I now live in Alaska. The first time I flew was to come here and I was by myself. I was scared to death but when I got to the airport and the people from the Alaska Airlines helped me so much. I was coming to Alaska to be with my husband who is in the Army. I have recomened Alaska Airlines to many peeople who want to come here because it is noise free and very they make sure you are very comfortable.
...

Dare2Think says "Never again...there is always something, bad service and delays " about Alaska Airlines

This is a post to an incident that occurred on 08.14.09, Flight Number 84 outbound from Sea-Tac, Washington to San Jose, California. My Wife and I chose this flight because we were traveling with our 19-month old son and this flight was the best choice, taking into account his sleeping and eating schedule. This flight was delayed of 3 and ½ hours due to the absence of the scheduled pilots and/or flight crew needed to take us to our destination. I understand that sometimes a part on the aircraft might need to be replaced or that the weather will affect the departure time, however waiting on qualified pilots to report to duty is unacceptable to me. I understand that the pilots had their own flight problems getting to Sea-Tac, but honestly, I don't care about that. Having a standby crew at the airport or local pilots "On Call" for just those sorts of situations should be standard operating procedure for any sort of business with deadlines to meet. Since there was no backup plan to avoid...
...

I flew on Alaska Air this summer with a group of teachers. I had heard a lot of bad things about Alaska Air and was hesistant to fly with them. The flight was booked through a trip coordinator so I had no day in the matter.

I was so pleased with the service, the plane and the flight in general I would love to fly Alaska Air whenever possible. There was a wide variety of snacks to choose from and the flight attendants were very efficient.

I also loved the fact that there was a TV in every seat with satellite television. Also accessablility to XM radio. This made the flight extremely enjoyable.
...

PatrickDunroven says "Alaska Airlines, please reconsider what you are doing" about Alaska Airlines

Alaska Airlines has a policy about forward bathroom use but won't reveal it. The reading by their flight attendants is often quite different, but typically emphasize that the forward bathroom is reserved for first class passengers. On one flight I was challenged when I went to use the forward bathroom, the closest bathroom. The attendant wanted to know whether I was handicapped. I am, but it isn't obvious. Is she a doctor?

TSA regulations for domestic flights do not forebid use of the forward bathroom. Alaska Airlines, and apparently other airlines, are trying to establish a policy of "separate but equal" bathrooms as a privilege for first class passengers. Please! A reserved bathroom at 35,000 feet?

The preflight announcement should stay with TSA intentions: "FAA and TSA requirements state that no line may form near the forward bathroom. If you are waiting to use that bathroom, please stand in the coach section." For security reasons, this makes sense. To "reserve" a bathroom is insulting...
...

I flew a 6 hour flight from ANC to HNL on Alaska Airlines in coach class on a 737-800. They had a delicious Hawaiian meal on the way there and DigEplayers for rental for the In-Flight entertainment. They had about 9 movies, about 15 or so TV shows, about 10 children cartoons, about 15 categories of music, Hawaii and Alaska destination information, and Alaska Airlines information! That was a lot of choices and it made my flight go by really fast. The drinks kept flowing and the captain warned us about any up coming turbulence. There was also pillows and blankets so it was very comfortable in coach class. The flight attendants were really friendly and informative and the captain said on the speakers to tell the flight attendants if it is too hot or too cold so he could adjust it. I had a really postive Alaska Airlines experience!
...

Flying Alaska Airlines takes me back to the "Good old days" of flying. Their regional jets are comfortable even for a tall person, but what strikes me most is the service. Friendly attendants serving free beer/wine/Starbucks coffee and even snacks! I always feel pampered by this treatment, living in an age of stripped down service....

I used Alaska Airlines as a connector flight from Puerto Vallarta to California. They were very timely, actually a little early which was awesome. The only complaint I have is that I was absolutely freezing on the plane and asked for a blanket, but never received one.....

Rue71 says "Alaska Airlines - definitely not pet friendly" about Alaska Airlines

Our family will be moving from the East coast to Kauai very shortly. Upon checking flight schedules I noticed most airlines transfer you to ALASKA AIRLINES for the flight from the west coast to Kauai. We have three small dogs we will be taking with us on our move, however, when contacted, Alaska Air indicated they will not take pets in the cargo area to Hawaii and would not transfer pet cargo to other airlines or Hawaii Department of Agriculture center. I could not find any other airline that travels between the west coast to Kauai without going thru Honolulu, which would mean changing planes again, and due to the late arrival we would be forced to stay a night in Honolulu before we could catch a flight to Kauai. That leads to another problem....we could not find any hotel which will accept three crated pets. I'm really confused and find that airlines that claim to be "pet friendly" are really saying "take care of your own pet ...stuffed into a miniature bag under the seat". ......

jo1234 says "Great airlines for short travel" about Alaska Airlines

Greatprice for short distances. Some of their prop planes give a lot of turbulence but overall great value for the price! Most of the travel I have done on this airlines is short distances - around 1 hour flights. The staff is always friendly and they try to accomodate most of your needs. I would definitely recommend to my friends however I don't think the trip would be comfortable for travelling long distances. The airplanes are slightly older which can make the ride often bumpy....
