sadxxeyedxxangel says "Big Lots saves BIG" about Big Lots

I recently took a trip to Big Lots with little cash, I found all the candle accesories I was looking for, along with a huge 70% off sale on some more, glamorous looking items. On top of this, I found an amazing mouse with a usb hook up thats pink by general electrics for my laptop that works beautifully for $10. I ended up purchasing a COMPLETE cheetah print bed set for full/queen for $35. I know how this works, buy something extremely cheap, get crappy quality, surprisingly enough I went home, threw it on the bed, and It looks EXACTLY like the picture. Its soft and comfy very well made i'm very surprised. Overall, this was one of the best shopping trips i've had on such a small budget. :)
...

Danasgreat says "Great Prices on lots of stuff!" about Big Lots

I'm a bargain QUEEN. I search for weeks for the best deals on any purchase over $25...yes, $25. I'm cheap. I like my money right where it belongs....collecting interest.

I live in a very shop savvy city..Hendersonville, TN. We have 2 malls withing 10 minutes, Sears Outlests, boutique stores, specialty shops, thrift...One of my favorites is BIG LOTS!

I'm always looking ahead for birthdays, mother's day, you name it and I have it to shop for. I have a LARGE extended family and we are all very close so that leaves a lot of gift giving to do. I am also a stay at home mom with lots of time for bargain hunting. I like Big Lots because you NEVER know what you are going to find. I recently bought a Bissell carpet steamer for $99, which was $60 less than even Walmart.

I have also found great deals on food items, such as Natures Goodness Oat n Hiney bars for $5/pack of 60. My husband eats these every day and my toddler loves them as a snack so this was a great but. ...
...

Just a note to those of you who go to Big Lots, do not pass up the aisle with all the stationery supplies. I have consistently found copy paper, and cardstock for making cards or scrapbooking at way cheap prices, and it isn't particularly what people think of when they think of Big Lots. I have found some of the best office supply products and scrapbooking materials there that would be two to three times the price even of the usual discount stores. So next time you are in, do yourself a favor and drop by the stationery area and check it out, I think you will find something "you can't live without".
...

TunefulGal says "In L.A.,Big Lots is about management, ethnic product preference." about Big Lots

Los Angeles has its ethnic enclaves and that can make Big Lots an interesting shopping venue. When B.L. has trucked in chile beans and hot sauces, I'm likely to shop for them at the store near Glendale which is favored by Armenian-American clientele. If hummus, Greek olives or similar "Eastern" items are available, you can find me in the Highland Park store where Spanish is the language of choice and Greek olives stay on the shelves a fair length of time.
I also calculate my buying patterns by management alone. Suddenly one store gets messy and can't muster up enough checkers for lines of dozens of people. So... I try another B. L. where management is (for the moment, at least) on the ball. Fortunately there's always at least one store which has its act together.
Word travels fast around here about great deals and goofy changes. Suddenly one store is low on shopping carts. The mystery of getting in the automatic door of another B.L. is solved only when you learn that......

cmohr80 says "Great Deals, Great Items at Big Lots!" about Big Lots

As a mom, I'm always trying ways to cut corners and have quality items without sacrificing in our budget. Big Lots is a great way to do this. Now, sometimes the isles can be pretty cluttered and it's not always easy to get around, but the prices of their products are well worth braving the overstocked store. Some locations can be dirty, but this all depends on the store staff's caring of the store. Our local store is lucky enough to have a staff that keeps it clean. It can be over cluttered sometimes, but it is clean. Depending on the city that the location is in, you can find gourmet food items. With me having a husband who like to cook, this is real handy. Besides fresh grocer items, I know I can find most of the dried goods needed for a gourmet meal. Also, you can find some all natural items, some organic and quite a bit of international foods. If you're looking to do some minor redecorating to your home, changing curtains, new linens, frames and paintings, try checking out Big......

There are a lot of bargains under one roof. I have found many deals at Big lots.

I believe that you get what you pay for. However stores often take advantage of people who dont have a lot to pay with. Big lots is different. They believe in quality for less i think. I have bought numerous items from them over the years and have never been disappointed. I also bought a couch and love seat from them 7 years ago. The price was reasonable and the quality has been outstanding. I still have the couch set and probably will for many more years. It has held up tremendously well. This poor couch has had to stand up to the punishment of 4 kids all under 10 right now. Excellent buy!!!...

OldHippie says "Some Quality - Some Trash" about Big Lots

When I go to Big lots, it's for one of two items...maybe both. They carry stacks of blank CDs (50 count) usually from HP for $9.99! That beats anybody, hands down. They also carry blank CD cases (either slim line or full) for a couple of bucks. I used to DJ at oldies parties & for crowds that wanted everything from the 50s to todays dance music. I still make a few CDs for friends. The rest of the electronics dept. you can keep. Mostly junk.

Occasionally I find other things there I need, such as a fry pan at a good price. In the Spring & Summer they carry Bar-B-Cue grills. Once again, mostly junk. However, it's a good place to find charcoal & lighter fluid.

Another reviewer stated the stores are "dirty". I've never had that problem. The one closest to me is always clean & organized. As another review said..."Stay away from the food & snack items." I agree. They get the overstocks & nearly out-dated items.

Some years ago, my son & I were planning a trip to...
...

I love Big Lots. I always find something I need (or want). I recommend it for seasonal items and houseware items. Also, they get fresh food and they have really neat kinds from different countries. I love that I can get a box of cookies that are made in Turkey for $1.50. I've never had a problem with the stores being dirty. The people are always friendly. I've been to four different Big Lots in four different towns and they've all be nice....

evansbizz says "Nasty store with dirty items" about Big Lots

Every Big Lots store that I have ever been to has been disgusting. The floors are filthy, the merchandise is either on the floor or covered in dirt and thrown back onto the rack. The employees are only somewhat friendly, and not all that helpful.

I have only been to Big Lots a few times, but everytime I feel dirty just walking in the doors. The carts are grimy and greasy and sometimes full of trash. The store near me has one bathroom for both men and women. In the bathroom, there is only one toilet. There used to be two, but the second was pulled out for some reason, and now there is a hole in the floor where the toilet used to be. The hole was not cleaned when the toilet was removed. I doubt the bathroom itself has ever been cleaned.

I will not shop at Big Lots again.
...

This is a great store to find deals. You can find many things there at a huge discount price.I would recommend , stay away from their food products.Every food product I have bought from Big Lots have been expired. On the other hand, I buy many things from them.Razors, shampoo, conditioner, electronics, furniture, dog items, dishes, bedding, etc.I am sure I have saved a great deal of money in the last year by shopping there.By all means, shop there but do not buy their food products....

Overall Big Lots is a good store, but buyer beware. The cosmetics, especially mascara, should be avoided. They are usually well past their shelf life by the time Big Lots buys them. Electronics and electric tools, never. We bought a jigsaw as a Christmas gift and it worked 1 tome. We took it back, the amnager replaced it and tht one never worked at all. A total loss of 35 dollars. We have purchased many food items that were expired. Read the labels. Some of the imported food items don't have expirtion dates at all. Haven't had much luck with those either. I also purchased a curling iron which shorted out while I was holding it. Buyer Beware. If the price is too good to be true, theres a reason for it!!...
