Shufflebored says "Nevermind "rip off," that would imply actual hair removal." about As Seen on TV Smooth Away

Don't bother! If you're one of those people who watches infomercials and thinks "this is too good to be true," that's probably the best time to change the channel before you have a chance to be converted and consequently SWINDLED. I decided to check this out before I saw it for pretty cheap at a discount store. I brought it home and started lightly buffing circles on my ankle. It did seem to be making the skin smoother (sanding it away) but it wasn't doing much to remove the hair anytime fast. Eventually, I managed to clear a patch, but I wasn't about to spend an hour doing the rest and my other leg, it would have taken eons! The next day, like many other women have reported, I had an ugly, bumpy, painful rash in the area that I buffed away. So, in summation, if you would rather spend three times as long as it takes to shave in order to have a spottily smooth patch of leg for one night before it turns into a scratch farm, by all means, purchase this product.
...

readmyview82 says "Smooth Away does not work, please save your money and skin!" about As Seen on TV Smooth Away

I bought Smooth Away and feel like it was a waste of money. It left my skin soft but it also left my hair where it was. I kept trying to remove the hair and instead removed my skin. It should be called peel your skin away! I do not recommend it for people that have sensitive skin, Smooth Away feels like sandpaper.

Just because a product was discovered or made in Europe, it does not mean the product is good. And what about that part of the ad where she smooths away her arm pit, that does not work either.

They claim it works for men too. Yet,if it did not work for me and I am a woman, how can it work for men. In general, men have thicker hair then women.

You are better off waxing those legs. Waxing leaves the skin smooth. I would rather go through the pain of waxing than the pain of scratching my skin with Smooth Away!

So ladies, save your money and your skin.
...

gen13gin says "Follow the directions, and Smooth Away absolutely works!! =D" about As Seen on TV Smooth Away

Read the directions, follow the directions, and Smooth Away does exactly what it's supposed to do, which is remove hair while exfoliating.

(And for the people who say that it doesn't work and that it's "not painless," did you read the directions? It says to rub in a circular motion and warns not to rub too hard.)

I love it! I don't need my razor anymore 'cause Smooth Away is so much faster.

The only thing is that I wish there was a third size for the pad. For me, the small pad wasn't quite small enough, but that's OK. I'm content.

I got mine at Rite-Aid using a Rite-Aid coupon that I printed from my computer, which made it about 10% off. So the price is great.

I just needed it to work, and it did. So I'm happy. I give 4 stars out of 5. It's great as it is, but there's still room for improvement
...

I saw the "As Seen On TV Smooth Away" on infomercials and wondered if it would really work. Just rubbing hair away? Come on! I could not bring myself to order this over the television. One day I was at Walgreens waiting on a prescription and saw this product on sale. I chose to buy it!

Some assembly required. You have to put the buffing pad on the plastic handle. The buffing pad has a peel off back and then you place it on the handle. Stays really firmly with no sliding off. Be careful to get it on there correct or your buffing your skin with plastic. There is also a smaller one for facial hair and delicate areas. Looks like a little flip flop.

It comes with a convenient carrying case. I guess if you need to buff your hair off on the go or take on trips.

I used this on my legs and yes it did eventually remove the hair, but it does take a great deal longer than shaving. I had to do alot of buffing. Also, my skin looked like it was extremelly dry. Rub too hard and the skin will become irritated....
...

I'm considered by my family to be a great bargain hunter. I love a good deal! In the beginning, Smooth Away seemed like an unbelieveable deal. I would be able to complete hair removal in no time, but I was shocked by its performance.

Once put into place, the hair removal pads kept slipping off. My skin was easily irritated by the constant circular rubbing to remove the hair. I tried everything that was suggested with this product and still my results were disappointing. I've gotten better results from using a razor or waxing. I wanted to cut down on time and money with this product, but it didn't happen.

Save your money ladies, Smooth Away should be thrown away.
...

I purchased Smooth Away from Publisher Clearing House when I could have purchased it cheaper from Wal-mart. I tried out this product the first day I received it. It is not easy to use and does not work. The motion of it causes a burning sensation on the skin and did not remove all the hair from my legs or my face. After using it all I got was a burn as if I had used a chemical product. Smooth Away is a waist of time and money. I wish I could return this product and get my money back. It says it is easy to use but I had to repeat it several times and my hands got tired and no hair was removed. I had my daughter try it thinking I was doing something wrong but it did not work for her either. She had a red razor burn like left on her legs and I had the razor type burn on my lip for several days after using it. I waited 2 weeks and thought of trying it again only to find it was the same as the first time I had used it. All it did was burn my skin for a second time and left my skin more...
...

