ElizabethAnnR says "William Wallace was Braveheart and a hero in Scotland." about Braveheart, Widescreen Edition DVD

William Wallace, aka Braveheart, was an independent individual and a hero by chance. I have seen Braveheart, the movie, and there have been several documentaries presenting his history. Braveheart was produced, directed and starred by Mel Gibson. I believe this is one of his best films.

The film won five Academy Awards at the 68th Academy Awards, including the Oscar for best fictional film, Academy Award for Best Picture and Best Director, and had been nominated for an additional five. The film was produced by Icon Productions for 20th Century Fox.

Mel Gibson's performance in Braveheart was true to the legend that is William Wallace. For those who have not seen the film, William Wallace lived in Scotland and the oppressive rule of Edward I of England, aka "Longshanks", led to the death of Wallace's father and brother. Wallace was raised abroad by his uncle. Wallace returned to Scotland intent on avoiding the ongoing troubles. Wallace rekindles a romance with a childhood friend, Murron....
...

awesomechick says "Braveheart-Need I Say More?" about Braveheart, Widescreen Edition DVD

Braveheart. This has been one of my favorite movies since I saw it when it first came out in theatres. Mel Gibson, who is one of the main actors, gives one of the best performances he has ever given. Braveheart is one of those movies where you get so hooked on what's going on with the characters and the plot that, before you know it, you're watching the credits stream across the screen. Yes, it is a very long movie, but believe you me, after watching this movie, you will be thinking to yourself that it wasn't long enough. This movie is full of action, adventure, and a little romance. There are some very awesome (and blood/violence-filled) action scenes.

If you are into well-told stories of epic proprtions, then this is definitely the movie for you. Trust me, this movie is anything...
...

Mel Gibson portrays William Wallace, a Scottish rebel who fights against the tyranny of England and her king, Edward the Longshanks. Wallace's new bride was murdered by the English, causing him to rebel against them. His uprising catapulted the Scottish rebellion against the rule of England.

Mel Gibson stars in his greatest role of all time. He is fantastic as William Wallace. He really makes you believe that he is the character. Gibson's performance makes you want to follow him into battle against the English. He also directed this epic, which is doubly impressive.

Patrick McGoohan is perfectly cast as Edward the Longshanks. His character is brutal and vicious. He was a wonderful choice to play Wallace's foe. Gibson's direction was simply spectacular. This film had some of the best directing and editing of all time. The battle scenes were vividly realistic. The fighting was beautifully choreographed to depict the brutality of the time.

Braveheart is one of the greatest movies to come...
...

Braveheart

A Great, Great, Great, Great, Movie. It has everything: action, comedy, love, story, and for the ladies, Mel Gibson. It also has the greatest battle scene in movie history, especially the part where they show their asses. I think it has been downhill for Mel Gibson since Braveheart, but this movie will always be an epic. The Scots wear Kilts, but they are all men, and the English are evil doers. I am sure the Irish love this movie. And don'f forget we will get the same Mel Gibson in America but not as good a movie in the Patriot.

Long live dashing heroes. Pass the popcorn around and keep seeing this movie on a DVd player, hopefully Blueray.

G-Man saying enjoy your Thanksgiving and Happy Holidays
...

So, this film won a few Academy Awards. So, many people think this movie is good. So, my wife and I were still dating at this point and we shared the experience of watching it for the first time. So, this is when it clicked for me that if my girlfriend(at the time) was so cool in the way she loved this film that I should probably marry her(so I did). All this aside, my God, this was the best film ever made in history. I love movies always have, always will. I've seen many incerdible and fantastic films, but Braveheart is the only film to touch the very essence of my soul. Biographical, heroic, tragic, romantic, compelling, funny, and yes BRAVE. It has everything!!!! I've seen it probably 35 times, I'll watch it anothe 150 times or more and stil enjoy it thoroughly. The greatest news over the last year was the sp ed of Braveheart. I had been waiting years for this version. I was a little dissapointed with the extra features only because I wish there was more. Like 10 hours or so....

Braveheart is my favorite movie! What an excellent story and it does not seem like it's three hours long at all! Mel Gibson is great in that movie, and I love the mixture of politics, romance, and war all in the same movie! It's a little intense with all the violence, but it's appropriate for the intensity of the movie. It's a favorite for sure!...

I can't remember how I found out about Braveheart but, it goes down as my 3rd favorite movie of all time. I can't even begin to describe the epic-ness of this movie but, I'll try to after the plot summary.

Plot: William Wallace, a 13th century Scottish commoner, unites the people and battles to free Scotland from the English.

This movie is purely amazing. The acting, sound effects, special effects, action, costumes, and directing are all done perfectly. Mel Gibson plays the main character William Wallace and he also directed this masterpiece of a movie. The fact that he directed and starred in the movie is pretty amazing in itself. I'd assume that it takes a lot of work to pull both off so well. I haven't really liked the new movies that Gibson has directed, they just can't compare to Braveheart. The story of William Wallace is captivating and has elements of romance, war, drama, and even a few comedic parts. The casting was done well, and all of the actors really make me believe they're...
...
