The list of best romantic comedies is ok but you must be young because so many better. First off Pretty Woman and Knotting Hill need to be number one and number two. Come on the line "I am just a girl standing in front of a boy asking him to love her" has to be one of the best lines ever and Julia knows how to do it the best. Philadelphia story come to mind as well. How about Princess Bride, corny but great love story. Grease has to be up there and still is the best musical everyone can go to in the family and it keeps enduring. Sixteen candles was great in its day. When Harry Met Sally has to be on list. Moonstruck would be a contender I would think. I can think of several Sandra Bullock movies that could be mentioned as well, like 2 Weeks Notice.

Adam's Rib, Breakfast at Tiffany's or Roman Holiday would be good runners up. My personal favorite old movie is My Fair Lady, some may argue with this movie but it is happy and a great ending the way they just come together. ...

My favorite romantic comedies-

1. Just Married- Don't you love how all their secrets come out and they still can't be apart no matter what mistakes were made? Ashton and Brittany found it in their hearts to forgive one another and love one another in a hilarous movie about the honeymoon.

2. Sweet Home Alabama- Being your newly created successful self or being that down home girl you were. Somewhere in the middle Reese figures out who she was and what she had wasn't so bad after all.

3. Along Came Polly- Can two people from different places make it work? Ben and Jen finding a way to meet in the middle gives us all hope.

4. The Holiday- Cameron and Kate were looking for something different and they found it.

5. Made of Honor- You have to love the falling for your best friend story line.

There is nothing any better than a great romantic comedy. I love to laugh and cry and still end with a warm, happy feeling and a smile. My all time top ten list (and not necessarily in any order) are:

2. The Wedding Planner

3. The Wedding Singer

4. Never Been Kissed

5. Sleepless in Seattle

6. You've Got Mail

7. Seems Like Old Times (Chevy Chase and Goldie Hawn)

8. While You Were Sleeping

9. 50 First Dates

10. An Affair to Remember

I was presently surprised with this movie it was better than expected. Waitress with Keri Russell was really good and enjoyable as soon as the DVD came out I purchased it.

I absolutely love romantic comedies! I saw this thread and had to comment. I have to admit, it was a little hard to narrow it down to just ten! Many of mine are the same as others already listed, but there are a few I just couldn't leave off the list.

Let's see...Top Ten Romantic Comedies...Good Grief...How about if I do top Five? It'll be too hard to think of 10 without getting up from my papasan chair!!!

1. WHILE YOU WERE SLEEPING (Sandra Bullock/Bill Pullman) One of the sweetest movies I've ever seen (and I've seen a kajillion)...This would be one of my best recommendations. All Lucy wants is a family and someone to love and to be loved back and no one deserves it more. Her struggle to decide whether to reveal the truth or go with the flow makes for a hilarious storyline but one that brings tears to your eyes....both sad and happy.

2. 50 1ST DATES (Adam Sandler/Drew Barrymore) Another sweet comedy, and Adam isn't a complete boob in this one. His passion for a woman who can't remember him the next day and his sacrifice at being patient and willing to learn to live with that situation is heartwarming.

3. THE WEDDING SINGER (Adam Sandler/Drew Barrymore) Set in the 80s makes it totally awesome to begin with (my gen)...

After writing a series of Romantic Movie double features, I neglected to go back and create a list of Romantic Comedies. So here are the romantic comedies I consider the very best of the best.

You won't find romantic dramas like Casablanca, or epics like Gone with the Wind, and I don't try to slip in a quirky weird film that really isn't a comedy or really isn't a romantic movie either as some have done in their lists. I figured if the film is more satire and comedy than romance-I'll leave it off this particularly list (so no Princess Bride here either).

Anyway, here's a Baker's Dozen (because bakers use chocolate and that spells romance for most, right?) of Romantic Comedies.

1. IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT 1934 Directed by Frank Capra

You might call this the archetype, the movie that solidified the formula for the screwball romantic comedy...that would reach its peak in the 1940s. It's a formula that with a few twists is still used in the majority of Romantic...

They are great weekends movies to watch with the girlfriends and have a little pampering

I can watch these movies over and over. I have asked for most if not all of these movies as gifts and recieved them. I enjoy seeing them . Its comfort movies

The best romantic comedies for me should stand-up to repeated (ad nauseum) viewings, inspire me to cuddle with my husband and make me laugh as well.

In no particular order, here they are:

1. When Harry Met Sally This movie isn't just about romance and humor. It's also about how friendship is the best possible foundation for a marriage. The most well-known scene of Meg Ryan faking an orgasm in a diner still makes me laugh, but the rest of the movie does too, especially when Harry and Sally's two best friends, Marie and Jess, ditch their respective title dates in the midst of their double date and run off in a cab together. A great movie with some poignant moments and a lot of heartfelt romance.

2. 50 First Dates This was a movie that surprised me. A wonderful movie with a sweet romance at it's center surrounded by odd characters and a truly unusual obstacle to the main romance - permanent short-term memory loss! Drew Barrymore is Lucy, a sweet young woman...

Although it is true that I, like many men, tend to favor action-adventure, war, Westerns, police dramas and science fiction films, I also admit that I have a somewhat romantic nature and will, on occasion, watch a few movies that focus on the funny, uplifting, heartwarming, exhilarating, confusing, and even painful aspects of love, dating, and, yes, even sex.

Usually, when it comes to "love stories" I tend to go for more serious fare along the lines of, well, Love Story and Casablanca, which are two classics which reflect two different eras in both the historical sense and the movie-making one. Perhaps it's because I tend to take love very, well, seriously, or maybe it's because many romantic comedies tend to be somewhat shallow, poorly written, or seem to cover the same ground over and over and over again.

Nevertheless, there are those romantic comedies that are so well-done and charming that they transcend the limitations of the genre and are considered to be classics by almost everyone,...
