As the daughter of a paycheck-to-paycheck type of family, I always thought of Baylor as unattainable. It was my distant dream; something I loved the idea of but knew I could never be a part of. Fortunately for me, Baylor is the type of school that will pave your way to them with financial aid if they know that you want to be a student bad enough. Even though my class ranking in HS wasn't that great, and I wasn't a member of any sort of honor society, I was able to get a ton of money for tutition. If Baylor wants you and they know you want to be there, they'll find a way to make it happen.

Aside from price, I was nervous about attending a religious university, especially a Baptist one! As a native Texan, I've got plenty of experience around the Baptist community (as an outsider, mind you), and I was skeptical about becoming a student at a school that proudly boasts its status as the largest Baptist University in the world. But honestly, the whole Baptist thing ended up not being a big...

Baylor University offers many things. Classes are large enough for each student to benefit from many perspectives but small enough for each student to get individual attention from the professor. Professors are caring people who are interested in helping out the student. They often give out their home phone numbers so that students can contact them for help if needed. The degree programs are nationally recognized. Class assignment are rigorous but not impossible. The cost is unfortunately high, but financial aid counselors are available to help the students find scholarships, grants and loans to pay for their education. I would definately recommend Baylor to students who are in search of a Christian environment for their higher education.

Baylor University is a wonderful school. It is just small enough to know a lot of people, but big enough to have big sports and amazing facilities. The faculty really care about the students....

I can sum it up fairly simply:

The regents at Baylor have far too much influence, or maybe it is that their influence is generally a thinly veiled attempt to turn Baylor into a church. For a school that is trying to move itself into the upper tier this seems counterproductive. Much of Baylor's moral stances are now very much out of line with mainstream thought. Although I must say the current president is far better than the last and the atmosphere does appear to be changing.

That said, I feel that I received a very good education at Baylor for the most part devoid of religious influence in the classroom--the way a university should be. Of course, I was a psychology major and I suspect that this may not have been the case for other majors--such as the humanities. I thought that the psych department was excellent and prepared me well for my postgraduate education (I am currently a PhD student at Notre Dame).

Baylor was a great place to go to school! I loved the size! It was small enough to see the same face twice but large enough to meet new people everyday! I never had school pride until I went to Baylor! I received a great education and learn valuable life lessons!

This is a very great school to attend. The professors care about their students and give of their time and knowkedge to make sure your college experience is a profitable one. Really great place, it's big inside and has GREAT teachers. The down side is that you must pay alot of money each semester but, other than that 90% grad. and become what they want to be. you should check out the web page it is really good site http://www.baylor.edu/ you must have a good gpa at least 3.6 or higher. there are alot of majors here are some.

Baylor is a good place to get a quality education. Though I have been disappointed with a few things- Christianity is a big deal here and you will be asked where you go to church by total strangers- I am very happy I decided to go to Baylor. Though it may seem like everyone is fratty, rich, and Christian, Baylor actually does have a pretty diverse population, especially because they are giving out amazing scholarships. The school is big enough that it isn't awkward if you break up with someone but small enough that it is easy to make friends. I lived in the honors dorm and highly suggest doing so to others. It has a more diverse and interesting population plus better rooms and bathrooms. Also, I have had some really amazing professors and they aren't all conservative, in fact very few of mine have been (I am in the English department, BIC, and honors). The gym at Baylor is really nice and free to students, and there are tons of things to do after class. Waco is much cooler...

I graduated from the Recreation Division of the School of Education in 1998. At the time of that graduation, I would have recommended Baylor to anybody. However, some recent changes in the school mission and administration makes me less than happy. With that said, I believe that it is still a quality institution, just not as good as it was.
