bargainbuster says "Nice quality - but expensive" about American Girl Dolls

OK, so my daughter really likes this doll. The quality is very good. We purchased the Just Like You doll. We were looking through all of the reviews and found that the dolls with the "curly" hair do not fare as well (so we decided against Rebecca which was one of the dolls that my daughter wanted). This doll came with very nice clothes. She has a soft body and soft vinyl arms, legs, and face. We also sprung for the 7.00 American Girl doll brush (which is nice, but not necessary).

I don't know how long her interest will be in this doll (hopefully quite some time). The doll is about 100.00 and I could only find it on the American Girl doll website. (Be sure to check different websites for coupon codes to get free shipping - one click saved me 13.00). There are a lot of clothes and add ons that people can buy so you don't have a bunch of random gifts for Christmas and Birthdays. If family and friends know your child is an American Girl doll fanatic, then it would be nice to collect the clothes....
...

jank1708 says "well worth it" about American Girl Dolls

American Girls Dolls are simply the best. I thought, at one point in time, that they would be a complete waste of money to purchase. But when I decided to purchase one for each of my grand-daughters for Christmas last year, the look of amazement and happiness on their two little faces when they opened their gift and saw the American girl dolls, meant everything to me. They were so happy to have these dolls that I would probably buy them another one next Christmas if I knew that I would see their faces light up like this again. These dolls go everywhere with my two grand-daughters. They love to change the dolls clothes and ,Yes, I did buy some of those expensive American girl doll clothes. I really don't understand what is so different about having an American girl doll instead of some other doll, but according to my two doll experts, Emmi and Autumn, these dolls are a must. And they are so great!!!
...

trixi says "My daughter and I both love them!" about American Girl Dolls

My daughter loves the American Girl line of dolls and products. Every year she asks Santa for a new doll. She was also fortunate to get a hand-me-down doll from someone who outgrew hers. I would not reccommmend getting one until you are certain the girl will take care of it-they are too expensive to not care for them properly. But they are not fragile and girls get lots of fun and play from them. My daughter plays most when she has accessories to go with the dolls. There are good buys on the web site. Check the sale section often. My daughter enjoys the books that go along with the dolls and that has been a big plus for me. I wish we lived closer to an American Girl Doll store so I could take her for the experience.

These are dolls that can be saved for grandchildren. I saved the original boxes so I can pack them away when she outgrows them.
...

Alicen3 says "Great dolls, high quality, but expensive." about American Girl Dolls

Just to make this clear, I have young siblings and cousins, I myself was once young, and I know small kids, but I do NOT have a kid of my own. I'm too young. Haha.

So anyway, with that out of the way, I have myself two american girl dolls left over from my younger years. I plan to pass them onto my kids once I get some. American girls are a high quality doll with a wide range of looks, different hair, eye and skin colors, and different histories. They can be educational, teaching your child about historical times since they come with their own special books. They are a good example for kids and they are fun to play with. The only downside is that each doll costs about ninety dollars. I know, right? But don't give up yet! They really are fun and educational. I loved them, as did/does my cousins and siblings.
...

carolscookie says "American Girl Dolls should be made in America" about American Girl Dolls

The American Girl Doll is a very popular and expensive product for little girls. The dolls themselves have some nice features such as a variety of hair and eye colors and even skin tones. Each doll is designed with a costume representing a different period in american history. They are decent quality dolls. You can even find matching dress sets for your little girl and her American Girl doll.

I was looking for some specific accessories for my daughters doll. I made some phone calls trying to contact the company. I knew that originally the dolls and accessories were manufactured in the United States. However I was appalled to find out the when Matel purchased the American Girl line, they moved the production facilites to SouthEast Asia. This just seems to me like a slap in the face to american workers. I had always assumed that they were made here in America. What else would you expect with a doll named American Girl? The dolls alone can cost almost $100 American Dollars. ...
...

victoria24 says "Expensive but definitely worth it" about American Girl Dolls

I am not a parent but someone who collects dolls. I got my first American Girl doll when I was 8 and I have added to my collection over the years. I am now in college and am still a fan. From colonial-era Felicity to depression-era Kit to the modern American Girl dolls that you can design yourself, American Girl is a great toy for girls of all ages and even grown-ups who like to collect toys.

American Girls are a line of 18' dolls from different eras of American history, as well as dolls of today. You can even choose the eye and hair colors of your doll so that she looks like you. Each doll comes with a series of books that tell her story. In addition to being fun and imaginative, American Girl is educational. The books teach kids about history, and the characters are good role models.

One of the best things about American Girl is the wide range of clothes and accessories that you can buy. Each doll has numerous outfits, as well as furniture, pets, and basically anything else you can...
...

American Girl Dolls

A zillion years ago, or sometime in the 1990's, I was a graduate student doing a lot of babysitting to afford those Oodles of Noodles. I babysat for a family with two little girls who had American Girl dolls. I thought they were really neat dolls but when I saw the prices, I thought no way, never, never. Well, guess what? Now I am a Mom of a nine year daughter who is growing up so fast that I am delighted for her to have and play with her American Girl dolls. What's even better is that the grandparents are buying them! Thank you grandparents!

Our daughter first choose Felicity. Felicity is Felicity Merriman, "a spunky colonial girl growing up as America is on the brink of the Revolutionary War." Our daughter choose Felicity because Felicity has her auburn hair color and Felicity loves horses too.

Recently Kaya joined our family. Kaya is a Native American doll and "an adventurous girl who loves riding her horse, Steps High." Kaya arrived for our daughter's......
