i bought the Black & Decker "Grasshog" cordless weed trimmer last summer (08). It comes with 2 rechargeable batteries. It worked great all last summer and fall. Then this spring when I used it, both batteries would not hold a charge. I could not even finish my small yard without both going dead. When I went to the hardware store to buy a new one, the bin was empty, so I assumed everyone else has this same problem. For the $100 investment, I'll buy a small gas operated one next. Disapppointed!
...

Due to my carpal tunnel, I've had trouble with other trimmers in the past because of bulk and weight. I really like the Black & Decker NST2018Grasshog 12-Inch 18-Volt Cordless String Trimmer/Edger. It is lightweight and gets the job done. I find it easy to use in any direction that I need to. I am able to trim and edge my front lawn and back yard in no time flat.

There is also not alot of vibration from the machine. This makes it much easier for me to handle. I no longer need to stop several time to rest my arms.

Even though the battery life is a bit short, it came with a second battery to switch out with and they charge up quickly.

While it does work tackle smaller jobs better, the ease of this tool makes it more likely that I keep on top of my yard chores.

I've owned this for 8 years and love it. Not being tied to a cord or having to mess with gas and oil and pull starts is great. Cuts very well even with the tough St. Augustine we have here in Florida, that passes for grass. I opted to purchase the silver 18 volt batteries instead of the normal Firestorm or Black and Decker type. They last much longer. I also have the 18 volt cordless blower and love it too....

We decided to try the cordless weed eater with the rechargable battery instead of the gas powered, since we had such trouble getting it started after storing through the fall/winter months. We were concerned that the battery would not give enough power but it works great!! I also own a weed eater with a cord but i will probably never use it again because the new cordless works so well....

The weight of this product was good considering I have a bad back. I was trying to cut down grass that has grown to about 1 ft tall. This trimmer will not cut this. The grass just went back and forth. This trimmer might be good if you do your lawn every week but not for those who have a tendency to let it get overgrown. Took this trimmer back and got a corded trimmer by Black and Decker. Haven't used yet but will review it when I use it tomorrow. Going to miss the cordless feature alot....

My husband has had the complete battery operated tools from Black & Decker. He is very happy with their easy to take care of approach to people who are great customers. When the 26 charging batteries were melted by an electrical fire in our basement. Lowes saw me on TV about my $10,000 damage claim to the power company for poor employees that caused this. He called & we asked him how much to replace the batteries. He sees on our file at Lowes, that I purchaed every tool for him & newer ones coming out that he doesn't need so he returns. Lowes made a call to B&D about the 26 batteries with 13 chargers and they agreed to replace at no charge. THAT IS SERVICE!

So we walked back into landscaping area & I saw the new outdoor tools being shown in a HUGE display. This 18 volt edger/trimmer, a blower, a hedge trimmer with a 2 foot circular cutter with plastic shield. SOLD! Then the Manager at Lowes named PAtrick,,, tells us that we get BOGO airline tickets from B&D for purchasing...
...
