I know someone who has the American Express-Blue Cash credit card and has had it for a couple years now. They love it, because at the anniversary of when they got the card, they get a check. The secret is to pay off your balance every month....

The initial reason I signed up for the American Express Blue Card was the no interest term, which for me ended up being about six months. I charged a plane ticket as my initial purchase, and had a balance left after my initial period of no interest. I thought that the interest rates would skyrocket at the end of that initial period, but they stayed relatively low, and have since then. I use this card primarily for points toward accumulating a credit off of a travel booking. The only con I see with this card is that it takes a significant amount of money spent for the account credit (7500, I believe) So this isn't the card for someone who is expecting rewards quickly....

Amex Blue - jacking up everyone's interest rate.

If you have the American Express Blue card READ the last page of your statement. They have just issued a notice to you and all card holders....the rates are going up.
Regardless of your good standing or excellent credit rating...you're about to be charged more if you have a balance.

I'm done with this card. I'll use it once a year to keep my account open, but otherwise there is no benefit to using it. Sorry.
...

Rewards credit cards can be a great income stream if you work it right.

The first key is to use it for every qualifying purchase but the second key step takes discipline and is where many people trip up. To make it work, you must pay off the balance regularly (I pay my card on the 15th and 30th of the month) to avoid interest charges and late fees and to account for it in your cash flow (rather than thinking you have a WHOLE lot more money in your checking account than you actually do).

The American Express Blue card is a great cash rewards card if you can live with those two steps. The 5% back on groceries, gas and drugstores is the best I could find. Sure, Discover sometimes offers 5% back on one or more of those categories, but it's only for a quarter. And yes, the $6500 minimum before it kicks into high gear is a lot -- but again, if you charge your utilities, insurance, health bills, etc. (remembering to pay them off each month), it's very very doable.

I actually carry......

I've had my Blue by American Express card for several years now. I used to pay it off monthly but have had to carry a balance for a couple of years now. I pay the minimum or more each month.

I missed my payment due date a time or two causing my interest rate to go up, but with one call explaining the situation they put it back down to my now current under 11%. I have had some fraudulent charges show up on my card and with one simple phone call the charge is removed. They are always courteous and understanding.

I also like that I can still pay my card through MyCheckFree while other cards are no longer allowing me to use MyCheckFree for their bills. Because I need to have one place where I can see all my bills to keep me from missing a payment, I've canceled or discontinued using all other cards.

Blue by American Express is the card of choice for me....

We have never had a major problem with AMEX, and we have had various cards from them over almost a 25-year period. Their customer service has always been helpful and polite - and they have REAL PEOPLE answering the phones!!!! (Yes - you have to go through the computer thing, first! But I have never had to wait more than a few minutes.....)

Recently, their security office called me to ask about some *strange* activities on my card, and - come to find out - someone had stolen my number! As soon as I verified that I had not made the purchases, their customer service took over, and took care of everything!

But - that's the kind of service I have come to expect from American Express..............
...

SteveQ says "One of my favorite credit cards" about American Express - Blue

I've been using the Blue from American Express credit card since 2005, and so far it's been one of my favorite credit cards. My experience is a little short since I've only had two other credit cards a Capital One and a Chase.

Reasons Why I like Blue from American Express:

I've never had any problems with there customer service.

It's easy to setup online account payments and easy to log into your account and pay your bills

I love seeing my cash rebate accumulate every month on my statement

As long as I pay off my bill in full I get a 1% rebate off of every purchase.

The APR is the lowest I've ever gotten on a credit card and it has a large credit limit too.

Those are my thoughts on the Blue from American Express I hope you found this review helpful when you are choosing which credit card you want.

...

If you make large purchases, such as a business expenses, vacations or home improvements, the rewards are awesome. Our credit card received it's reward bonus last month in excess of $300 toward the balance of our credit card. My husband owns his own business and all business expenses are purchased with the AMEX. We've also used it for home improvement projects and vacations....
