any change and calmly disregarded the info change to pack off our......

wallace6 says "Brittish Airways - A Step Above The Rest In Comfort" about British Airways

I have flown on many airlines and I have to say that Brittish Airways provides the best level of service, most comfortable seating, & best food in coach class that I have found.

We flew from Seattle to Edinburgh, Scotland in 2007, this was my first international flight. The flight attendants were exceptionally friendly - never once did they act as you were bothering them by asking for something. As a matter of fact, at one point in the night I pushed the call button because I was thirsty and wanted some water. The flight attendant brought water without me even asking for it.

One of the little things I appreciated were the footstools for your feet. It might seem trivial, but it made such a different in being comfortable.

They also provide an eye mask, socks, toothbrush and paste, and other items for you to freshen up with.

The drawbacks: they lost our luggage in London and it didn't arrive in Edinburgh until the following day; the connection in London to Edinburgh was too tight; and their...
...

I had a bitter experience with british airways. I purchased a ticket with BA but was not allowed to board the flight since I had no transit visa to UK. My travel agent suggested me to go ahead with a different airways and I would get credit for this ticket. When I returned, BA had marked me as "No Show" and denied any credit. How can you say "No Show" when you didn't allow me to board the flight?

This is their policy and it sucks. I would never ever fly BA even if they offer free tickets. I would also not recommend anybody if you are not sure of your transit visa requriement.
...

Flight from Detroit to Amsterdam (and back)was ok.. altho we had to sit somewhere else, because we couldn't sit together. We had a 2 year old at the time... so they moved us to first class. That was a nice move, but the area had not been vacuumed.... At the arrival back home, the luggage was there, but not the stroller (that we had bought a week before we left). They sent the stroller though a company, that simply "dropped off" (literally!!) at the beginning of our driveway. The stroller was damaged, parts were missing, cloth on it was ripped...
It is VERY hard to get ahold of people at BA, so we gave up on that after a while. Not a good experience for such a big company. Won't be flying with them again, unless we have to....

My family of 4, including 2 kids under 12, travelled from Seattle to Belgium on British Airways. They made my kids feel right at home and gave them little backpacks full of travelling treats like crayons, a coloring book, a book and candy.

Seats were like any other airplanes-crowded and not terribly comfortable. But, the television that each person had made us forget that.
...

So, i know nowdays with the failing economy, people are more skeptical then ever of airlines, and thier nickle and diming you. But in all honesty, that isn't BA. Quality is associated with the name. Be it a 2 hour flight or a 12 hour one, the staff on BA make sure your jounrey is exactly what you're paying for. The econoomy seats are above average for a transatlantic airline, and don't even get me started on their business and first classes.
...
