Bellman111 says "Steadily becoming the worst credit card company ever" about Bank of America - Platinum Visa

So I have had a banking relationship with Bank Of America for more than 15 yrs. When I decided I was going to consolidate my accounts together and close my non BofA credit cards and move them to BofA I figured it would be an easy move. WRONG. They had me go through a credit analyst to move a $9000 balance to one of my empty BofA credit cards. I make NET $300k a year yet they said that I was a risk? My credit score is above 750. So when I called them up and talked to the analyst they were very rude and condescending. When I started to question their criteria I was told that perhaps they needed to reduce all of my credit lines. Remind you I have never been late, I have paid no less than 5X the minimum balance. Yet I was treated very poorly. I am searching for other banking relationships as we speak....

I received a Bank of America Platinum Visa about 6 years ago. It came with a very impressive interest rate of 0% for 12 months on balance transfers and a 8.9% fixed rate for purchases and after the promotion expired. I transfered a balance and used the card for all my purchases since it was such a low rate. I tried to pay more than the minimum payment each month. Once the promotion expired they increased the interest rate to 21.9%. I had never been late with a payment on this card nor any other card and had never gone over the limit. It seems credit cards lure you in with these great low rates and they tell you the rate will not increase unless you default on the terms however, it seems because I kept a balance on the card they saw it fit to increase the rate. This is one of the main reasons people go into debt. This not only increased the percentage rate but also the minimum payment amount. It just about doubled with the rate increase. So what I was paying over the minimum payment was...
...

Now a days is so easy to be in a lot of debt due to our economic situation. When the banks know that you are hurting for money, they really want to fish you in by giving you a credit card with a few months zero interest free. However you should be cautions of this practice because after your grace period is over, they really increase the interest rate sky rocket. Bank of America is one of this banks that don't really care about the customers. They don't care if they ruin your credit history/score. I have been a customer with Bank of America for about twenty years. I never have been late with payments or went over my credit limit. I moved from one state to another and I had to use my bank of america credit card. After so many years of hard work to build a very goo credit line, they took it away from me in matter of seconds. I had a very good credit line of $42,000.00 with a balance of $11,000.00. I was paying my credit card on time or early if possible. However, I was making almost the...
...

I am deeply disapointed in the Bank of America credit Card. After numerous phone calls and letters that offered "too good to be true" loans and lines of credit, I decided to open a line of credit just in case I am in need of funds. I called, spoke to a representative that confirmed what I already had in writing, namely that the Interest rate on the line of credit will be %8.9. I completed the application. A few days later I received the paper work from Bank Of America and in very fine print listed the Interest rate of $18.9. I called to inquire about the discrepency and was informed that the day after I completed the application the rate went up. I could have been in debt today if I didn't purchase a magnifing glass and decided to read every word on the 20 or so pages received from the bank. I will never do business with Bank Of America again.
...

I first received this card to 'TRANSFER A BALANCE FROM A HIGHER INTEREST CARD'. However, a couple of months before the introductory rate expired, I received a letter from Bank of America that my interest rate will go from not zero to 9.99%, but from zero to 19.99%. This was a huge hit on a more than five figure balance. In fact, it was almost an extra $150 per month in interest alone.

This card was taken out to save money on a 10.99% card. As it turned out, it cost me quite a bit more. As for as I am concerned, once I get my credit cards paid off, I will never do business with this Bank again.

Let me also add that I never missed a payment nor was I ever late on the card.
...

Some of you may know that I spent over a quarter century working for some very, very, large banks. But my experience had little to do with consumer banking. I was much more at home in the area of International Financial Witchcraft. I admit it. I was very, very, good at it. And, if I was still there today, you might in fact have gotten the opportunity to see me in a "perp walk" on CNN or MSNBC. Hey! But you all know I'm a changed man. Hell! These days I'm even Green, albeit Conveniently Green. But that's a subject for a different review. We're here today to take a look at Bank of America Platinum Visa.

A Little Background

Going back a few decades, you'll recall that commercial banks were for businesses while savings banks and credit unions were for individuals. The reasoning for this really is quite simple. Due to usuary laws and other impediments, the profits to be derived from consumer banking sucked from the point of view of a commercial bank. We were much...
...

I had been using Bank of America Services for Checking, Investments, Deposit Box, financed a new vehicle, Credit Cards and two (2) Mortgages for about 30 years. I never exceeded my lines of credit, over spent on my cards, nor missed a mortgage paymentl My credit score (middle one) is 750 which is, per the Credit Bureau's, excellent. I received last week a letter from the said Bank that my interest rate was changing. I was being charged 5.2% FIXED on my Platinum Visa Card. Now they were advising my rate was going to an ARM, which meant 5.25% PLUS 6.50% for a total of 11.75%! I inquired why my account, since the credit line is $22,000.00USD; and I was sure there were a lot of customers that DID NOT PAY THERE BILLS, PAID LATE, OR FILED BANKRUPTCY. Specifically how many of these letters had been sent to their "!valued customers"?
How many hundreds or millions? What is the discrimination here? The answer: "Do you wish to cancel your card madame?" NO! was my...
...
