I have had the AMEX Platinum card for approximately 10 years. Interest seems competitive but not relevant to me since we pay off monthly. We use the card for many purchases ranging from groceries to an automobile (as a down payment) and it comprises about 75% of our monthly credit transactions. We pay as much as we can with the card including auto/home insurance, teletphone, etc.

The fraud aspect of the card is outstanding. Once we were in a city 90 miles away attempting to buy a dryer for my Son and AMEX denied the transaction. I called the 800 customer service number and found out it was a fraud alert as it was unusual to buy a large appliance so far from home. This has happened to us on a couple of occasions and show their diligence in tracking purchases.

I especially like their on-line access. It is an easy way to tell exactly how we are doing that month with expenses. Also, they have a year end summary this is invaluable for understanding your spending. ...

I use my American Express Platinum Card for all of my travel needs.They provide baggage , car rental insurance , travel delay , fraud protection , life insurance , cancellation insurance , and much more. If I ever have a question about a charge to my account , They have many times , quickley suspended payment and did a through investagation.I have been a member for more than 20 years and I couldnt be happier with their services. I also enjoy the reward points earned. Last year the used them to purchase gift cards and movie tickets. They have a huge selection to chose from.I also use my American Express Platinum Card for restraunts , christmas shopping , home repair purchases , just about everything that I would purchase.The more I use it the more points I can use to purchase items mostly for gifts. Another big plus with the services is they have a 800 phone number , that is available 24 hours a day. And I can always reach some one immediatley.

if you travle, alot...this is a great card. upgrades and lots of wine and dine treatment. but the annual fee ($450) is a little stiff, especially if other family members have cards (add'l $175) ....the costco amex is a better deal....
