The best Texting Keypad Ever! more versatility than the standard 1-0 keypad and easier to touch than the 30-key qwerty layouts other blackberry phones have. Memory is limited at 64MB but storage of up to 8GB on a micro SD card is great for storing docs, pics, and movie clips.

I've never owned a Blackberry before. I switched from a Moto Razr on Cingular which was a piece of crap; now I have the Blackberry through Cingular with Blackberry RIM's email/internet service package. I wanted to try the push technology for email. Wow! Was I impressed. It's awesome when I'm away on business and I can receive/send my emails on the Pearl instantly without calling in for them or having to use an internet-based email client (I own the company and constantly have to be connected to what's going on there).

Yes, having multiple characters per key is not as convenient as one character per key, but after a little getting used to, it's type recognition software works perfectly. As the reviewer said, if you ignore the suggested words that appear on the line as you type, it will be much faster and it's damn accurate! I could never do text messaging well on my previous phones and therefore never sent them, but the type recognition on this phone has me typing full emails now with now...
...

lyss008 says "A mini Blackberry" about Blackberry - Pearl Smartphone Cell Phone

It comes with me everywhere - like my old phone, but I am now not ashamed to take it out! It's a smartphone disguised as a "dumbphone" with all the features that Blackberry has to offer. It does everything I need it to, except it tends to erase all my messages every now and then... must be because of its small memory capacity. Other than that I don't think I could ever go back to a non-Blackberry phone again!

One downside that I can think of (to be a fair review) is the fact that now I can't dial 1-800-PIZZA or the likes because all the numbers don't correspond like regular phones did! I really have to think of which numbers correspond to which letters - and sometimes go as far as checking on a friend's or stranger's dumbphone just to make sure what that number really is! It doesn't help that the businesses don't list their full number and just advertise their "cool" abbreviated number! Apart from that the phone works like a charm, and when I'm really in a bind, I just google the number!...
...

I had the Blackberry Curve initially and lets just say I had a little accident and no insurance so I purchased the pearl as a reaplacement. I hate the fact that it does not have a full keyboard. The memory stinks it barely works without buying the media card. The data plan is crazy expensive and I feel like to program a ringtone or add a person i have to go to 30 different places. The one plus of Blackberry is having everything on my outlook calander and remembering all my personal and business appointments. The worst part has nothing to do with the technology but what it means. It means you are never free from the office. I have had many an evening ruined by some idiot at work who doesn't know common email courtesy and wants to act like when I am gone the whole world falls apart and their is not another capable person around to fulfill my role. I was done with Blackberry when work ruined my trick-or-treating with my children last year. If its that important I'll find out tomorrow or that...
...

I have had this Blackberry Pearl for about four months now. I have gone through three of them for different reasons. My most recent problem was with the roller ball. It sometimes got stuck. Another reason that I got a new one are becasue sometimes it would randomly shut off. This phone comes in different colors. I specifically have the white. My little brother has the maroon color and my two friends have the charcoal color and the blue color. All of my friends say that they like the phone as well but they sometimes have the same problems as I do/did. I think that if you were planning on getting a Blackberry, I would go with the curve. I have heard numerous times that they have the most problems with the Pearl. This phone does everything, internet, text messaging, ...
...

This was my first smartphone so I don't have any other baseline of smartphones to compare it to for everyday use, but I have handled friends' and colleagues' smartphones and can compare based on that limited experience as well as comparison to my other regular non-web enabled mobile phones.

First off, one of the reasons I purchased this phone was its size while still being able to email. The size is great. However, along with that comes the limited keyboard, with two letters on each key. Typing with this phone is unlike typing with a curve or texting with a normal cell phone. While this is fine with me, because I prefer not to write long emails on it, perhaps I WOULD be apt to write longer emails on a phone with a full keyboard.

The Pearl comes in lots of fun colors and I like mine-in bright red. I like having the choice of non-black colors so you know which phone is yours if you are, say, at a BBQ and everyone's are lying out on picnic tables.

I have owned my Blackberry Pearl mobile phone approximately two years. I know I do not use all the varied features one can utilize on it since (1) I do not use it every day like I should; and (2) it has SO many features!

I definitely like the size/smallness of this phone. As a smaller woman, I find I can text with ease, with my smaller fingers. I also like the size because it fits well in my purse, not bulky at all. I have taken photos and send them from the Blackberry to my computer and then as e-mail attachments to my friends. I would not have been able to send those pictures otherwise. The pictures are clear and easy to take.

I also have subscribed to unlimited IM, text and e-mail messaging. With my current provider, T Mobile, the cost is prohibitative if I did not have said unlimited usage. Of course, I still don't use it very much.

I also use the Internet connection at least twice a week. I have it set to the Weather Channel web site and check the local weather. ...
...

When it was time to upgrade my phone, I really wanted to replace my old razor with a new pink razor. The salesman told me the current ones were even more outdated than the one I currently had. I reall didn't like any of the phones they had, and I am impatient. My husband had just recently bought the Blackberry curve, and I didn't want something that big, so I went with the Pearl. I had some trouble at first, and had to have the phone replaced a month after I got it. I like it, has more features than I need, and wish I had waited until my carrier offered it in pink, but that is my own fault for being impatient. It does keep it's battery life longer than any of my other phones. I am able to receive emails both personably and professionally. I wouldn't be able to go back to a regular phone. I just wish I had more knowledge of all the apps it has.
...
