Baribe and the 12 Dancing Princesses is a great movie for little girls. The early movies had very rough animation, but these newer movies are sharp and well designed. This movie has a good message about being strong and standing up for what is right. It also have an aspect of magic, which any little girls loves. There are 12 very difference princesses who each have their own strengths to help solve in the problem. The very beginning creates the set-up of a fable and Barbie is speaking to a younger sister about being able to help even with her size. Talking parrots, romance, dancing, and mean aunt figure, and magic. What more could a little girl ask for?

My daughters aged 5 and 3 love this Barbie movie. While some children's movies I don't want to watch repeatedly, this is one that I can handle watching repeatedly. A great talking point of strength and how everyone can help with their special talent. Not quite edutainment, but still offers a learning experience if used...
...

This was the first Barbie movie I watched, prior to this, my daughter only watched her Barbie movies at my mother's. I have to say I was impressed. Not at all what I thought a Barbie movie would be, there is a really good storyline and very decent graphics to boot. This movie totally changed my perspective on Barbie movies and now I am more open to them.
...

My daughters have recently become very interested in Barbie movies and dolls. I hesitate to get them because right now we are hit or miss with the two we have tried (Barbie Mariposa was right out of the park and Barbie and The Diamond Castle was never finished.) The latest attempt at a Barbie DVD was Barbie and the 12 Dancing Princesses.

In Barbie and the 12 Dancing Princesses Barbie is now Princess Genevieve with 11 sisters and one very mean (think wicked step mother) cousin. The 12 princesses love to dance and have many different dancing songs they do for different occasions, like their birthday and the princesses have inherited their love of dance from their mother (now deceased and no surprise after 12 children). The girls remember a dance that their mother taught them, that allows them to enter a wishing world, where all their wishes come true and they use this magical place to avoid the evil cousin who pretends to be there for their own good, but in reality is trying to...
...
