American Girl dolls all come with a story. The Samantha doll's stories tell about growing up in the year 1904. Samantha Parkington is an orphan and her grandmother takes her in. Eventually she moves to New York where her aunt and uncle take her in. Here she meets and makes some new friends. All of her accessories come from that time period. I love the furniture that you can buy.

My daughter got the Samantha doll when she was about eight or nine years old. This doll has incredible hair, it does not tangle like some of the cheaper department store dolls do. Also, the clothes are very well made. Everything about this doll is quality. You really don't appreciate how nice the doll is until you play with it.

The downside of this doll is the price. But because it was so expensive, my daughter really respected the doll and took great care of her. It was also nice to see that the American Girl Doll place has a doll hospital, just in case.

All in all, this is a nice gift for a young girl who likes...

We love the American Girl Dolls and their books. Samantha is a special favorite and we loved reading her books. The stories were sweet and fun. The dolls from American girls are always well-made and the clothing is of very high quality.

Worth the price.

My daughter wanted a baby doll so much and I looked for a very long time , until I found Samantha . Shes durable , adorable and perfect for any girl. with my daughter heading into her early teen age , shes just right. She will be able to play with her and then display her on a stand.
The prices are kind of high , but for the time I estimate she will have Samantha, she will pay herself off....

Santa would have to go a long way before he would be able to find a better modern toy for both little girls and grown-up doll collectors alike than an American Girl Doll. I took great pleasure in giving Felicity and several of her costumes to a favorite little girl of mine a few years back and my favorite aunt did the same for me with the doll of my own choice, Samantha (the Victorian lass). As an adult doll collector, of course I don't spend hours playing with the doll but she is displayed in a section of my wall unit behind glass and I now own the beautiful Samantha trunk crammed full of exquisitely crafted little outfits, hats, shoes, and bows (also compliments of my auntie!).

As a doll connoisseur, I must admit that I don't think the American Girl Dolls have the same glowing complexions and sensitivity of expression present in some of the antique bisque dolls I have been fortunate enough to acquire over the years but they are still as beautiful as a modern doll can be (and of...

American Girls dolls are wonderful role models for young girls!
The stories are always about smart girls who help their families, friends, and loved ones in tough situations, but through strenght, smarts, and perserverance change every situation for the better. They dress modestly but in nice fashions, and teach girls about the history of the time periods the dolls live in.

Samantha has always been my favorite of the American Girls, and I am all thumbs up for this one!

This Samantha doll from American Girl is a very nice doll. This was my daughter's first American Girl doll. She now has several of them, and this is her favorite. These dolls are very durable and made of great quality materials. They are a bit pricy, but will last a lifetime. It's worth paying the price for the quality. Great collectable!!...

The American Girl dolls are amazing! Not only are they durable, pretty and so fun to play with, but they are educational too. Each doll comes with "her own story". Some dolls are from different times in history. Other dolls are just adorable and fun to play with. Some of the dolls also have movies about them. My girls are 5 yrs old. They started 3 years ago with the Bitty Baby dolls, then the Bitty Twin dolls and now they have the American Girl dolls. Perfect for girls up to 10 and beyond! They are expensive but so worth it!...

Samantha's Holiday Coat was given to me for Christmas. I took it out and held it and thought that it was the most beautiful article of clothing made by the Pleasant Company. When I put it on my doll, I was sure that it would make her come to life and start Christmas Caroling right there!

The coat is a beautiful purple color with a faux fur trim, but the buttons may be difficult for little girls to put on because it has snaps and little hooks. The outfit comes with the coat, little black mittens, and a hat with little flowers on the velveteen band. It is made to wrap around your little 18" Samantha doll and will fit any of the other American Girl Dolls. It is $26.00 and can be ordered from americangirl.com or the American Girl catalogue.

When I was three years old, Santa brought me my Samantha doll with a trunk full of clothes and all of the books from her series. I found that Samantha was a doll that symbolized a fictional character from a point in the history of America. My father would read me all of the books and my mother and grandmother would make the two of us matching dresses and nightgowns. Samantha became my best friend and I still have her today. I still buy her little dresses from the American Girl catalogue and even though my grandmother is not still with us and I can't fit into those nightgowns anymore, I still dress her up in them and remember my favorite doll from my childhood.
