I bought this Egg & Muffin Toaster about three years ago. When I told a friend I owned it, he said, "Haha...I saw that thing at CVS! You actually bought it?!" And from that day forward, he referred to it as my Rube Goldberg thing. (For those who aren't familiar, Rube Goldberg was the engineer-turned-cartoonist who drew the wacky inventions.)

Well, let him laugh, say I! For those of us who love breakfast sandwiches (isn't that pretty much everybody?) this little gizmo is perfect. And the sandwiches go together quicker, start to finish, than waiting to pay at a drive-thru.

The basic sandwich consists of bread or English muffin, a perfectly round poached egg and some kind of breakfast meat, warmed in the little rack between the cover and the egg. (I'll fry a few days' worth of bacon and keep it in the refrigerator, then pull out a couple of slices to heat up when I make my sandwich.) If you want cheese, just put a slice or two on the bread as soon as it comes out of the toaster,...

The "toaster poacher" as it is called at my house has been one of the greatest appliances. it makes the perfect egg and sausage sandwiches. It only takes about five min. too! the parts are diswahser safe which is a plus. Boiling eggs in it is a little tricky though as they all cracked and sort of exploded. I would suggest sticking to poaching eggs!

I love McDonalds egg McMuffins, so when I saw this I had to try it. The toaster works great, just like most toasters that are on the market. It is a little wider so you can also use it for bigger things like frozen waffles. Then there is the egg cooker and meat warmer. Both work fairly good on there own. The egg still doesn't taste like McDonalds but it is not bad. It has several different settings on how you want the egg cooked. It also will do hard boiled eggs which I have never tried for it only does one at a time. The meat warmer is directly about the egg cooker which presents a problem. I used lunch meat which already is juicy. When the heat from the egg cooker hits it, it makes it drip juice all over the egg which I don't like. It make the egg all watery. If you don't use lunch meat however it works great. this is a very good toaster just by it self but has the added bonus of the egg cooker too.

I was given one of these for Christmas in 2006, Although we only used it rarely it broke after 6 months. The toaster part just quit working which makes the whole thing broken. Then I was given a brand new one for Christmas 2008, and here we are July 2009 and the toaster part is broke on this one as well. Overall is if It lasts it's great. If it breaks they are $50.00 to replace. My opinion is to get a toaster and poach the egg yourself!

Did you like poached eggs or hard-boiled eggs? You can make toast and eggs at the same time using the Back to Basics Toaster and Egg Poacher. This appliance even times it so that the toast and eggs are ready at the same time. You can poach one egg or make up to 4 hard-boiled eggs. And there is a tray so that you can hit up some meat to go with your poached egg too if you like to eat it that way. You can also use it just for toast or just for eggs. Just push the button for the option that you want.

The back to basics Toaster - egg and Muffin 2 s lice tem 500 is the only item on the market that satisfies the basic breakfast person in your household. We actually received it as a 'joke' gift for Christmas and it has become the most used item in our house.
We even take it on vacation with us!...

The Back to Basics toaster is pretty cool. We used it the mornings before we go on roadtrips and it was a quick breakfast that we could make and eat in the car. Occassionally I forgot all the engredients I needed to put in it but overall its pretty handy....

This would be the perfect gift for a single guy or gal. Those who don't want to purchase extra kitchen gadgets but are in need of a toaster. Why not have one that does more than just toast! A healthy way to make a poached egg and very handy too. I agree with others that if using for a family it would not be ideal. Would be easier to get out a pan or the egg poacher....

back to basics toaster is a great item to have. i love the way it poaches eggs, cooks sausage and makes toast all in 1 area. food tASTE GOOD WHEN DONE....

For a QUICK, EASY, Egg & Toast Breakfast try this toaster i stumbled on..:) Just add 6 tbls of water in the tray, 4 !!! Eggs, Plug in and, Wa'Laaa! About 10 mins Later (While your getting ready..:)..... You have 4 nice Hard Boiled Eggs. The time and water amounts vary as to just what you want. Of Course Lees water and time for Less Cooked .. VERY Simple. Im Glad i bought it!...

The Back to Basics egg and toaster machine Isn't bad if you're making a meal for one person. However as a family of 4 It is easier and faster to pull out the egg poacher and the four slot toaster to get everybody feed at one time since your all eating at the same time as a family. Now when the kids get home from school and want a snack it is wonderful.My 5 year old thinks it's the best thing in the world to make his own egg mcmuffin as he always calls it even though it isn't made at the restuarant.I recieved it as a gift,and we do use it but it takes up space where ever you put it. And unless you have a $500,000.00 home with the space on the counter or cabinet I'd rather get rid of it....

The Back to Basics Egg & Muffin 2-Slice Toaster is one of the greatest inventions for any household. It can fry an egg while warming up pre-made sausage and toasting a muffin for an Egg sandwich. Ours is great for those who have to work the early morning shift and need a quick breakfast before running out the door. Hubby, who works 2nd shift, loves it when he comes home and wants something quick and warm to eat. I love it because it doesn't mess up the kitchen and leave me with a sinkful of pans to scrub. Every house would benefit and fall in love with this small, convenient, handy appliance.
