soopinionated says "BellSouth aka AT&T is crap!" about Bellsouth

Bellsouth is so slow, I have literally fallen asleep waiting for a page to load! In my area, I can only get dial-up at home. It infuriates me that I get weekly email and snail mail from Bellsouth (AT&T) promoting their high speed connections. Quit sending that crap to me if it's not available to me! Adding insult to injury is the ridiculously high price that they charge for such inferior service. I would NEVER recommend this ISP to anyone. I cannot say enough negative things about it. I would get rid of it, but my husband is still of the opinion that "slow internet is better than no internet". I do not share that opinion. Why can't I give this one 0 stars? I hate to give it even1....

Low price, but service is not consistently dependable. Sometimes I can't connect at all. I don't see much difference between the high speed vs. the "slower" DSL lite.
...

campertmb says "I wish their technicians spoke English as their first language" about Bellsouth

Because I work from home and my company pays for my ISP, I am relegated to dealing with Bellsouth...or my.att.com as they are calling themselves this week. From time to time, they make changes and sometimes don't let customers know (IE: changing from bellsouth.net to att.net.) When I have called with problems or issues I am usually transferred to someone in India. These folks, while polite, are often hard to understand and have a hard time understanding me (Maybe it's the Southern accent...I don't know...) We usually work through the problem, but sometimes I feel like I am being told how to make a clock when I am just asking for the time. Things that should be easy to solve in a short amount of time take way longer than I would expect, especially when I have to go through numerous voice prompts and get put on hold frequently after actually reaching a real person....

buymore says "Great service, speed, ease of use!" about Bellsouth

Bellsouth (At&T) is great. They have great customer service. Their speeds are FAST. They do go down sometimes, but it is usually something they cannot control. Things happen and when they are down, it doesn't take them long to get back up and running. Their price is fair and I have no complaints. I do wish they would let you have the internet without charging you a "whole" phone line charge though. Especially if you have AT&T (Cingular) service through them....

bkinblk says "BS Lover" about Bellsouth

I have FastAcess Xtreme package through Bellsouth, now AT&T, and I am completely happy with the service. I signed up in 2001 and have only had two issues, in which the customer service was outstanding. They said that someone would arrive at my home within 48 bus. hours - the first time it was that afternoon, the second time it was the very next morning.

The only downside is... Anytime I call customer service, you have to go through so many steps and procedures ie. customer service reps, troubleshooting, etc. I am very tech savvy and can usually tell them what the problem is, but you have to follow the protocol.

Plus, you can "bundle" other services with your internet and phone service, which I think is great!!
...

When I wanted to upgrade from dial-up to DSL, I went with these guys about 3 years ago. I've never looked back.

Comparing them to the cable companies, they have very few problems. When they do have the rare problem, it is quickly solved. If you call, you get through. They tell you what is going on.

The price, the service, the quality of their staff can't be beat.
...

streetrace442 says "Bellsouth can do better. It's a matter of choice!" about Bellsouth

Why do I say that Bellsouth (now AT&T) can do better when it comes to their speed and pricing of ADSL? For one, there are companies out there that offer 15Mb download and 1Mb up load on ADSL (and it's not just for business). Two, consider that most cable compaines already offer that type of speed for about $5 more than what AT&T is charging us for 6Mb ADSL. AT&T is just charging more for less where they know they don't have the comp at. Need I say more? ...

Bellsouth.net is a good value for the money and the customer sevice is great. I just wish they would make broadband available to more areas. It is really frustrating to have to use dialup because there is no other option available....

Bellsouth has a variety of choices and a at AT&T you can online or off change any or all. I have DSL 6.0 speed with the better pricing than most, I believe last I checked it is the top speed they offer. I stayed with dial up for years because of the costs. The people are very helpful with both companies. Most do their jobs well and thorough. Some have much more experience, patience, and knowlege than others.
...
