sjn732 says "Great depiction of the brutalities of war" about Band of Brothers

I am not a person who is big on violence, but I must say that I really liked this show. As it spans many hours, you get to really know the soldiers. You really feel something when you see them hurt: emotionally or physically. Sometimes it is truly difficult to understand the brutalities of being out there fighting for your life, but you get an idea by watching this. Through this series, you are able to hear the actual people who you watch in the episodes recount their experiences, you are up there on the front lines with Easy Company seeing the destruction of war, you also see a soldier's life and a work camp. By watching this, you understand much more than you possibly could by reading a history book-it becomes a more personal experience. Even if you do not care for history, I would recommend watching this.
...

Band of Brothers is so realistic with its battle scenes that it made my father and his friends who are WW2 vetrans tear up with its realism . It has also taught my children more about this war than the schools have, the bonding of men who fought to save not only this country but also the world....

Fardreamer says "Band of Brothers is a true TV masterpiece about WWII from HBO" about Band of Brothers

On September 9, 2001 - the Sunday night before the dreadful events of September 11 - subscribers to Home Box Office got their first glimpse of Band of Brothers, a monumental 10-part miniseries about the true story of an airborne infantry company during World War II's Northwest Europe campaign (June 1944 - May 1945).

Based on the best-seller by the late Stephen E. Ambrose, Band of Brothers was produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks (who had worked together in 1998's Saving Private Ryan) as a tribute to the real-life members of Easy Company, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, a unit which fought for 11 months from Normandy all the way to the capture of Hitler's "Eagles' Nest" - his personal retreat in the Bavarian Alps near the German-Austrian border.

The miniseries, which featured 500 speaking roles, the use of 2,000 extras, four painstakingly recreated World War II tanks, a "European village" set which could be re-dressed to recreate towns in France,...
...

rma288 says "This show took quality to a whole new level" about Band of Brothers

I recently watched this series again for the first time since it originally aired on HBO. I remember loving it then, but I think I fell in love with it even more after I watched it again. Perhaps this is because I'm older now and can better understand the subtle nuances in the story line and how much effort was put into the production of "Band of Brothers."

I think this might have been one of the most historically accurate war movies, let alone WWII movie, ever made. Apparently, Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks and the other producers let each of the surviving men of Easy Company look at the script to check for any factual errors. I think Band of Brothers made the best casting decisions I've ever seen in a movie/television show/mini-series. Each actor looked eerily like the man he was portraying, to the point I could match the character with the elderly men in the opening of each episode. It was also interesting to see the cameos in "BoB." Other than the obvious Ron Livingston, Damian Lewis...
...

Lykoi says "This is the Best TV Series I Have Ever Watched" about Band of Brothers

My husband borrowed this series from a co-worker. I was so involved with this series that I would stop everything that I was doing to watch because it would pull me in and wouldn't let me go.

First off, the acting and directing is supurb! They are sneaky and get you involved with the characters before you know you are a goner.

The events were as close as can be when depicting the war and real time events during WWII.

The WWII veterans that give their commentary throughout the episodes would just fill and yet break my heart.

The Disc set is laid out nicely through the series.

Now, I'm going to give you how I felt about the series.
I was speechless. As I stated before, you get sucked into the characters so fast and yet they (at times) are taken away from you so fast it makes your head spin. You are left with this developed character who was just blown to bits in a fox hole from an explosion...right before your eyes. Mouth open and nothing coming out as I stared at the TV. But...
...
