Junell says "Makes my work-out fun :) " about Apple/Nike + iPod Sport Kit

The iPod Sport Kit was recommended to me so I decided to try this out. I use this when I go to the gym or aerobics but mainly when I go for walks. It's simple to use and it motives you to do better with each task. The one thing I don't like is that it freezes up sometimes when you switch quickly from sport mode back to your main iPod menu. I've had to reset my iPod Nano twice so far. Also, this will not work on crosstrainers or stationary bikes since you're not physically taking steps. Some gym machines are iPod-ready but it depends on where you go.

If you don't have Nike shoes...there are covers you can buy (bought mine on-line) to hold your sensor to fit on any shoe with laces.

I enjoy the fact that you can find out exactly how far you've walked with a simple push of a button on your iPod. I love hearing my progress as I listen to my music during my workout.
...

MayaBree says "Pushes me to move more and do better then the last time." about Apple/Nike + iPod Sport Kit

Nike+ Sensor was added to my tools to keep me healthy, June 2009. I love it and use it all the time! I was more excited when I found out that I didn't have to have the special shoe.

Pros:

The Sensor talks to you through your iPod, you can even pick a male or female voice. You set it up with the information you want it to tell you.

It is small and there are rubber cases available that will attach your sensor to any shoe.

There is a sleep button so when it is not in use you are not using up all of the power.

If you are a marathoner and can't use a MP3 player in your runs there is an arm band that will collect the data for you without the music.

It is cost effective and a replacement sensor is only $20 bucks on Amazon.

Comes with a free personal trainer website that stores and tracks your workout log. It has challenges and fun things that you can do against other people or yourself.

Cons:

It is kind of small, easy to lose if you take it off your shoe on a regular basis, I...

...

I have had the iPod Sports kit, and it was intresting to say the least but I have to say that though it worked great when I had the iPod 2nd gen to which it worked with. When I upgraded to an iPod touch... it wasn't working for me any more. Other then that I had to spend $90.00 + for a pair of shose just to use it. If they could come up with some addaption that would work for any iPod out there (outside that of a shuffle) and maybe have the cencer work on any style of shoe... that would make me go back out and get a new kit....

This product has quality and is veru useful for exercising. It is a pretty reasonable price, considering it is Nike quality and the sports kit includes everything you would need to enhance exercise.
I started running about a year ago. A couple months after I started, a friend had recomended I purchase a Nike+. I'm glad I took his advice. It tracks my miles for me so I don't have to take the extra time and gas to drive the route I ran to try to figure out how many miles it was. It is so easy to use and it also tracks how many calories you burn each workout. I also love plugging my ipod into my computer and the ipod sends my workouts to nikeplus.com where I can look at all of my previous runs, set goals, enter challenges, and interact with other runners. I won't run without my Nike+....

This is a great product. This is a good way to meet other runners, and to keep track of your workouts. I have logged more than 100 miles since I purchased mine, and I love it!

The only drawback is the interface between the nike website and itunes. Sometimes it takes a while for the run to upload to the nike website. But, other than that, I have never had any problems with this product.
...

I love this gadget. It is perfect for the casual runner who is not looking at investing $200-$300 into a running watch. At only $30 (If you own a nano) this is a great little gadget. You can set your workouts, do goals on the website, and there is a little motivational person living inside your ipod who updates you on your progress as you run. I have heard that the sensors do die, and there is no way to replace the battery. However, online I have seen the sensor only sold for less than the original set-up. I have had mine, and used it actively, for about 2 months with o problem. I do not have Nike shoes, but have used it with brooks and Suaconys successfully. You can get little cases for your laces, put it under the tongue of your shoe, or with my sauconys, they surprising have a little slit in the tongue where it fits perfectly. My only down side is that it is not incredibly accurate with distance. I have calibrated it, but it still seems to be a little generous with......

The Nike+ sports device requires an iPod Nano to work. You also need a special Nike+ pair of running shoes. You place the sensor in your shoe, the receiver on the dock connector of your iPod, choose your song and run. The device communicates to you the distance you've gone, how far you have to go, the pace at which you're currently running. Although you will occasionally need to re-calibrate the sensor, this is a wonderful running aid that just works!
...

My husband got me the nike sport kit for Christmas to go with my Ipod. I love to run anyways and he thought this would be a good gift and he was right. I went out and bought a new pair of Nike running shoes to go with it. You have to make sure you get the nikes with the + as they are the ones with the opening for the sensor. I started it up, picked my power song, Lose youself by eminem and started running. There are many different options you can choose such as Distance, Time or Calories. I always choose distance and a voice comes on over my music to tell me for instance I have run 1 km or that I am half way done. When you have run farther than you ever have Lance Armstrong tell you that was the farthest you have ever run congratulations. When you are finished running you plug in your ipod to the computer and it sends all your information to the Nike web site. On the Nike web site you can view all your runs. You can set goals and track your progress. You can join challenges with other......
