RudiXeno says "Now this is a museum!" about American Museum of Natural History

Recently, on a trip to the New York metro area, my wife and I wanted to plan a day in the city that the whole family would enjoy.

Often when I'm in New York alone I'll call one of my older daughters and we'll spend the day touring the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I love those moments when we share our love and thoughts about some of the world's finest pieces of art.

But on this trip my 11 year-old daughter was going to be the center of attention and we felt that this wouldn't yet be her thing.

What to do?

It's hard to go wrong spending a day (at least) roaming the American Museum of Natural History. That's what we decided to do. And, of course or older daughters decided to take a day off to join us.

For me, the AMNH has always been about the dinosaurs. Sure, I enjoyed so much more, but I would always come back to the dinosaurs

The exhibits on Mammals, Reptiles and the Origins of Man are all incredible, but it's hard for anything to compare with the skeleton of a creature that walked the...
...

mrkstvns says "Bigger Really Is Better" about American Museum of Natural History

If you haven't already read Jo's review on this museum, go do so...I agree wholeheartedly with just about everything she said about the American Museum of Natural History, though I'm just totally gung-ho about the place.

I can't emphasize enough that you really need to allow some serious time to explore this wonderful museum. It is a HUGE place that a curious kid could easily totally immerse themselves in for at least a couple days. The dinosaur exhibits are amazing and the fossil collection is simply unbelievably expansive. What my kids liked best about exploring the fossil halls was that the museum has these wonderful glass walkways underneath of which is a long spine of some 20,000 year old dinosaur. The exhibit is stunning in its innovative presentation, giving the effect that the whole site was somehow preserved intact and moved into the exhibit hall so you and I could gawk at it. (It's also a great way to convey just how BIG some of those creatures really were.)

I like that there are......

Jo says "Have Children? You'll Want to Go to the Natural History Museum " about American Museum of Natural History

The American Museum of Natural History was our last destinations during our stay in New York City recently. Most will think this is a must see Museum. I agree however my husband loved the Museum; I liked it. If you have children it is certainly a must do.

The museum is too large to see in a day. You might want to plan out what you want to see before you go. There are special exhibits which will cost you extra.

The Museum is located at 79th Street and Central Park West. We went by public transportation which left us off essentially inside the Museum. The main entrance to the Rose Center for Earth and Space is located at 81st Street between Central Park West and Columbus Avenue.

The museum is open every day from 10:00 to 5:45p.m. There are so many things to do that giving you one price doesn’t make sense. The general admission is $10.00 and $6.00 for children.

“There are four floors of gallery space and the building is spread over an area of several city blocks. Inside there are 42 permanent...
...
