This is a product that I initially had some trouble figuring out how to work properly. Even after reading the instruction manual. One problem that I had was the the door to the Toast-R-Oven was not closing properly. It took me several tries to figure out how to properly get the door to close correctly.

However, I have to say, that all the trouble was worth it. I use the Toast-R-Oven on a regular basis. For breakfast, it is not uncommon for me to take a bagel, toast(on one setting) the bagel in the Toast-R-Oven, and to then place cheese on top of the bagel in order to melt the cheese. The cheese melts nice and evenly. However, I would advise anyone that uses the Toast-R-Oven to make certain that you are in the room when it is in use. I mention this because, I have found that, even on the Medium(as opposed to the Dark setting), something that is being toast such as a bagel with cheese, or an English muffin can get too toasted very quickly if you are not watching it.

Regarding...
...

When my original toaster, a Black and Decker one, broke down after I cleaned it (I think I got water in the internals somehow) I went shopping for a replacement. I checked everywhere, Linen N Things, Macy's, Sears, Target, Bed, Bath, and Beyond, Orchard's, Lowe's, etc. I like design and functionality. I wanted a toaster oven that both looked nice on my counter as well as performed excellently. The design I liked best was by Hamilton which I got at Target. It came in different colors, was a top loading toaster oven so was kind of traditional. But what I found was that it took too long to toast, and it was difficult contolling the darkness. At the lowest level the toast came out too brown. I thought maybe I got a lemon and exchanged it for another one and this time had other mechanical problems, so returned that for good. Then I purchased two high-end European types, and found they were too big on the counter and it took too long to toast a slice of bread. In the end I...
...

The Black and Decker Toast-R-Oven is really great. We bought ours with wedding gift money about 2.5 years ago. We thought we would by a model that was more expensive, but both our families had always used Black and Decker toast oven models, so that is what we went for. We've used it almost every day since then and have really enjoyed it.

One of the features I like about the oven is the crumb tray. The older models I grew up with didn't have this, and I love the fact that the easy removal of the tray makes clean-up faster and quicker. I can keep my toaster oven looking good with minimal effort.

Our Toast-R-Oven came with a tray that we use alot, and with a tray removal tool and a tray with holes in it. The last two items I don't think I've ever used. They are just taking up room in my kitchen drawer. It just seems like they're more trouble than they're worth, because it's just easy to pull out the tray with a potholder. I often use a piece of foil on the tray so I have to wash it less often....
...

We were given the Black & Decker Toast-R-Oven for a house warming gift and were very excited because we felt it would be a great toaster oven. We were just going by the name brand itself because it is a brand name most people know and love. We were very much disappointed! It is sooooo slow! I could use my 2 slice toaster and make 6 slices of toast in the time it takes to make 4 in the toaster oven. You have to start the toaster long before you even think of starting the eggs. Another thing that is very annoying is that the slices in the back will get half burnt before the toast in the front even gets a slight tan. The broiler works fine. and so does the oven. It cooks the food in the time it is expected to cook it in. One last thing that also annoys me about this toaster oven. The ticking for the timer is loud. There is no reason that they needed to make the noise loud on the ticking. It only ticks me off! You are best off staying away from the Black & Decker Toast -R-Oven...
...

Zodiac says "For the small family, the Toast-R-Oven is everything you need." about Black & Decker Toast-R-Oven

We got this toaster oven as a gift a few years ago. We really didn't pull it out of the box until just over 6 months ago. In a house with no oven (and maintenance that refuses to replace the damn thing), this toaster oven was a God-send. After years of resorting to microwaving almost everyting, we could finally cook things in a way that wouldn't leave them soggy and smelling funny. The toaster oven came with a single rack that can be moved up, down, or center, and a non-stick tray. The tray eventually wore out, covered in baked on grease and grime that is now impossible to remove, but trays this size are hard to come by so we just cover it in tin foil and use it anyway. Over time, the oven loses its intial power when toasting and you may have to set it to "medium" instead of "light" if you really do want it light. Cleaning the oven is kind of a hassle because it's so small and you have to avoid the heating units, lest you disturb something. Still, overall, a great product. Really efficient....
...

SONNYMAN1221 says "The top of it doesn't get too hot!" about Black & Decker Toast-R-Oven

This is the best toaster oven I have EVER owned! It has all the features you need in a toaster oven, and works great. I have used it to cook mini pizzas that I make on hamburger buns and it is perfect for the job!

Another great thing about the Black and Decker Toast-R-Oven is that while its in use, the top of it doesn't get as hot as Mt St Helens! In the past this has been a problem as sometimes things get left on top of or close to the toaster oven and then you have real problems! But not this toaster oven.

The timer function works great, and it only takes about 5 minutes for mini pizzas, bagels, less for toast and I've even cooked a brownie single in this thing!

I know people say Black and Decker is losing ground, but not with performance like this! I am definitely going to buy another one or two of these Toast-R-Ovens before something is changed or before they are just plain gone for good. Thats how great this thing really is, and I am beyond satisfied with it!
...

This little Toaster-R-Oven fits nicely in my tiny kitchen. It's oven temperatures are accurate enough to warm small things/cook small things without having to crank up the big oven (and waste all the energy!).

I have had two toaster ovens in 20 years. Yes, only two. Black and Decker toaster ovens are very reliable and sturdy. I have had an under the counter one and currently use one that sits on the counter. I will never buy any other brand. The original one still works - I gave it to my daughter when she moved out and got myself another one.

The one I have currently is called the Black & Decker Toast-R-Oven. It has a self cleaning tool that really works like a real oven.. It cleans up very easily and is very user friendly. My daughter uses the 20 year old under the counter one as an on the counter. She is very happy with the used one I gave her.

So, there you have it. Black and Decker means quality in the kitchen as well as in the mens tools department. I hope I have helped you in some way to make your decision. I guarantee you will not be sorry if you buy a Toaster Oven with the name of Black and Decker on it.
...

We had our last Black and Decker toaster oven for about 14 years and so I was very happy to buy another product from them. However after just 6 months or so I have been having a strange smell out of this product. I am concerned that it might be an electrical problem and so I watch the toaster to make sure it doesn't catch on fire. This morning I said I was going to get rid of the toaster but needed it to get through the breakfast time first. Well I didn't get the same smell as I had last week and so I am going to continue to use the toaster and watch for problems. I do like the design of the crumb tray and the ease to clean the toaster. I have had to watch when my husband heats things in the oven and then I go to toast something that the switch is turned back to toast and not just heat. Boy what time I have wasted when the switch is turned to the wrong setting. It is a great investment and I love that we can make small amounts in the toaster oven and not have to heat the big oven. I would...
...