PumpingOvaltine says "Smooth WHAT away, exactly?" about As Seen on TV Smooth Away

It's sort of a running gag that, at Christmas and my birthday, my mom will invariably give me an "As Seen on TV" gift. We all know that "As Seen on TV" anything can be hit or miss, but let's face it, we're all curious at least once...

Well, mom lived up to her usual and had the Smooth Away in with this year's birthday gifts. I was excited to get one, actually, as I'd been toying with buying one at Target. I mean, it was on sale for about $5 and would have easily been one of those "what the heck" purchases.

Glad I kept my five spot in my wallet, because as many reviewers have said, this crazy thing is a great way to give yourself a rash or a remarkable facsimile of one. Let's all note that the smoothing disks are made by 3M--the same company that makes items like tape, glue, and, oh yeah--sandpaper!

If I ever wanted to know what a 2x4 feels like when it's sanded, this product got me as close to being a living representation of lumber as I will ever be. I tried the large disks...
...

Jackie0916 says "Smooth Away is the cure for nicks and cuts" about As Seen on TV Smooth Away

Smooth Away is a great cure for nicks and cuts. You simply rub the pad in circles and your hair disappears! The only two downfalls are that you have to use it at least every other day or it doesn't work as well and it takes longer to do than shaving. I am a mother of two, so I don't always have the time to use Smooth Away and I end up shaving anyway. But when I do have the time, it feels like I'm exfoliating my legs, which feels amazing! It is also great for removing hair on the upper lip and painless! It is inexpensive, and even if you switch between this and shaving, you will definitely save money on razor blades because you won't need to buy them nearly as often. I would recommend this product to anyone, even men! Men can use it on there chests, backs, wherever they don't want hair. It makes a wonderful gift as well. I put Smooth Away in a "Spa" basket for my sister and she loved it!
...

I bought this item and well I brought it home thinking yay I found a new way to get rid hair without razor rash or nics and cuts. Well was I ever wrong it took like for ever to even getr it to remove the hair it was just like taking sand paper and rubbing my legs with it and when I did finally get it to remove the hair I though ok not so bad I put some lotion cause it made my legs look real dry. When I got it done and lotion on was all good well by the next morning oh my my legs were red and they burned. I do not recommend this product as they say for sensative skin because that is just bogus. You are better off to use a razor or a cream to remove your unwanted hair. Oh and the hair grew back just as fast as if I had used a razor. So for the price you pay which on my account was $9.99 you can buy a really good razor that will more then do the job a good fusion is best I have found.

I do not recomend this product.
...

I would describe Smooth away, as a good product for anyone to use. Even on the face. After i used smooth away for the first time. It removed the hair on my legs. But also all of my dry skin. Smooth away left my skin feeling soft, and smooth. Afterwards, I took a shower and felt refreshed, because my legs were so soft. I would recommend this product to anyone thats in a hurry, but also wants smooth skin. The name explains the product as it is. It definatly smooths your skin. And removes all of your hair. Even the thick hair on your legs. Smooth away is the way to go now. No razors, or shaving cream.
...

I tried this product, Smooth Away, yesterday, and it only made my skin red. It did not remove the hair like it was advertised to do. I saw no hair on the black hair removal pad, and the product did not remove my hair. I doubled-checked the instructions, and I followed them carefully. This was the first time that I tried the product, and I plan to give it another try in a few days. I don't believe that I did anything wrong. I have talked with people that have found it to work well for them. I have very fine hair, and it may not work for me. Smooth Away advertizing makes it look like it is easy to remove the hair. I had no luck. It was hard for me to manuever the hand applicator, and it was difficult to reach all of the areas with them. Smooth Away is an excellent idea, and I hope they continue to work with their product to make it better. It is a great idea!!!
...

If you think Smooth Away sounds too good to be true, you would be right! Upon seeing the commercials for the product on tv, my immediate thoughts were, that would be really great if it actually worked. It claims to smooth away unwanted hair in a matter of seconds. In a local pharmacy I saw that Smooth Away was on sale, so I decided to give it a try since I have an aversion to the pain associated with other types of hair removal. The so-called "hair removal" surfaces feel slightly less abrasive than a typical nail file. At this fact, I felt even more skeptical, but I continued with the process. As suggested, I showered first and dried off so that my skin was slightly damp. Arms, legs, short hair, longer hair, thinner hair, thicker hair, damp skin, dry skin, 10 seconds, 10 minutes, not only did I not notice even a slight removal of hair, but the product didn't even smooth my skin as I had expected it to do in the least! A ridiculous waste of money. How companies can blatently scam people...
...
