I LOVE this magazine, so I'm sure I'll love the book. I hope to see recipes from popular restaurants, like they have in their magazine. I have so many recipes to request and so many that I've found here. The recipes get a little fancy, but if that's what you're looking for then you know where to go! Some recipes that I thought I'd never try have become more appealing to me as I get older. ...

greystarchild says "Not for the faint of kitchen heart" about Bon Appetit Cookbook

This is a wonderful cookbook for the ADVANCED cook. It is well illustrated, well desinged and organized into logical categories. The ingredient lists are simply stated and grouped. The serving sizes are also labeled with helpful information in case you make and store individual servings (this is rare in most cookbooks). The majority of the recipes, however, are fairly advanced and time consuming. You will need to not only know certain techniques (that aren't explained or outlined in the cookbook) but you'll also need to have special cooking utensils, pots, pans, etc in order to properly execute the recipes. This cookbook can add to a wonderful cooking experience if you have the time but for those of us with real lives and stress, it might see more time on the shelf than use. Buy only if needed. ...

My family has used Bon Appetit's web site, Epicurious.com, as a source for recipes for almost a decade. A handful of their dishes have become staples at our family barbeques and winter dinners. I myself have used the web site over the past few years when I decided to attempt to cook something like meatloaf or chicken marsala. Last December, I discovered the Bon Appetit Cookbook on a table at my parents house. I immediately picked it up and started to look through it. When my mother and father noticed how interested in the cookbook I was, they told me to take it home. Seems that Mom bought one for Dad and Dad bought one for Mom. They were willing to give it to me just to save them the effort involved in returning it. It was a great post-Christmas bonus!

This cookbook addresses everything from hot/cold appetizers to pizza/pasta to meat to fish/shellfish to vegetables to desserts. I've used it to make the seafood stew, tequila-lime marinaded beef, Beef Stroganoff, mozzarella...
...
