I love new technology but technology does not like me. I try to stay current with the times but some of the gadgets have handbooks the size of a dictionary. I bought my Blackberry World phone for one reason only. I travel over seas and needed a cell phone that would keep me in contact with back home. I have tried other phones and the calls either would not go through or dropped. I have tested this phone several times over seas and it sounds like you are in the other room with the person on the receiving end. Simply amazing.

What was better yet, is the fact that the programs installed are easy to use for even me. I have big hands and love the size of the keys and the fact that there is a full keyboard. The internet is ready and available at the click of a button without lag time. Now I can leave my lap top at home and still keep up on my emails, news and weather. I have used this phone for over a year now and still it is problem free. I am impressed! The only thing that I wish this phone...
...

The Blackberry World Edtion has some great features, but is missing some essentials.

Pros:
The call quality and organization features are great.
No restrictions on where you can travel.
Good size.
Reliable.
None of the issues that Mobile Windows phones have.

Cons:
There is no camera, which I use constantly
The keyboard takes a little getting used to
The track ball also takes some getting used to
It is not as easy to sync to the office network as a Windows Mobile phone, especially if your company restricts the email server, as mine does

Overall, if you are a business professional and are using the phone strictly for business, this is a great phone. If you are planning on using it for both business and personal use, it may not be the best. I think I would have been happier with a different model of Blackberry and if my company would allow Blackberry use on our network.

...

Blackberry 8830 World Phone

My husband is self-employed which offers us the luxury of lots of family time and family travel but it is imperative that he is "connected" to his business along the way. Once upon a time, a lap top and a cell phone allowed him to go but always tagged along. A couple of years ago he invested in a Blackberry and was impressed that he could get any e-mail or fax message anywhere, even in the middle of a river.

Then the Blackberry 8830 World Phone came available and he decided to try it.

The result: We ditched the cell phone all together and use the Blackberry 8830 World phone exclusively. It is a small, sleek hand held office that allows us to take and make calls, send and receive e-mails and use the internet anywhere. We've traveled from Virginia to Montanna this year and so far we haven't found a spot where we didnt' have service.

The Blackberry 8830 World Phone offers:
*phone
*internet
*MP3 Player
*calendar
*address book
*memo pad

It has an easy to use......

I was having trouble with a previous phone, the Motorola Q, and replaced that phone with the Blackberry 8830 World Phone. It was the best switch I have ever made! This phone is very user friendly. It features a full keyboard which is great for texting. The only con I can say about this phone is that it does not have a camera. Overall I am completely satisfied with this phone, and would recommend it to everyone....

I purchased this phone prior to its release, based on the ads. I paid $500.00 for this device from Sprint. I loved the look, it is sleek and modern but that is where it ends. The phone doesn't have a camera and no sound. You have to purchase additional software in order to hear and see actual feed from websites. Based on the price and the reputation of RIM/Blackberry, I expected more especially being that this device debuted about the time as the I-Phone.
...

This is an outstanding and stable phone and is available in the US from Sprint and from Verizon. It's lightweight, dependable, full of useful features, attractive, and easy to use.

I was looking for a new handheld for business use, and this phone caught my eye. I support 100 users of various mobile devices, and have had plenty of experience with Blackberry, Palm, and various Windows devices. I wanted something that was going to be stable and useful without being bulky or difficult to use. After some careful research I decided to go with the Blackberry 8830. My company didn't have a Blackberry Enterprise Server, but it's free to license 1 user and install the server software so I just set one up on an old decommissioned server. It was easy to set up and has worked flawlessly for me. I may try to get approval to move my Blackberry users to the server to offer them the features that I have available.

This phone is essentially the same as the Blackberry 8800, but is for use in CDMA......

I recently got my first smart phone a blackberry 8830. I love this thing. There is so much you can do on it. I never miss emails and can keep in touch with friends with Yahoo IM. I highly recommend this smart phone to anyone looking to get one. Yes, I have seen fancier ones such as the Moto Q but, that one drains the battery quickly. I know numerous people who have it and they wish they had gone with the 8830...

I love my Blackberry 8830 and would not buy another phone on the market. That said, I still have plenty to complain about. First, the multimedia access is severely lacking. Yes, you can play MP3s...but has anyone at RIM seen a real MP3 player lately. I don't expect it to be an iPod, but maybe a Zune? Plus, for me the MP3 player chews through the battery such that I can't use it and get a full day out of the thing.

Second, having the web browser is great, but after having played with an iPhone its just not good enough.

Third, with the high price on the BBs, where is the camera? I mean, I have a micro-SD slot to save pictures to a micro-SD card, but no camera to take pictures. I did not realize how much I would miss my camera phone until I had this phone. Sure, I probably only snapped a picture every 2 months or so, but thats 6 pictures a year I am losing of my young child.

Finally, SMS messaging is very annoying with the blackberry. I use this for business and personal use...and......

The Blackberry 8830 is a great phone. It is the best cell phone I have ever had, and much easer and user friendly than the palm windows mobile smart phone. The biggest negative is that there is no camera built into this phone. I am reliant on my phone, a busy person, an Every day computer user, and a woman who enjoys quality. I am a technology lover, a pet owner and expect good, fair service. I am not rich, but am technically savvy. I depend on calendar and contact list, and am a pc-and mac user.I am value conscious and am impressed with this product, and glad to have it. I am willing to pay for quality service. I am not a Windows Mobile userand not afraid of technology. I am budget conscious and am loving this product. I am appreciative of good service and am in need of a long lasting battery.
...

A great PDA overall - quick loading, great functionality. Only drawback is the lack of hard-wired memory (those memory chips are really expensive), and the poor functioning video support in the media player.

The screen is the best I have seen besides the IPhone...but with the verizon rebate it is quite a lot cheaper.
...

The company I work for decided about a year ago to rollout BlackBerry's to a few select individuals in the company-including me; I am after all the email administrator. And as such I got to integrate the BlackBerry service into our email infrastructure, and pick up a BlackBerry device-a BlackBerry 7130-in the process.

Recently, Verizon Wireless our cell phone provider and BlackBerry carrier, started offering the new BlackBerry 8830 World Phone and naturally I had to have one.

The Product

In The Box

Blackberry 8830 handset

Battery

Travel Charger

Belt Holster

CD Installation Discs

Verizon CD Install Disc

Quick Reference Guide

Installation Booklet

The BlackBerry 8830 is a dual-channel(CDMA/GMS), dual band device that offered anytime/anywhere access to corporate e-mail, contacts, calendar information, two Web browsers (Verizon supplied and BlackBerry network), and a full QWERTY keyboard. The ability of the BlackBerry 8830 to seamlessly connect to either CDMA or GSM/GPRS networks is what makes...
...
