I have just recently purchased a MacBook this year. I have found that it works well with all of my technological needs. On top of that, my new laptop has given me more resources and outlets than I could have ever imagined. Coming from an ex PC user I found that once I began to be able to work a MacBook I was very satisfied with all that it ever does. MacBook's and Macintosh products in general are worth any amount because of the quality it provides to its user. Switching from PC to mac is not nearly as hard as some would suspect but once you switch it would be hard to go back. They are user friendly and give their users more options and tools than most all else that is out there. Macs also seem to fight off viruses much better which is a quality most college aged people like myself look forward to. Having a Mac has advanced my ability to be tech savvy and to become more confident in my computer skills. I could not be happier.
...

kailuen says "great" about Apple MacBook Notebook

Coming from a troubled Nvidia 8600M GT MacBook Pro - let me say that I was very skeptical buying another Apple Laptop with nVidia chip in it.

However, one weekend I decided to visit the nearest Apple Retail Store and check out the newly released models. My decision was mostly influenced by the reduced prices and increased battery life.

After some debating over buying the older model for same price or getting the latest one we settled on the newest mid end $1999 model with 2 GPUs. As is common I got a very nice resale price for my older MacBook Pro as it had AppleCare.

This generation is an all around improvement over the past generation unless you happen to be using ExpressCard on 15" model that is. In our case we never used the ExpressCard after attempting to use a eSATA card that did not work really well. And we have a few SD Cards that we figure we can easily use.

So on to the specific improvements over its predecessor -
1) Battery Life - I was very doubtful that the battery would...
...

My employer gave us these, so I really wouldn't have tried it otherwise. I'm so glad I did though. The mac starts up very quickly, I am online practically instantly. it doesn't keep asking me if i'm sure i want to shut down it just does. It works intuitively and is very simple once you get the hang of everything being on the opposite side. And you'll never miss that extra mouse button, trust me. The best thing is that I don't have any trouble with viruses and adware like I did with a PC.
...

For years I've been a frustrated pc user when it came to either playing my Sims 1 & 2, surfing the net and feeling paranode of my privacy & security online (virus) up to the point of dealing with webdesigning speed when launching any graphic program with difficulty. All this to a freezing point!

However, ever since I bought my Macbook 13" (Tiger Os X 10.4) laptop everything is stress free, it runs smooth and with the best speed with both internet surfing, loading my graphic applications to gaming as well...and not forgetting to mention that recently I upgraded it to Mac OS X version 10.6 Snow Leopard and it's proformance is the BEST!. I could have not been more pleased. The power of this Macbook is perfect for daily computing and basic development.

In addition, not forgetting to mention that it has the ability to run your Windows OS with either Bootcamp or Parallel application.Giving those pc / mac user lover the option to switch between the both of them.

When I first purchased my Macbook I never thought it would be quite this amazing! I know the typical argument between mac's and pc's is that mac's are so different and it would be a hard adjustment. However I found it extremely easy to switch over from my pc to my mac. They walk you through all the steps. Almost any program has both a pc and a mac version, so your never limited to specific programs. Everything is easily excessable, using symbols at the bottom. I have had my mac now for a year and a half and it runs as fast and performs as quickly as the first time i used it. I never have a problem with pop ups or viruses. My whole family is using mac computers, and they always recommend it to anyone who's thinking about purchasing a laptop. My boyfriend thought they were overpriced, hard to use, and looked femine... he now has had one for over a year, has a black cover and absolutely loves it. He tells me all the time how it was definitely worth the money he spent on it.
...

dizzydame says "My Macbook is my best friend." about Apple MacBook Notebook

I plan on spending the majority of this review saying what I don't like about my Macbook, but before I get into this, let me make one thing absolutely clear: I adore this computer. I take it with me everywhere I go. It's my best friend, it's better than a boyfriend. If I were a casual computer user I probably wouldn't have a single problem at all. I put this machine through some serious wear and tear, and it has held up like a champ. But - after three years, there are some issues and this review will mostly document those.

A: Cracks. My laptop is the kind with the plastic casing, and over time it has developed this bad habit of cracking along the edges. The top, on either side of the webcam... the sides by the keyboard. All horrible about cracking to the point where I've had to actually get tape and tape up certain places so it doesn't snag and crack more.

B: The DVD drive. The DVD drive still plays perfectly but it occasionally doesn't want to give my dvds back to me. And by occasionally...
...

Intro
For years we have hated our cable company, yet other choices didn't exist for us. Of course, the cable company knew it, and used it to their advantage with outrageous fees and a terrible service. We talked about making a switch to a satellite dish for a few years, and once we finally made the decision, we never looked back.

