This carseat is the best! My husband and I purchased this when our oldest son was a baby and need to get out of his infant seat. We had a vehicle that had a hard time with rear fasting carseats. It was very hard to loosen and tighten the straps on all the other carseats that we tried. The Britax Marathon has none of these problems. The seat has such good quality to it. It's easy to install and the straps NEVER twist or get folded over. I recommend this carset to everyone that I know. We have a cheaper carseat and you can totally tell the difference in quality. The other carseat is harder to put in and the quality of the carseat just isn't there. If you are willing to spend the extra money for the Britax Marathon it is well worth it. I have not been disappointed with it at all and have not found anyone who has one that doesn't like it. The other advatage of it is it goes up to 65 lbs. I feel so much better having my kids in carseats verses boosters!
...

This car seat has been great for our family - the safety ratings are among the best on the market. While it is pricey, I feel it is worth it for the safety of our son. He continues to be rear-facing at almost 21 months- this car seat is plenty comfortable for him now and he has plenty of time to grow into it!
...

ecunitz says "So worth the money for this carseat" about Britax Marathon

I received my first Britax Marathon as a gift from a relative. I was so impressed that we saved for a couple of months to buy another one for my husband's truck.

This car seat is super easy to install and take out (think trips to grandma's and having to move it from my car to hers for the stay).

Even taking the carseat apart for cleaning is easy. My daughter suffered from motion sickness coupled with acid reflux, and unfortunately for 2 years we lived out in the boonies with a 1 hour + car trip into town or to work/daycare etc. She would often throw up in the car, all over herself and the seat, couldn't tell you how many times I had to take it apart and wash it, but it was so easy to do. Thankfully we eventually moved closer to work and no longer have the hellish commute anymore.

My daughter loves her car seat. She is currently 3 yrs old, 36lbs, and 37" tall. She has plenty of room left to grow with this car seat.

Great value for what you pay. Very sturdy car seat, some of the best accident...
...

I purchased the Britax Marathon for my first baby after I heard how strong and safe it was. I used to use the Graco infant carrier so when I received the Britax Marathon, I was surprised at how big and bulky it was. I guess it's because it's very strong but the height of it was too high, everytime I put my baby in I have to be careful not to hit his head on the roof the the car ( which I did few times...ouch...poor baby). I am now considering changing the car seat to something that wont take up so much space and does not sit so high in the seat. I do appreciate the dependability the Britax Marathon offers and the design is very nice as well. If I was to change it, I would make it less bulky so that the back seat can seat more than one person even with the carseat in it. Right now I can only seat one person with this huge thing taking up so much space back there. It is too expensive and the namesake is not worth such high price tag. If I was more educated with the subject...
...

The Britax Marathon Convertable car seat is one of the best products we've bought since we have had a baby. We loved it so much, we bought one more to put in our second car. Our son is comfortable in it as the material is soft and the frame allows him to sit with appropriate support. Other car seats we looked at didn't seem to offer the support it does on the child's lower back and that has been a concern of mine. With this one, his back is snug all the way into the car seat, but he can see around without trying to move his body forward. Even when he was a very young baby, he seemed more comfortable in this convertible seat than in his carrier combo. The harness is very secure, yet it is easy to click and snap - can be done quickly - and our son does not fuss when we are putting it on him. The extra pads provided on the harness are the same material as the seat itself and have a soft coolness to them. Seems like it would be pampering to wear them near your body. Very sturdy, fun...
...

I knew that Britax was a name that people thought of when they think of safety in car seats. When we started looking into a convertable car seat for our son we immediatly started looking into Britax. The Marathon is a middle of the road Britax, meaning there are some less expensive and some more expensive. We wanted to not spend too much money while maintaining safety for our son. We we able to test out the Britax in the store and the latching systen is the easiest I have ever seen. This is great if you are switching the car seat for car to car or taking it out when you need to. The car seat comes apart easily for washing and one can figure out how to put it back together with little effort. The manual is attached to the car seat which is very handy as you will not lose it but if can be a little hard to read it. The Marathon also comes in different patterns to fit any shoppers needs. We opted for a black and gray one that can be used for either gender. We have used this...
...

