I love my pink mini. It's a great little peice of equipment. It has storage for more music than I actually want to listen to. It has only frozen up on me once and I just re-booted it. The scroll works great and I have never dropped it even though it's very slippery.

I bought a cover for it so that I would be even less prone to damaging it. Unfortuatly, the iPod slips out of the case if it gets turned upside down.

It doesn't hold a charge no matter how much I charge it. If I flip through the songs "too much" then it dies even faster. But if I just let it play then it will last maybe 4 hours. Still, very dissapointed. So, I purchased a portable iHome which charges the iPod when plugged in. Stick some batteries in that, and you're good to go.

All in all, I am satisfied with my iPod. However, if I could afford a new one then I would buy it in a heartbeat. The 4GB thing really makes my day. I wouldn't buy one with any less than 4GB.
...

One of the first bad design choices is the way genres are implemented. The genre list is placed after the artist and album list, before the playlists one. This placement is simply counterintuitive since the logical selection is that of genre > artist > album. To make things even worse, selecting genres does not filter artists as one might expect, it simply dumps all the songs that belong to that genre in one big list. In fact, the genres come last and are filtered by both the artists list and the album list.

Another issue is that of compilations. While Floola can interpret tags properly and can recognize the compilation tag properly, it makes no effort whatsoever to actually order these songs as such. The result is one whooping long list of artists most of them with only one track....

I stupidly bought this when it first came out thinking that any kinks with the ipod would be addressed when mac designed the ipod mini. I guess not. The battery quickly wore out within a few months and after EXACTLY 1 year I was unable to use it without it being plugged in (this was just in time for me to miss the 1 year warranty). I got the nano about a year later - it's just as good musically and the battery is 100 times better.
...

I recieved my Ipod mini 3 years ago. It worked very well for 2 and a half years, during which I had no complaints about operating the device. The ipod mini is very simple to upload and use.

A few months ago I must have overcharged my mini because now with a full charge it will last a maximum of 2 hours as opposed to the 18+ hours it used to get. I contacted Apple and they provided no help via the internet. I visited one of the Apple retail stores and the clerk told me that I could not purchase a new battery for my ipod. I am fustrated that my ipod will not last as long as it used to, but still I will not give it up.
...

I got the mini about 8 months before Apple stopped producing it. With its sleek and slippery design I've dropped it more times than I can remember. However, thanks to the metallic casing, it took a lickin' and kept on tickin'

The battery is slowing down though. I can charge it overnight and expect a playback of about 2 hours at most.

...

Ipods were great when they first came out. They were worldwide known for their easy to use interface, style and capacity. Some however, didnt like the size of it. Thats where the mini came into play. It was the same old ipod that everyone love, but in a smaller and more manageable package....

I had no problems or disappointments with my ipod mini 4GB in Silver. I enjoyed being able to visually scan through songs and see what was playing. I like the backlight for when it was dark. It has great sound. Mine was stolen from my car-I was so dumb to leave it on the passenger seat overnight and of course its bright shiny silver and cool-looking face caught someone's eye with a big rock handy....

I have had this iPod for about 3.5 years, and I have to say that even though it's become a little temperamental, it's still alive and kicking. The battery is probably the biggest problem I have with it. The only time it isn't charging is when I'm listening to is/out with it because if I don't leave it charging all the time, it'll die very quickly. I've dropped this sucker a million times and it's still in one piece.
...

The ipod mini was the best ipod that Apple made because it's sturdy, stores a good amount of songs, and has a long battery life. I love how they took it off the market because they made a skinner version that breaks esily and has terrible battery life. I can go days without recharging and the device is easy to use....

I like to have a lot of music on hand, so i was concerned about the size of the nano (having previously owned a 20GB ipod), but I was pleasantly surprised that the nano can hold everything I want while still giving me a lot of music to choose from. The size of the unit itself is very compact so it can fit in any pocket, but even though it is small, it is sturdy. I have dropped mine several times, and it doesn't even scratch. I recommend getting the car adaptor if you get the nano, because it's very convenient to have the ipod in the car....

I love my ipod mini. I have had it for a few years now and have had the best of luck with it. It does seem to have short battery life, but having a car charger and a wall charger have resolved that for me. In my opinion it is the cutest addition to the ipod collection yet. Although I wish that Apple still made accessories for it....

I was one of the first people to buy the ipod mini when it first came out - 1st Gen. Ok, so it is EXTREMELY popular and cool to have. iPods are like a status symbol or something. So it's got the coolness, prettiness and innovator thing down. But in terms of function, this darn thing does not compare to other mp3s on the market. First, I've had to replace this ipod 3x!!! Granted I've dropped it a couple of times, but who hasnt dropped their cell phone or other gadgets once or twice? But they dont break. iPods do. Very fragile things. Battery life sucks. It's supposed to last like 4 hours, but now it's down to 1/2 hour or something crazy like that. Had this now for a few years. No more warranty so I can't replace it. Going to buy a new mp3 down the line.

Sadly, given all it's faults, i'll probably buy another apple ipod...cuz it's slim, pretty and very cool...and i already have ALL my songs on iTunes...and to lazy to switch over if I have to....
