Chanty96 says "get rewards for everyday spending " about American Express - Blue

American Express BLUE get membership rewards points for every day spending. If you use this card correctly you can make money. When I say correctly I mean only use what you can pay and pay it IN FULL by the due date. Even though the points can be used for travel, household and electronics product, I save my points on my everyday purchases and use them for gifts cards at christmas time. It make my christmas budget go farther. What set this card a side from the others is really the customer service when I call them they are always friendly and eager to help. I have a mastercard that I keep as a back-up with a reward program, but the rewards don't have the same value, with amex 5000 points = $50.00 gift card and I can redeem them for $10.00 gift cards for 1000 points. Which is 1%, but with my mastercard 6000 points = $50.00 gift card 3500 points = $25.00 gift card and I can not get a gift card for 10.00 ( each helps for work functions)
...

slatertq2 says "American Express Blue is a no hassles card..where it's accepted." about American Express - Blue

When I got my first credit card, I wanted something with no annual fee that also let me earn rewards. I found it in American Express Blue. I've never been charged any kind of a fee in the three years I've had the card. But, I have managed to earn several hundred dollars worth of free gift cards using my points. I use the card whenever possible, even if I have cash in my pocket, then pay off the whole bill every month. One percent of my purchases comes back to me in gift cards. I wish they had a wider selection of gift cards to choose from, but I've settled on Home Depot and Borders cards. So, my credit card pays for all my home repairs and reading! It's a great deal! The number one drawback to American Express in general, though, is that it isn't accepted everywhere. So, I have to have a backup card. When places don't accept it (usually small stores) I use my MasterCard debit instead.
...

elparsons2002 says "Stay away from american express." about American Express - Blue

I have had the American express credit card for several years. I initially got it because it had a great balance tranfer rate. After I transfered the balance none of the terms they had initially offere were true. Then shortly after having the card they dropped my credit limit down to my balance. I have a credit score of 700 and there was no reason for them to drop my balance like that other then they aren't extending as much credit due to the current economic conditions. Well where I once only held a 30 percent balance on the card now I am maxed out and it is affecting my credit score because they have changed there business plan. To say the least I am very happy with the new legislation that president obama has been pushing through congress. I have not had a good experience with american express. I would not recommend them. They do not keep their word on "pre-approved" offers and they will mess up your credit score for no reason. When you call to complain they will not care.
...