Britax has developed one of the best reputations among car seat manufacturers and a loyal following of parents, thanks to their focus on safety and ease of use. Unlike many other brands, they give special attention to side impact safety and to the fit of the seat in the rear facing position. We have three Britax seats (diplomat, Marathon, boulevard ) and have been very happy with all of them. I get asked a lot about buying the Britax Roundabout versus the Britax Marathon. Hopefully, this review will help answer that debate, the Britax Marathon is not necessarily better than the Britax Roundabout, it really depends more on your individual needs and the size of your car. If you are interested in the Marathon Car Seat, I would also suggest that you check out it's cousin, the britax boulavard, which is the same size seat with added safety features.
...

Charleston says "Most amazing car seat ever" about Britax Marathon

When I first began researching which 'big kid' car seat to buy my first child I kept hearing how great the Britax Marathon was but then I saw the price. It was a difficult decision to spend $200 on a car seat but once I had it, I knew I'd never choose another one. I absolutely LOVE this car seat. I can tell how safe my child is in it, plus how comfortable he is in it. Someone had given us a much cheaper car seat before we purchased this one and my son cried all the time in it because it was so uncomfortable. The marathon is another story. I wouldn't mind taking a ride in it. I have to say my favorite thing about it are the velcro tabs. I know that is silly but it really is so nice to have the straps not in the way when trying to get my son in it. Also, the cover is very easy to remove and wash. You do have to get it all out of the car but really - it is not a problem.

My only con to this car seat would be the bulkiness of it but it is not that big of a con and you soon don't even think...
...

When the time came to transition our daughter from her infant car seat to a bigger, forward facing seat, it was important for us to choose a trustworthy brand.

The Britax Marathon CS has so far proven to be an excellent car seat- one that our daughter can use for years to come. The seat was fairly easy to install- though I did hear my husband cursing once or twice. :)

The 5 point harness and side impact protection are great features that give me some peace of mind.

Our seat is the crimson color, and it is nice and vibrant. We have several friends who also own the same car seat and they all agree that this seat will last for years (and future children) to come.

My daughter seems comfortable in the Britax Marathon CS, and she was definitely excited the first time she got to take a ride in it. She loves facing forward and yelling at things that she sees out the window! I would definitely recommend a Britax to others.
...

The Britax Marathon carseat is the best carseat we've ever bought by far. We have 2 of them for our children (ages 2 and 5), and we like them much better than the Evenflo or even the other more expensive Britax newer model whose name is escaping me. We did a lot of research before buying our first carseat for our daughter, and each time the Marathon was recommended by not only online reviews but also by our own friends and family members. THey were quite a bit pricier than other carseats, but once we weighed the benefits of them vs. the price it really seemed to make sense. They are very roomy, and have a generous weight limit so they can be used for a number of years (the 5 yr old is still in her carseat and potentially could be for another 30 lbs or so?!) The seats are very comfy for our children and they are by far the easiest to adjust, which is a huge bonus for me as I'm constantly adjusting the seats to accomodate for coats and whatnot for the wacky weather we have in the...
...

I recently looked into buying a britax carseat. I went to the store and thought this carseat looked like anyother carseat. I didn't see what everyone is raving about. I know the only difference is the price. I can not believe people would actually pay that much money for a carseat, don't get me wrong....satefy is very important to me. But is spending that much money going to make your child any safer? Sure they will look "cool" and you will be able to brag about the expensive carseat Brandname you own....but your child is just as safe in any other normally priced carseat. I don't get it. Do they last longer, meaning that they dont "expire" as fast as the other carseats? I thought they were all made out of the same plastic? I think Graco is the brand we used for both of my kids carseats and we have never had any problems with the carseats anytime. I would not recommend this brand of carseat...just so you know

Britax is the brand for car seats, and the Marathon is a great choice for a convertible. Although it can take infants (5-35 pounds rear facing), an infant carrier is best for the really little ones - but once they've outgrown it, the Marathon is the way to go. As a convertible, it can Rear Face or Forward Face - and don't forget, just because your child has reached 1 year old or 20 pounds does not mean you Have to turn them around! The Marathon Rear Faces up to 33 pounds, so you can extend the safety of your child. Easy to install either way with the LATCH system, this is also one of the few seats that has a top tether that can be used when Rear Facing. Both of my kids have loved this seat - it is super comfy for them and i feel good knowing that it is super safe. It may cost a little more than others, but it will hold you until 65 pounds! it's got a great lifespan to it.
...
