I was overseas travelling three times last year, returning to receive the statement and paid a day or two late each time.

Returning from the last trip my rate escalated to 27% plus.

So sure it's my fault but haven't used the card since....

American Express was one of the easier credit card to obtain. However since the recent declined in the economy... they are among the first to decrease your credit line even if you make payments on time! This sucks and would close the account if it weren't for my starpoints!...

One of two known cards that let you earn >1 mile/point per dollar spent. Well, to be truthful, you do earn only one point per dollar spent on regular purchases. The advantage that moves this to 1.25 miles per dollar spent is when you redeem for frequent flyer miles in 20,000 point increments. At that redemption level Amex moves 25,000 miles into the slected frequent flyer account. Other highly worthwhile advantages to the card are a reasonable annual fee, and the warranty extension offer. All purchases made using the card get their warranty doubled up to one additional year, at no add'l charge. We've successfully and painlessly replaced microwaves, vacumn cleaners, and expensive coffee machines using this program, making up the annual card fee for many years to come....

I love this card because we love to use Starpoints. We are middle class and can't usually afford nice hotels to stay in. But using Starpoints, we always have a classy place to stay and the kids love it! I'm glad there is a way to earn Starpoints without having to spend extra money. I just use my card and voila! every few months, we've earned another night. The only thing I don't like is the annual fee (which I have never had to pay on a credit card before) and the fact that some places don't accept American Express....

As per the frequent flyer gurus, this is a great card for someone who loves to travel. You earn extra points if you use this at starwood properties. Starwood allows you to transfer the points to airlines and if you transfer 20,000 points usually at a 1:1 mile ratio, you actually get 25,000. I don't pay attention to interest rates since I pay the balance in full each month. Better yet, if you charge a certain amount each year, you automatically qualify for gold starwood preferred guest status, so if you are a business traveler like me, it qualifies you for various perks at the hotels, including extra starwood points for your stay....

I have had my American Express Starwood card for about 10 years. It is an American Express card that allows you to earn points for stays at any Starwood property (W, Westin, Regis, Sheraton, etc)-- or, you can convert your points to miles. I am hooked and use it to buy nearly EVERYTHING!

How you earn points.
You earn 1 point for every dollar spent and then double points when staying at a Starwood property. It seems that I somehow manage to accumulate a lot of points every year.

Annual Percentage
To be honest, I dont check out the annual percentage rate since I pay off my bills monthly-- so they might not have a compelling percentage.

Redeeming Starwood points
Starwood has so many great hotels, that there is always a good option. You also dont need that many points to redeem for a free stay. The great thing is that when traveling through a small town on a road trip, we can easily get one or two rooms and never have to pay! I love it. Also, there are no blackout dates and free nights start...
...
