Black & Decker light weight drills are a great asset to have around the house. A great choice for people that with an apartment living lifestyles. The system comes with batteries and an adapter. There was even a couple of bits in the packet. The B&D cordless drills are very convenient. They are so light weight that the ladies in my home can use them without a problem. There is no assembling, just open, plug in adapter, charge batteries, place batteries in drill and have at it. It's just that simple. I would recommend the B&D cordless drills to anyone looking for something light weight and easy to use. It has proven to be very reliable. Oh yeah, it also has a safety lock and reverse button. And it bends in the center of the handle so that you can get into tight places. I think this makes for a good father's day gift, or just buy it because someone you know needs. Try it, I think you will like.
...

A sturdy tool that is most appropriate for everyday jobs, especially those that do not require deep drilling or prolonged use of the drill. The drill performs well using both drill bits and screwdriver bits. However, those applications are best for "light jobs," such as pilot holes for wallhangings, or building or repairing light furniture or cabinets. Deep drilling (more than about an inch) or prolonged use creates tired hands because the grip is not designed for comfort on larger jobs. Also, the battery runs down when the tool is not used for a few weeks. ...

I got the cordless drill and light combo, with a small AC charger. Loved them except for 2 things...1 the charger and the dead batter had to both be plugged into the drill, so even if I had another battery, I couldn't use the drill. the other thing...the AC charger quit working, so I thought I'd just get another. Lotsa Luck!, I can't find ANY 18 VDC plug-ins anywhere. Now, all 3 are useless! ...

The Black & Decker cordless drill has been a great drill for me. I use it constantly. I do home remodeling for a living and this drill is great because I don't always have a power supply and it has enough battery power to get the job done. This is the best drill I have ever owned....

My experiences with Black & Decker have been far more positive...lucky me? I had a 12V Firestorm cordless drill outperform 3 Craftsman 18V drills...the only thing I ever needed for it was a second battery pack so that I could make quick-changes when I'd run out of juice.

The Craftsman drills, on the other hand, all developed VERY odd problems in the motor and died within two years each during the SAME PERIOD of TIME I owned the Firestorm. The Craftsman drills were all purchased by my employer, who sworre by Craftsman, but as they were breaking with regularity, I'd bring in my B&D and use it instead...eventually I used it only, even after he bought the third one...I just let the new guys use the Craftsman drills.

It would have been preferable if you had listed the model numbers of the items you had problems with...and maybe talked about the specific problems you had...the biggest problem with cordless drills tends to be under & over charging the batteries...proper cycling and total draining...
...

I still after all these years cant believe Sears still stands behind this product, Ever since I can remember everyone I know that owned any black and decker product felt that it did not last, and was always breaking. Personally the only Black and decker tool that lasted for me was a belt sander, I got about 18 months out of it, and have not owned any black and decker for 15 years, anyone who buys me one for a gift it gets returned for hand tools.....
