I got my first IPOD in Dec of 2007 it was the classic IPOD. I was so excited I couldn't wait to get to the gym to try it out. I spent the next few hours downloading songs. Once I had enough good workout songs I went to 24 hour fitness. I couldn't understand why it kept jumping as I ran on the treadmill. I asked some friends to see if this was a common problem and it was. I decided to take it to the Apple store to see if they could fix it. They ran some testes and determined that there was nothing wrong with it. I was told that you cannot expect the IPOD to work properly at the gym because it has a (mini computer chip in it). I was upset because I really have no use for it other than that. So I ended giving the IPOD to my best friend, who does seems to find a good use for it daily. My sister was able to hook the IPOD up to her car radio, which I think is a great idea. It gives you more options than a cd. I do not recomend you take the Ipod to the gym.

Ok, on to the review..I just got my 80 gb ipod classic recently with a 3 year extended service plan, immediately got itunes version 7.5 and upgraded the firmware immediately to 1.0.3 which seems to have taken care of A LOT of bugs people have been reporting. It must have because I am not getting ANY of the problems other have reported such as laggy clickwheel, itunes freezing etc. The clickwheel is VERY responsive, only a light touch is needed and scrolling through cover art was very quick! No problems whatsoever with the clickwheel. I also have had no problems copying files to itunes and transferring them to my ipod. The ipod itself is a thing of beauty, love the non scratchable surface but the back of the ipod is where you can see all the fingerprints etc so get a good cover for it. The slimness of it is very sleek and heck this ipod just looks cool. I got the ipod up and running in no time after I transferred my music over. Love the search feature as well. There is a lot of features,...
...

i love the ipod classic it is one of my favorites i am the type of person who listens to ton of music and and watch videos. this has everything that i want. it includes the wide screen you can take it anywhere they are made by generation the ipod classic is the 5 generation i think not very sure,my sisters had one before me and they loved it and they are more into music then me. the features that applied to me are the GB that comes with it and its many accessorys. to me i don't know of any downside that i can think of that concerns this product at the present moment for it has everything that i want and use. but you may have your own personnel opinion of coarse. music is my passion its what helps me think and this u can take anywhere. this to me would be the best gift to anyone. and i would recommended this no matter what to any one who has a passion with music such as me.

thank you very much

I will buy it

The Classic's most impressive design improvement is its dramatically overhauled menu system. One of the most striking changes is a split-screen main menu that displays the selections on the right half of the screen and a picture related to the selection on the left. For example, highlight the Music selection on the main menu, and the right half of the screen displays a random, drifting close-up of cover artwork from your music library. This same effect accompanies menu items such as movies, podcasts, and photos. Some might write off this split-screen effect as pure novelty, but the end result is quite beautiful. The Cover Flow system, for browsing your music collection with an emphasis on album artwork, finally makes its Classic debut, although Cover Flow does lose some appeal when not on a touch-screen device such as the iPhone. We also found a noticeable amount of lag using Cover Flow. Users with large music collections to sort through will prefer browsing using the list...
...

I absolutely love my ipod. It is the perfect size to fit in a bag or purse and not get in the way. The battery lasts FOREVER! I can use mine for an entire week while doing work or working out and not have to charge it. Also, the amount of music it can hold is fantastic! I have tons of music and I never really know what kind I am going to want to listen to, so having 80 GB has been so nice!

Though it doesn't have a camera as some of the newer versions, I think it is still a good buy. If you want to use it for working out, you will have to buy an arm band separate, but those are inexpensive and easy to find in stores such as Target or Walmart.

I honestly cannot remember not having my ipod to listen to, and this model, especially was a great upgrade to my old first-generation 4 GB one. At first I was a little hesitant about purchasing a new ipod since my previous one was still in excellent condition, just too small, but I am glad I did.
...

I Love My I-Pod I always have it with me, I am constantly listening to music. My Ipod has lots of space and very easy to work and save files to.
However sometimes it does not like to connect to the internet, and freezes.

I bought games on mine, but I have to play either the ones that were on there or the ones I bought cant mix and match if I want to I have to reset the system.

Its light and durable considering I am a person that drops things all the time this one has lasted for me. I have had it for 2 years now I believe it is.

The battery last me a long time I do not turn it off during the day cause I use it in my car and around the house, so its always running.

I do wish that I could save the files on my ipod to a zip drive cause its way more convienet then haveing to redownlaod my music when I get a new ipod. Also the i tunes software you can not purchase something on one computer and get it on the next even if you are on your account. I know they do this so you dont share i suppose...
...

The iPod has been known for its reliability, however, my iPod classic has been known to freeze and lag when searching through my music. I'm saying this now because pretty much everything else was a positive investment. I can keep a lot of my music together, whether I'm on the schoolbus getting a ride home or at a party trying to get the mood. This is a fantastic buy for all of you music lovers who can't just pick 1,000 songs to listen to. It's about quality and availability of the things you love, in this case, music.
...

