Have had no luck since day one (2 years ago)! Phone constantly resets itself, bad phone clarity battery dies quickly. Email works well but the internet is slow, not sure if this is the phone or the service I use. Would not buy this model use a different blackberry

The phone I bought is a Blackberry 8830 World Phone. I bought this phone to replace a Palm Centro. I use the phone through Verizon. To use this phone, I only need one hand and it all works from the trackball and keyboard. You don't need a stylus, like you do with the Palm. Also, i needed to use the phone in Europe and the Palm does not work there. The only thing really missing from the Blackberry World Phone is a camera. But I carry two cell phones, and the other one has a camera, so I didn't need that. The email is easy to set up. You can download applications that work great. There are several that are free that are very useful. i have been using the phone in my car with the bluetooth connected through my GPS. This is another great feature that works on this phone and didn't work on my Palm. If you are looking at doing business on a cell phone, then you should be looking at Blackberrys.

Wished it kept a history log per contact like the curve. Wished it has a camera but like the signal strength. I heard the curve's signal strength isn't as good as the 8830....

The Blackberry 8830 has been a great communication tool for me! The system is intuitive and I can easily store information about contacts. It is reliable and usable virtually anywhere in the world. The phone also has great sound quality! I find e-mailing especially easy and it's increased my productivity. Only downside is no camera (although hasn't been a big issue for me)....

The Blackberry 8830 is phenomenal when it works properly! The features that it offers I think puts it above the other smartphones. However, one could experience some aggravating glitches at times; such as the trackball not registering the downward action when you have a lot of messages or e-mails stored. A good way to remedy this is to keep up with your regular discarding routine for all your different message types....

I have used many smartphone /PDA devices , Palm and windows etc, but Blackberry really is the way to go.

The phone is small, light, and versatile. It works well as a phone and does much more.

I am impressed with the battery life and the stability of the phone. I highly recommend it....

Yes, it's small. Yes, it's cute! But, is it functional? When I am driving down the road wanting to make a business call? No! I couldn't find the button to retrieve clients numbers. I had this phone 28 days and returned it on the 29th day in time for a refund. I am computer savy, I am cell phone savy and can always figure them out in a day. This one stumped me. Anytime I pressed a button on the side to talk on the radio it sent me on the internet*%&^%** come on now! Very time consuming.

I'd rather carry around a PDA and a mini cell phone or my laptop and my cell phone than this little bugger.

I really was scared to purchase such a phone, but I love my Blackberry. The display is clear & bright. The phone itself is easy to figure out & use. I think I would be either... Carrying around both a phone a palm forever or totaally lost w/out my Blackberry!...

I almost love my 8830 because it's almost great. Solid service with Verizon, except for the carrier's refusal to enable the GPS without a subscription. Good phone except for an occasional lockup and an inability to hang up after flashing over to a waiting call. Nice display but no camera.

But overall it's reliable for email and reasonably well built.

This is an excellent phone for the world traveler. It supports multiple forms of cell signals and can therefore work just about any where. I have used this phone in South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, England, Germany and Italy with no problems. The phone has great features and is well designed (although it could be a little smaller).
