darlyn63 says "Black & Decker Spacemaker, does save counter space" about Black & Decker SpaceMaker Coffee Maker - ODC440B 12-Cup

We've had a Black & Decker spacemaker for years. It's nice because it free's up space on the counter. Ours was so old that they didn't make parts for it anymore. So my husband would stop at Goodwill to see if they had one part just to keep ours going. Then the clock went out on it. So he bought one of those timer things that goes into the outlet to turn on and off. Which that clicking noise got to me. Late last year I finally found they started to make them again. This time though, you could pour yourself a couple of coffee before it's done brewing. Such a nice feature. Free's up space, so the counter top still has room. And it's matches my stove. I believe right now it only comes in Black. Nice clean look to it. I am so happy. Now I see they even have a new style one that looks even neater then the one I gave him for Christmas. Isn't that how it goes sometimes? But I only glanced at it, may have to check it out. But if this Black & Decker last's as long as our first one, which was close...
...

I had an old model that lasted about 12 yrs. I bought this new model less than a year ago. First thing you need to do is remove the pause feature from the basket it you'll find your morning pot of coffee all over the counter. Then after 6 mos. the hot plate started to rust, a little at first. Now I have dime size chunks of rust falling on the counter. This coffemaker is junk! I will never buy another B&D small appliance again. I have 2 others in my kitchen, when they go bad I'll be looking for another brand....

stacy1013 says "Buyer Beware, this product is not worth the cost" about Black & Decker SpaceMaker Coffee Maker - ODC440B 12-Cup

While the Black & Decker SpaceMaker Coffee Maker - ODC440B 12-Cup is easy to mount under the cabinets, this Coffee Maker has been nothing but problems since the first brewed pot. The unit leaks on the counter from the filter area and the reservoir area. The pot itself pours wide, but when done pour doesn't end well and coffee ends up on the counter. Less than 2 months after getting the Coffee Maker, it stopped taking all 12 cups of water out of the reservoir. Now 3 months later it only takes 2 cups at a time. This product cannot be opened up to clean any further than just running vinegar or other cleaning material through the unit. Only filtered water was ever used on the unit and 3 months is not a good deal. This is my first Black & Decker Coffee Maker, and now it will be my last. Very very disappointing....

Aggie67 says "Lasted 4 weeks - not worth it" about Black & Decker SpaceMaker Coffee Maker - ODC440B 12-Cup

We bought this B&D ODC440 Spacemaker to replace an older under-the-counter B&D that lasted many years. This one is junk. The base leaked water, the pot had to be perfectly held and poured in order to prevent coffee from ending up on your hand or the counter top. On top of that, it lasted only 4 weeks. Four weeks! It made its last pot this morning, and then died. Dead as a door nail. I had it plugged into a GFCI outlet, which hadn't tripped. I installed it per the instructions (installation was pretty straightforward and easy to level out, I have to admit that). And you can't open the thing up to check anything. Sometimes it's just a resistor that burns out, and you got to an electronics store, match it up, and solder in a new one (you have to know what you're doing). But I couldn't even get in there to check for continuity.
...

The Black and Decker SpaceMaker coffee pot is so convenient. I have it sitting on the counter (not mounted) and it's convenient to not have the 'pull' the coffee maker out in order to fill the water reservoir. The brewed coffee is great no matter what brand of coffee i use! ...
