Watch out! I have been a customer / card holder for 10 years. We booked a flight to Vagas on this card and rooms a week or so in advance. The day we arrived in Las Vegas Nevada 2000 miles form home american express closed or credit lines for a financial review and asked us to provide financial, proof opf income etc after the fact, the balances have always been paid n full, of course we had plenty of cash and our trusty master card visa. It seems that would be the one I leave home with out form now on. ...

Had to purchase bunk beds for my sons who were outgrowing their bedroom. Went to the furniture store, picked them out, had them brought to the loading dock to load into my truck only to find out that the store did not accept American Express. This all took about an hour. Ended up having to put them on an installment plan because we really needed them and the store had worked hard to get us what we really wanted. Very EMBARRASSING!!!! People were waiting in line behind us and we basically had to start the process over. Ended up being there over 2 hours!!...

Well, it's not really a credit card, it's a charge card which means you have to pay the balance at the end of the month (which you should be doing anyway). But I've had quite a few normal credit cards over the years, and regardless of what you call it, no card have I liked more than American Express. Now maybe it's not accepted at absolutely every merchant there is, but I actually try to avoid those merchants. Why would I go to that trouble? Because with the extra small little itty-bitty (I think) percent increase that Amex charges its merchants over the other guys, Amex uses that premium very well.

First: points. The gold card point system is great; at least a point (or more for some purchases) per dollar spent. Amex also has a great relationship with what might be every company in existence (ok, I'm exaggerating a bit), and because of these relationships they can offer better deals to spend your points on than you could if you got just cash back.

Case in 'points': If you spend $5000......

American Express Gold card...the best.......that is all I have to say about it!!!!!
It is so easy to use. I also like how they break down your usage at the end of the year so that you have a summary of where you spent you money.................I am not a person of many words so I have to keep adding things to write this review to get to 250 words to publish it. I don't know if this is worth the trouble...sorry

The American Express Gold Card is now the only credit card I carry. Not only do you have the convenience of a credit card - you pay it off at the end of the month so you aren't accrung any debt or finance charges. I recently had an experience where someone made a duplicate of my card which I would have never known as the card was still in my wallet. American Express called me a few hours after a charge went through that looked suspicious and when called and I told them no I was not even in that state that day they suspended the charge and immediately issued me a replacement. They also have excellent customer service - I have never dealt with more professional customer service people. All in all excellent financial tool

I have been a member of American Express since 1979. I think American Express is the card to have. It is known everywhere. I do wish the annual fee was not so high. I am always with my card and use it every day instead of cash. As each of my children went off to college we sent them all off with an American Express Card. It made it much easier for them and us to know that we did not always have to make sure their account had enough money in it. They always had their American Express Card on them....

The Bussiness Gold Rewards card offer so much. From Purchase Protection to Return Protection. It also offers the abilty for bonus points when you hit certain spend amounts. The membership reward points can be used for travel, gift cards, and even over 2.5 million material items. it really is a great card, I love it....