I really love my Apple iPod Classic 80G. It literally has tons of memory and comes in a variety of colors. I had one in a dark blue color, and you can get skins (cover / protectors) that add some uniqueness to your iPod. The sound quality that comes from these little things are great and you can adds hundreds of song without making a dent in the memory. The album covers that appear on the screen are very clear and I haven't had any problems with the iPod. I have heard from some people that the screens tend to freeze but that can be easily fixed by simply holding the Menu and the selector button. The battery also lasts for a really long time which is ideal for athletes, as you are constantly on the go and rarely have time to wait for your iPod to charge. It is quite small but not so small that you would lose it. It's great for throwing into your athletic bag or for women, your purses.
...

I have the Apple iPod Classic 80G and it is absolutely wonderful. I have one in an Aqua color and I have about 700 songs and still have tons of memory. It is portable and easy to carry around. The sound is crisp and clear and it has a lot of little capabilities on it. It comes with the Solitaire game and a fun music game that randomizes your songs and you have to name that song. The images for albums are really clear as well. I haven't had any problems with my iPod. It has freezed a few times but you simply have to hold the menu and circular button and it restarts. The screen is larger than your typical iPod player. You can upload notes onto your iPod which is really good in times of last minute studying and such. The battery also lasts for a really long time. I simply recharge for 20 minutes and it lasts for hours which is a bonus. A lot of electronics run out of battery really quickly which is makes having the electronic more hectic than necessary.
...

I never had an ipod classic 80G before. I would surely love to try it to see if I like it. I like the fact that it plays music and that it has lots of storage. Also you can play you faviorite music videos. If I do decide to buy it I would make sure it works first and test it to see if it does what it's supost to do. I love to watch movies so I hope that it play movies. I would buy one at the price that I can afford. I see that it is expensive not all ipod classics are to much money I guess. My sister owns one she bought an arm strap to go along with it I don't think she pays to much money for hers. Why does the Ipod classic only come in the color's black in silver why not blue?

What I like about the Ipod is that it's very light weight easy to hold in the palm of my hands. I can travel with it it's better then a radio.

I hope that it plays games so that I can alow myself or my children to play. Does it alow me to watch TV shows or down load TV shows from my computer or the...
...

The Apple iPod is well worth the price you pay for it. I love the portability of this product, and it has so much storage on it...I don't know if I will ever have enough music and video files to fill it up! I got a case for it and carry it with headphones every day while on my early morning walk. It is great for vacations; ours has traveled with us all over the States and to the Caribbean. It is nice for in the car road trips if you have a car adapter. I love not having to constantly hunt for that one CD I want or carry multiple CD's around everywhere. It is nice having them all in one little iPod that I can pack away easily and access whenever I want. We have had no problems with ours, and it is about three years old; battery life is still great and it looks as new as when we bought it. My friends and I all rave about this product, and the quality of sound is really good - we bought a dock for ours, and it is wonderful how such a small item can have such unbelievable quality!
...

Now, one size really does fit all… As long as you don’t mind it having a hard drive, and don’t need wifi connectivity or a large screen for video and games.

The iPod Classic may be Apple’s least innovative currently available iPod… except for maybe the shuffle, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t buy it.

This iPod is essentially the same as the previous Generation iPod Classic. The only difference is that it comes standard in only one size, the 120GB. This size is really more than enough. No one could possibly buy that much music. As apple states, the device holds 30,000 songs. To actually buy that would cost as much as $30,000. So only the ultra rich or people with massive illegally downloaded music and video libraries will actually need the full 120GB.

Hardware -

This iPod is about as standard as you can get. It is aluminum, 4.1 inches tall, 2.4 inches wide, and .41 inches deep. It has a 2.5 inch diagonal screen that displays 320×240 pixels.

I have had my iPod for a few years now and I am very glad that I bought it. In the time that I have had my iPod I have traveled to both Iraq and Afghanistan in that time and it has been holding out like a champ both times. I went with the 80gb ipod because I have a lot of music and it holds all of it without any problems and I still have room for a lot more or to even add some videos on there. In the entire time I have had my iPod I have only really had one video on it just due to the fact that the screen is really small and so it's kind of hard to watch things on there. On the other hand I do know a lot of other people that have there ipods loaded with movies and love that they can watch whatever movie they want on it while in airports, on planes, or just about anywhere and it gives you something to do when you have to kill some time.

Another advantage is that the batteries last for quite a while. Of course it is dependant on how long you keep the screen lit up for and the volume...
...

The iPod has so much storage! I have thousands of songs on it and there is still plenty of space for more!

I wish there were cuter exercise cases for the 80 gig, but I could only find one that had a clip with it.

The size is good-- it seems more sturdy than the tiny nano iPods. I don't worry when I drop it (so long as it's in its case).

I guess the battery life is okay. It is not fantastic, but it is not as if I have to charge it every day or anything like that. Just be sure to watch the little battery at the top because once it is out of battery life it shuts off and you can't get it on again.

They do freeze easily and my first one broke after a year and a half or two years, but I used it every day. If you do not plan on using it every day for three hours or so then it will probably last longer. Be sure to keep the manual because it has tips for if it freezes. Something about toggling the switch.

Overall a good product with just a few issues.
...
