cabinessence says "Not pleased with Hedge Hog Trimmer speed/battery" about Black & Decker Hedge Hog Trimmer

I'm not satisfied with Hedge Hog cordless hedge trimmer because of the slow speed and the fact that the batteries are unsatisfactory. I have used every outlet in my home and garage to charge the batteries hoping that it would make a difference. I have charged the batteries for days at a time and it makes no difference. I usually can cut ONE or TWO boxwood shrubs PER CHARGE.

Please shop around.....I believe I would rather go electric than deal with this inferior product.
...

My husband and I bought this product alittle while back, and we are more then satisfied with it's performance and ease of use. We were looking for something that I could use, cause my husband works long hours and needs help with our 3 and a half ac. of landscape. I'm very happy with the Black & Decker Hog Trimmer and would highly recommend it to anyone....

The Black and Decker Hedge Hog trimmer isn't fancy, but it gets the job done on smaller shrubs. When I want to get things right (and have time), I use a manual pruner and do the job right, but this trimmer works fine on certain shrubs in my yard. It takes a little coordination to deal with the safety mechanism, but that's easy enough to figure out. I thought the price was right for something like this. If I had a bigger job to do, I would certainly want something a little bigger and more powerful.
...

I though going electric and cordless was the best way to save . not only my time but a buck here and there on gas, that was I went and bought a B&D Hedge Hog . remembering how well my 18V Bosch Drill performed for more that 6yrs.

Now let get back to the Hog.

Day 1. After charging both batteries for the recommended 24hrs.My Hog ate up first battery in less than 24 minutes and gobbled the second battery in about the same amount of time. Well I figured I didn't leave them charging long enough so back on the charger they went. So I figured I get the shrubs picked and cleaned up.noticing that the trimmings where more of a break and tear then a nice clean cut.Not a problem I'll give a touch up tomorrow when the batteries are fully charged.

Day 2 After another 26 hrs . I removed my batteries and just to be sure I got out my volt meter and took a reading. They where charged 20.8 DCV. Needless to say my Hog ran slower then the before and ate up the batteries just as quickly. What more can...
...

How great to just push in an 18 volt battery & go! No electrical cord getting wrapped around your legs, the shrubs, and where to plug it in crisis. 2 feet of a very hungry tool when it meets your hedges. Not 14" I see with other manufactures.

I shape my front yard hedges in square inside, round in the center & pointed on the outsides. How fast I was going since this is on my side going up & down and eating away on the shrubs. Nothing in the way of us together making a wonderul garden.

When you let go of the switch, off it goes, so no fingers or arms lost while operating. Then it slides into the shield to be hung in the garage with no damage to it.
...

A great product with a 30-40 minute battery life on one charge. Well balanced and easy to handle. Somewhat on the pricey side but if you watch for sales (I bought this one when the Father's Day sales were going on.) you can save some money....
