I love this Mac PowerBook G4, it is at least six years old and still going. This computer got me through college and then some. I, literally, would not have been able to get through college without it. Not only did I write all of my papers and conduct all of my research on it, but I have a character recognition program that reads books to me (and without this computer would not have been able to read my books or study).

During my college years, I took this computer everywhere. It helped me accommodate my disability. I took all of my notes on it and kept all of my books as well. It was a notebook, a text book, and a reader. It saved me time and energy; it saved my eyes (from reading and strain); it saved my back from having to carry all of those books. My MacBook G4 has saved me.

Though after all these years, it is going...the battery is dwindling and so too is the motherboard (in all likelihood) since I cannot use the computer without plugging it in and the charge only lasts...
...

UWPiPhiAngel says "Best Computer Ever!!!" about Apple PowerBook G4 Mac Notebook

I purchased my Apple Powerbook in November 2003 and didn't buy a new computer until February 2009. I maxed out the memory and hard drive, but 60GB of storage turned out to be not enough for me. Even now, it doesn't feel outdated, which justifies its higher price ($3000 with student discount). The only reason I bought a new PC was so I could try other software.

You would think a design so sleek would not be very durable, but I have dropped my Powerbook on numerous occasions and it has not affected the performance one bit. The thing I enjoyed most was not having to worry about viruses. With such great quality, I don't see the need to get an extended warranty.

I look forward to getting the newer version of Powerbook as my next computer. It should have all the goodness of the old model, plus built-in webcam, bluetooth, and be Windows compatible. With these new features, there will be no reason to consider any other!
...

I got my Apple Laptop from a friend because they bought a new one and he said he never had any problems with it, so I was excited to get it because I cant afford one. It was fine for a few days but then it kept gettting really hot after 20 minutes and then it would start shutting off.

I love my apple, I just wish I knew what was wrong with it.
...

MAC PowerBook G4

I would recommend this computer to anyone who can get ahold of one. It is older, however I have found this one of the most user friendly laptops. I mainly use it for email, surfing, and the like, so nothing overwhelmingly difficult. This computer, although I don't use it to its fullest capacity, has many different options. One of the best features is that I can have Microsoft products like excel, word, and powerpoint. For those of you who grew up with Microsoft products, this makes the conversion a lot easier. I am also able to do projects at home and take them to work, and not have to worry whether my files will convert or not. I was a bit skeptical at first, but when my fiancee gave me this laptop, I was surprised at how well I liked it. I have since converted my mom and dad, and my sister and her husband. We are now truly a MAC family. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to bring a user friendly computer into their home.
...

I hate to admit this, but I love my Apple PowerBook G4. I tried so hard not to buy one since everyone was jumping into the Apple bandwagon; and I ended up receiving the Apple Powerbook as a birthday present. I was still resistant to use my Macbook at first, but I was so fed up with my Sony Vaio, so I gave the Macbook a chance. And I love it. It's so easy to use and it works beautifully. There are so many great and fun features and I haven't had any trouble with any of them yet. The Macbook is also so convenient to carry around and it's just so slick and shinny. It's just great. If you have the extra money to spend on a laptop, buy an apple laptop. The apple tax is totally worth it. I used to have an IBM, then a HP, and finally a Sony Vaio before using the apple. Of all the laptops I've ever owned, Apple PowerBook is by far my favorite. I'm going to get one for my best friend for his birthday because I really like the Apple laptop.
...

steveken says "The PowerBook G4 does a GREAT job despite its age." about Apple PowerBook G4 Mac Notebook

I know this is a review for a really old laptop, but I thought it would be a useful thing to have on here in the off chance someone was wanting to buy an older model Apple laptop. There are still several available all over the Internet and can still provide a lot of value to any user. The last generation of the Apple PowerBook G4 came out in late 2006 and is showing its age in regards to overall speed of the system. Despite the fact that its old, it still does a darned good job as a laptop that a person can use on a daily basis. The lack of an Intel processor does hurt it in the fact that it can't do Windows in a Virtual PC very well. The system has bluetooth, wi-fi, cd/dvd dual layer burner, spacious hard drive, and a modest amount of ram that had to be upgraded to a full 1GB to be real usable. The machine I am using has a 15" widescreen display that is very bright even when working outside in the sun. The battery life is quite good at around 3 hours or so when not using...
...

I have the 12" PowerBook G4, and absolutely love it. I hope Apple starts making this smaller size of laptops again as they are fantastic for people who move around a lot and need their computer with them. I like that this unit lightweight, but self-contained, unlike the new "Air" laptop that needs external drives for CDs/DVDs. The PowerBook is a powerful computer and I have not had any problems with it - a huge improvement over my previous PC, which froze quite often. The computer comes with iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie, and iDVD software. The only thing I am really unhappy with is the design of the power cord. Although the length is great when you use the provided extension cord, the rubber sleeve connecting the cord to the computer input plug has started to break and is exposing the wires inside.
...

I bought this computer in 2004, at the same time I was moving into a new house, so money was a little tight. I wanted to be more mobile, and to be able to watch movies and go online outside. Also I can take the computer when I travel.

I've had it four years now, and I love it! I have the 17" model. Originally planned to get the 15", but fell in love in the Apple store. No regrets.
...

Great computer! My primary complaint is that some software is only Windows compatible, which isn't really a fault of the computer itself, but an inconvenience nonetheless. I have had my computer 3 years and have had to replace the battery once and also add more RAM. Other than that, it has been great.
...

This computer is absolutely terrible and I would not recommend this to anyone. It has horrible specs, bad internet capicity, and very pricy. Overall terrible computer, and I would not recommend it to anyone. Definately one of the worst computers in an overall terrible line of computers....

My Powerbook G4 was my first Apple product, and I have loved every minute of the switch from a PC. It's three years old now, and is finally starting to show a little wear and tear. I just had my main logic board replaced (I cannot stress enough - GET APPLE CARE) and will probably have to have the hard drive and memory replaced soon. It's a great little computer, and one of my favorite things has been the 12" size - hardly as big as a textbook. Currently, the 13" Macbooks are the smallest size offered, which is disappointing....

I didn't even realize that they were still making PowerBooks, but it makes me happy because I love mine so much. These computers are affordable and, above all, durable. I'm not a gamer, so I don't know how the processing power would hold up if you were doing something really intense, but for normal, all-purpose computer, this is way to go....