The Programming Choices
With DirecTV, we have the same types of choices of packages of channels that we had with cable TV. Basic, the average "most popular" package, and the package with everything including the kicthen sink. There is also a choice of premium channels, just as there is with cable TV. You can get paid sports programs, movie channels, Pay-Per-View, etc. We chose one movie package, whereas with cable we used to have two, but knew we didn't need two. They also have an NFL football package that allows you to get every NFL game, not just the local ones or the ones featured on the networks. That was a huge selling point for my husband, as he tailgates...
...

tarasPoints says "mac notebook" about Apple MacBook Notebook

Some cool features are:

Switchable graphics. Graphics cards are power hogs. Turning off a gigabyte of VRAM and the graphics chip is a big power saver. Users don’t need dedicated graphics surfing the web and reading email. This will be a feature on the high-end notebooks, while the low end Mac books will continue with integrated graphics.

WiMax. An optional daughtercard as Bluetooth and WiFi once were, but most people laying out three large for a notebook won’t mind an extra $99.

Solid-state disks. Since Apple controls both the hardware and the software their have unparalleled ability to leverage SSDs. Expect dual drive notebooks with a 64 GB flash drive for the OS and applications paired with a 160 GB 1.8 inch disk drive for additional capacity and performance.

Larger memory capacity. RAM may be an energy hog but it sure makes high-end notebooks faster and more stable. Expect to see the current 4 GB memory limit go to at least 8 GB.

RGB LED backlight. Another high-end feature that...

...

My husband chose to get this computer even though I wanted a sony viao, but I gave in because its was an open box special at best buy and we picked it up for about eight hundred dollars. When I first sat down with this computer I was completely confused and couldnt figure out how to open multiple internet pages. I had to call for my husband to help me on multiple occasions and play around with it alot, but once I got started i absolutely fell in love with this laptop and dreaded having to use my dell at work the next day.I love the fact that the internet never freezes and the chances of getting a virus on the mac laptop is so slim. The graphics are great when you play online games. The only con I have found so far is that some internet games run slow on the processor. Its great that you can bootcamp your computer so you can run windows and mac os as well. I just cant say enough good things about this laptop. I recommend this product to anyone in the market for a new lap top that has some...
...

I'm reviewing Apple's New 13" Macbook with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor. It's processor speed runs to 2 GHz with a Bus speed of 1.07 GHz. Standard memory is set to two DDR2 SDRAM 1 GB, with a speed of 667 MHz. Like most computers, it has bluetooth enabled and a built audio speaker and iSight webcam. It has the ability to parallel PC programs from windows 98 to the current versions. Thee touch pad has more sensitivity and is easier to use and control just as well as a normal mouse. With the new Leporad software installed, the computer can process at fast paced speeds with little interuption while running multiple programs. iPhoto, iTunes, and iMovie are all up tp date, making organization easier and efficient. I believe Apple has come up with more ways to put style and compatibility into their products. Not only are updates frequent and simple, they also take less time to install and reboot. Apple has always been known to build upon the idea of satisfaction and productivity. Mac...
...

I have been using PCs my whole life. I am always online and I love computer games. On my PCs I just always thought it was a sad fact of life that my games would run slowly and be choppy. So I bought a $2000 PC laptop and tried to play The Sims 2 on it. It still ran badly. I was so upset about spending so much on a computer that still wouldn't do what I wanted it to do.

Then a few weeks ago I bought the 13inch Macbook Pro and it runs everything quickly and seamlessly. I love the way it operates, I love the way it looks. It is so fast and it was about the same price as a good PC laptop would cost. I want to sleep with my Macbook in bed with me, that's how good it is.

The only thing I seem to have a problem with is the wireless internet in my house. My macbook doesn't seem to be picking it up well, and all the other computers in the house are not having a problem. So maybe the wireless component of the computer could be a little stronger. Perfect otherwise.
...

At the beginning of grad school, I purchased my first mac laptop, I used it for 3 years, even through my constant clumsy dropping of it repeatedly, it still managed to hang on for that long! Once that one died, to my elation I realized that the newer MacBook now comes with a power cord that is magnetic. I absolutely adore this feature! This has prevented me from sending the MacBook flying when I trip over the cord (it detaches from the computer). Since I have bought my MacBook I have yet to drop my laptop I am a very satisfied Mac customer. This computer has everything you need and more, it is extreemly user friendly and easy to operate. If you have ever seen any of the Mac commercials, in my experience, they are great because they describe exactly the experience you will get with each product. If you would like to see any of these ads they are readily available on the mac website to view: www.apple.com/getamac/ads/
...
